Got a question about GBB, I tanked the fight last night as a Rogue Avoidance tank. Even though I should be at the cap, I still ate 7 Arcing Smash's. There the only real hits I take while the buffs are up. Is it considered an AOE ,and does that have a differant Hit Chance modifier? Each time Cheat death procced and saved. But I still wouldn't think id have eaten that many. If it was a buff issue, then I should have taken normal swings also. Note i did take the occasional Eject damge, but dodged the strike, and some Acidic Wounds.

So, respect intended, but this is one of those questions that no one has any realistic chance of knowing the answer to. Not many guilds have tried Bloodboil with rogue avoidance tanks and few of us (though I'm one of them) have any experience being a rogue avoidance tank. OK, that said, part of your avoidance is that mobs have a 5% chance to miss you -- base -- on their attacks. If the only thing that hit you in the entire encounter was Arcing Smash, it seems fairly likely that mechanic is improperly coded to not included the 5% base chance to miss.

I say "improperly" because things like Mother Shaz's saberlash, Gruul's hateful strike, and virtually every other known melee type attack in the game includes said base miss chance. The odds of one of your debuffs failing at the precise point of arcing smash but only arcing smash is pretty small. It's also possible that arcing smash was meant to be "unmissable" and carries an anti-avoidance debuff on itself, but that seems quite a bit less likely.

Did you otherwise dodge the vast majority of arcing smashes during the encounter?

Ive moved my qustion to the 100% avoidance thread along with more data, but yes I only took special hits, dodging every normal strike. The theory now is that 'specials' cant miss, pushing miss off the hit table. Thus id need to approx 11.8% (miss+defense+scorpid) more dodge to push the hits off the hit table as well.

Not quite - you need to dig deeper into the numbers, because WWS accumulates dodge/parry/blahblah into Miss for the overall stat.

1 arcing smash did indeed miss.
However, Acidic Would had 5 parries, 25 dodges, no misses.

It's possible that they're working of slightly different mechanics.

Doesn't mean anything. The Arcing Smash miss was against a Feral Druid with Predatory Instincts - Spell - World of Warcraft. The only other miss I have seen so far was against a Shadow Fiend which have a similar passive ability. I have yet to see an Arcing Smash miss on a target that does not have passive AoE avoidance.

Which, if you really want, means taking Enveloping Shadows in the rogue-tank build. I'm fairly sure you can do that without losing anything essentially. That said, I haven't rogue tanked in ages cause the GM won't let me tank Shaz or Illidan. He's a killjoy in that regard.

There is a little of both luck and strategy involved. 7 Hours of attempts is not uncommon in terms of tries.
From my raid experience is was always down to people making "those" mistakes and not fully focusing on what to do at certain phases.

It is one of those encounters that requires alot of raid focus and even still then it can be a little frustrating but stick it out and eventually everyone will be on the same page.
