Volley: This spell is now affected by area damage caps. Its bonus damage coefficients have also been increased. It also correctly consumes charges of Misdirection.
|
Volley is doing Nature damage instead of arcane damage on the PTR.

I am pretty sure that I read on the PTR forums that while VOIP chat is planned for 2.2, guild banks were a later patch.
Here is the link: WoW Forums -> Guild Bank/Vault on PTR?

I guess we can expect ZA in 2 months+.
Doubt 2.3 will go on ptr right after 2.2 and ZA will need a bit of testing too.

It is more like the ring enchants for Enchanting or the Alchemist Stone for Alchemy or the weapons for Blacksmithing, since Jewelcrafting didn't have a similar counterpart.

Items - World of Warcraft
Seems to me they had stuff already. And even after they make them they can drop JC and still use the item. I lost use of my alchemist trinket =(

I had indeed forgotten about those. Perhaps the new gems are, in a way, intended to supplement the trinkets since eventually the trinkets would be replaced by other items, whereas the gems are of a higher level of quality and would be used for longer before being upgraded.

Fair to say that they intended the figurines to fill that role, but frankly the figurines are, for most classes, just not that good. I think they wanted initially to fill JC with trinkets, but that kind of encroaches on Engineering's niche. This is a much more elegent solution imo (Also not THAt easy to earn money when people flood the AH with cut gems worth barely more than the raw mats).

As a resto shaman and a JC I don't know how many of my gems I'll even be replacing.. No upgraded version of the pure mp/5 gem. The +Healing one is nice but mp/5 is probably my most favored stat. I'll only be regemming a few of my royal nightseyes most likely :\.

This myth needs to die. The gravy train has long since disappeared, thanks to people being so awful as to even list cut gems lower than the base gem is. It was a good source of gold for about a month, and then only if you made sure to jump ahead of everyone else.
Or maybe on some servers people just allow themselves to get gouged more.
And, yeah, I've never made a trinket from JC. It would have been nice if they had kept that perk up, but they didn't. So I'll take BoP gems.

The income is from prospecting, not cutting. Buy Adamantite low, prospect, sell gems on weekends, popular raid nights, and Tuesdays (when people buy Arena gear). Maybe the market's settled on some servers, but on others, there's still a profit to be made if you buy in bulk. And yes, there's always people wanting the guaranteed sell for a few gold lower on the stack than listing the ore on the AH.

I was wondering this exact thing myself, and made a post on test realm forums last night... not that they'll bother reading or responding to it.

I don't think it's people being malicious(ly stupid) - it's the nature of the WoW supply and demand.
There's higher demand for the raw materials than the end-product for "common" craft-ables. It leads us to the strange situation where refining materials results in less value. (Negative labor?)
ie: Iron ore is used by both jewelcrafters, engineers, and blacksmiths. Smelting it into iron bars makes it only useful to engineers and blacksmiths. (last I checked, iron bars cost less than ore) Crafting it into a green iron helm reduces its value even further, as now only some random leveling mail-user will want it.
It's sad/weird, but I think it's due to there being more crafters than any server needs.

It makes perfect sense really. The AH price for any resource is heavily influenced by supply and demand.
[Star of Elune] goes for about 50g on my server. This seems reasonable; the supply is moderate, demand is high - mostly from people getting them cut into the Solid form.
[Solid Star of Elune] goes for about 60g on my server. Again, this seems reasonable - supply is lower (not all Stars get cut into Solids), but demand is high since these are the premiere tanking gems. Or to approach it from the other side, 60g is roughly equivalent to buying an uncut Star for 50g, and then paying 10g in crafting fees, overheads, margin, etc. Again, it makes sense - most people buy the uncut gem and get a guild crafter to cut it for them, but someone in a hurry will pay a premium...about a 10g premium, in fact.
[Sparkling Star of Elune] goes for about 40g (and frankly, I'm surprised it's even that high). There's nothing malicious here - supply is very low (very few Stars get cut into Sparkling Stars), but demand is essentially zero. The only reason these gems are cut is ignorance or people desperate for a skill-up who don't have a useful pattern. Maestroquark seems to think that Sparkling Stars should be listed for the same price as Solid Stars, but this is obviously nonsensical. The demand for Solid Stars is orders of magnitude higher. Logically the price for Sparkling Stars should be the market clearing price - otherwise known as "however low you have to go to get rid of the junk". The fact that that's lower than the price for uncut Stars is ironic but irrelevant.

They should give us a "re-grind gem" skill. Turns any cut gem back into an un-cut one :-)
Main reason the "gravy train" myth persists is people from heavily-botted servers (where the price for ore and gems has hit rock bottom) looking at the cut gem prices from other servers, and thinking "5g raw gem + 50g cut gem = ZOMGPROFIT".
In reality yes, there's something like a 10-15% profit if you buy ore in bulk and spend ages sharding it. Last time I checked, it came to about the same income per hour as grinding random mobs for drops. A while back, we had a bot infestation that halved the price of ore. Made quite a lot of money then, since the gem price took a while to follow the ore price downwards. Then they banned the bots, and I've made a lot less since.

Trash gives 3 rep each from some pulls I was able to solo. Haven't gotten loot rights/drops of any trash drops yet so can't say of what they are.
