Tanked phase 3 for the 2nd time on my pally last night. Clicked AI off and spammed Righteous Fury right before phase 3 to bring my mana below 3k(i have over 7k fully raid buffed), was able to get a consecrate, SoR and HS casted before the mana burn as well, was under 2k mana at that point and didn't even notice the dam. Disc priest hit me with power infusion + pain suppression right at the start to minimize mana burn dam and make it easier to cast max rank spells with less mana, then i got a misdirect and popped wings, no one was ever close on threat and we downed RoS before aura ticks hit for 3k. Seethe was never procced.

Alright, so my guild just began getting some real work in on RoS tonight, we managed to get through P1 fairly consistent and we are working on the interrupts for the spirit shocks in P2. I feel pretty confident that we will getting consistently through P2 with another night work. I admit, I have not read this entire thread, and I am currently in the process in order to find some tips to help us out in P1.

For P1 we are using a warrior to tank it until the first enrage, then a rogue hops in to evasion tank, with another warrior grabbing him after the enrage. Generally we were able to burn him down with either a few seconds left till the second enrage, or a few seconds into the enrage. I feel pretty confident that this is a successful way of handling it.

Quick reading in this post has me pretty sure that our two rogues, once they learn it, will interrupt very well. The insight from the previous page of posts has helped me and we are going to test that out to improve interrupting.

Now, mainly I have two questions, the first thing I am here to ask, is, how important is the deaden for the raids DPS?

To my real question, I see people talking about a pally tanking P3 and I am pretty confused, due to lack of knowledge with how exactly a paladin works.

How exactly do people use a paladin tank to be more effective P3 tanks?


Edit: one last question, our shadowpriests generally have some trouble casting during P2 due to knockback from all there dots, is it worth switching a pally into the group for concentration aura if it means lowering raid DPS?

Tank as normal. There are two main reasons why they're more effective: they scale better with the damage buff (meaning aggro is better), and the mana burn is much easier to control and heal through than the rage burn. Neither of them really need anything special to acheive.

First question, I'm not really sure what/why you're asking. Just make sure it's reflected each time, and not interrupted. There are addons both for tanks (forces no display of any cast other than deaden) and interrupters (forces no display of Deaden) so that those two roles don't see any cast but the one they're concerned with.

I find hunters and shadowpriests have the most problems dealing with the pushback so yeah, get them into pally groups.
