Stupid Things People Do
There seem to always be little quirks in raid instances that pose a threat to the ADD members of a raid that incessently jump around like Mexican jumping beans. I'm opening this thread to allow for a little venting, but please try to keep it in good nature and amusing. In SSC, for example, my guildies love to feed the fish in the water before we boil the water. Also, I don't know if you guys have experienced this wonderful joy of SSC, but quite a few of our raiders have fallen (pun intended) to the elevator at the beginning of SSC. It's great when it's someone coming in to replace someone else and thus no resers are nearby. Anyhow, our guild movie maker made a strategy guide for this boss, I hope you enjoy.

My first time in SSC (as a replacement), someone was rez'd at the top of the elevator shaft ... when the elevator was down.
The exchange on vent was amusing.
"I gave you a rez, Leeloo"
"Is the elevator up?"
"Yes."
"Okie ... CRAP!"

Oh, I remember the clear to Lurker last Tuesday. Our app fell into the water. I believe 3-4 healers died accidentally falling into the water trying to heal him. There were 1-2 non-healers who died accidentally falling into the water while trying to get a good look at the carnage below as well. All in all, I believe 5 people died, except the app warrior, who managed to swim back to safety because of wearing plate and all the heals he was getting.

The dreaded gap between the platform and one of the pipes, just next to the Lurker console?
Yeah we lose about 3-6 people there every week.

Yep. No matter how many people say WATCH OUT FOR THE DAMN CRACK on ventrilo we always end up with at least 2 or 3 dead.

This one isn't exactly new, but we always seemed to loose 2 or 3 people going over the bridge right before the snake boss in ZG. God only knows how they failed to walk in a straight line.
Oh and then there is the reason Steam Tonks are banned on all of our raids... Did you know if you summon one it's an aggressive action? One of our paladins summoned one on our 2nd or 3rd Magtheridon raid, agro'ed a channeler and locked half the group inside.

Damn the Crack.
On our first ever SSC raid, first person in didn't know there was an elevator, thought it was a kind of antigravity tube that floated you downwards (don't ask; I have no idea) and happily jumped in.
I'm sure everyone has someone in the raid who's pulled Al'ar 'just to see if I could'.

Auto running into Kael trash after killing Solarian (happens every week).
Throwing Tainted Core to a Totem, Pet or our Hunter kiter. (Yes, I've indeed seen this happen...)
Overnuking on DLK as range on 10% and getting everyone cleaved.
Going AFK when starting the Kel'Thuzad encounter. (I'm sure most people here know what happens next...)
Breaking the MC on Kael'thas right above a Flamestrike.

I've always thought it'd be fun to watch a hunter turn his Aspect of the Pack on and off during the frogger blobs between Patchwork and Grobbulus. Our guild would lose at least 6 people to that weekly and I can only imagine that making it worse.
|
But there's no sense crying over every mistake, you just keep on trying 'till you run out of cake, and the science gets done and you'll make a neat gun for the people who are still alive.

We did that in my old Alliance guild - it was classic!
I have also seen many people die to the "Crack of Doom" as we call it.
At one point our SSC strategy involved going to Tidewalker first, so after clearing the first couple of packs, we'd water walk past the Lurker's area and walk up the pipe by the Crack of Doom. Invariably one or more people would fail their waterwalking test, leading to much hilarity when the fish attack everyone in the water. Oh and you also have the fun of running up that last pipe by the crack and trying to time it so you don't pull that pack of nagas and technicians, which is always fun.
In retrospect, that was a pretty stupid way to go into SSC, but hey, I was just following orders!

I had just added some mods and redone my UI a few hours before a Gruul's lair raid. After I pyroblast pulled Krosh Firehand, I came to the horrible realization that spellsteal was not bound to a key nor was it on one of my bars. Apparantly, he's much harder to tank when your tanking 9k blasts instead of 2k ones.

We were buffing for another Mag attempt and I was standing inside near the first channeler. I went to type something in the mage chat channel which for me is /6 but I flubbed the slash and thus just hit 6... which is Frost Nova.
Amusingly I was the only one that died, since as soon as something aggros on a person outside the gate the encounter resets. It was still pretty funny though.

A NE could add even more to that simply by shadow-melding near a blob, it caused the blob to temporarily stop for a sec. Causing the blobs to be to close together to go through or even stopping one as some1s running was always fun <3.
Another one of my favorites is the Thaddius jump, I can't even count how many noggen-foggers some people went through to jump down to Thaddius sometimes.

That caused a wipe on Kael once, I wonder why those are valid targets (except the hunter)?
Interesting, I have seen no one die at the crack near Lurker, but then there is always someone dieing in the elevator.
Once on Mag I wanted to type in the /4 channel, but I typed the 4 first which is my Curse of Agony key, that didn't turn out well .

As part of the initiation into our Kara raids we would have people go out on one of the platforms on the way to Prince. Well it turns out there is (was) a glitch there that would cause people to get stuck. Needless to say we would summon them and then kill Prince, but it was still pretty funny.

Not necessarily regarding the hole in the pipe, though we did lose people to that once or twice. One nite we had previously wiped, I don't remember if there were any sort of strange circumstance when it happened, but we gathered at the pipe to buff and pot and started our run in. MT jumps out on the Gluth end followed by the rest of the Raid. Before any of us hit the ground we just hear a loud crash and everyone is dead. He must have bugged out because he cast Decimate right as soon as out MT aggroed him. Everyone died, and we had a pretty good laugh about it.
Another thing that happened more often than not was Hunter's casting Aspect of the Pack right as people were about to jump down from the platform to engage Thaddius. Can't tell you how many time we had people not make the jump because Pack was getting cast and throwing off the persons timing.

I probably died to that crack once every two weeks because I could never remember whether or not FR gear affected it, so I'd put on a full set and test.
Protip: It doesn't, and the crack ticks multiple times a second. All it's missing is the finger of death.

I'm the person that always manages to die to shit like this. It can be a giant sea of deep water as far as the eye can see, but I will manage to jump on the one rock in a 1000 mile radius. I never made that jump successfully.
Although I'm not sure what this crack is in SSC, we must go a different way or something.

*player b dies..*
Player B = 'oh I zoned out of ssc to repair. then got ganked outside. Now im being camped"
Raid leader = "Why did you zone out, we have a bot and everyone else is at 10% dura?"
*24 people in raid waits patiently for 5-10 min while player B runs back to collect body then zone in.
