So apparently using [Bouquet of Red Roses] makes it really hard to see fires and volcanoes on Supremus. Of course, this makes people run away and survive more. Go figure.
It's about ten minutes before our raid is going to start. Everyone is in the raid channel on vent except for two guys in another channel. One of them had had some drama over who got invited to the raid the night before and was ranting about the officers to his friend. How do I know what he was talking about if he was in a different vent channel? Turns out his vent push to talk key and his WoW voice chat push to talk key are the same. He was much nicer about the officers once he new we could hear him.
We have a set of 3 vietnamese brothers in our guild, one is the warrior officer and MT, another is a feral druid, our 2nd tank, and the third played a shaman, but quit shortly after BC dropped. the feral druid (Darkduid) is the one who speaks the least english out of the bunch, and rarely will talk to anyone unless he is directly addressed. One time during SSC, we clear to lurker like we normally do, everyone is sitting on their platforms, and people take AFK breaks while we buff up and explain the strat to new people. Fishing up lurker was always a crapshoot for us, taking 5-10 minutes, however, this time, our feral druid freind Darkduid decided to fish one time, while about 10 people were there. This one fateful cast happened to spawn lurker, who proceeded to mow through the raid. People got back from AFK breaks to see that they were all dead, and started to ask what happened. Darkduid replied (his first entry into raid chat since MC) "I sorry I good at fishing".
Last night we were starting our archimonde attempts, and one of the warlocks asks "so what is the whole idea of these groups that we are getting into". our priest officer replies on vent "you are supposed to be in self sufficient groups, so if anything bad happens, you will still be able to be decursed/healed. just always remember one thing, group up on your doomfire and no matter what, stay on top of your doomfire!" this was followed by a number of "wtfs", before the officer caught himself and said "aww shit, i mean decursers, DONT GROUP UP ON DOOMFIRES"
This is one of the funnier and more poignant things I've read recently.
In a tradition dating back to our MC days, we always tried to kill one of our main priests whenever possible, though this was mostly unnecessary as, despite being a really good healer and generally excellent player, had a penchant for getting himself killed on many, many pulls. If he went from one boss to another without dying, we'd start to get nervous -- then a mob would lovingly pound his face in, and we'd all sigh, "Oh, good, Skell's dead. Now it's a normal raid!"
Though his death rate was NOTHING compared to the couple weeks we were breaking in a new hunter, teaching him to pull properly in (I think) AQ20. I think we all chipped in for his repair costs for a little while.
I know this has to have happened to a couple of other people out there...
Tonight in kara, I was piloting an 0/21/40 build for the first time (under a decent tank, anyway, but that's another story). My shadowbolt numbers are rocking out like crazy compared to before. so, we get to the Greater Fleshbeast pull in the observation room immediately before the Prince. Tank grabs him, I drop CoS and my opening bolt crits. The shadow priest loads up Shadow Weaving, and I decide to try for a record crit.
Long story short, two shots later I manage it (first time breaking 7k ^_^)... and then look at Omen just as I jump from 120% to 135% of the MT's aggro. You can guess what happened next without any extra description from me.
To teach and to learn, to laugh and make others laugh. This is my purpose, and any day in which I don't wasn't worth the time it took to get through.

My guess: You immediately hit Soulshatter, sending the fleshbeast in a beeline towards the unlucky mage? If not, learn to kill mages, it's the funnest part of a warlock's job
One run, 2 weeks ago, was going pretty badly. Our off-tank just could NOT stay alive for very long, and he was only generating about 400 TPS. I saw him go into defensive stance earlier, and he said he had his prot set on. I was on my warlock, but 2 of our 3 healers were SSC vets in it for badges, so that couldn't be the problem. That's when I decide to armory him...
Level 67 green belt Of The Monkey? Check. [Rune of the Guard Captain]? Check. Total defense of 460? Check. About 13k health raid buffed? Check. Obscene repair bills for 10 people and barely getting the Shade of Aran down? Yeah, check.

We had a new guy joining us for the BT raid, and we were facing Teron. There we were, all buffed up, flasks, buff food and weapon buffs. Healthstones were done, we were ready.
Our main tank was explaining the tactics to the new guy, showing him where he needed to stand when he got the ghosts, you know, so as not to screw the positioning up. He showed him the path that needed to be taken in order to get all the ghosts down, giving good detail on how to lance properly.
Suddenly, we hear a loud Slam and Lock of a door and "Vengeance is mine!". Yes. It has happened. Our Main Tank had managed to back pedal into Teron, causing him to aggro, locking us all in the room, fully buffed, with nowhere to go. That was probably the funniest moment, for me.
The first attempt had gone badly due to a Wrath going off in the middle of the raid, but the second shot was going well. Solarian hits 50%, and the raid leader calls for our shaman-heavy raid to deploy Fire Elementals. 3 seconds later, a melee gets Wrath... and doesn't move. He blows our tanks and melee straight to Crater-land, and to add insult to injury, kills all 6 Fire Elementals

I nominate Kaz'rogal for coming during wave 8 like normal even though we were slacking and had like 8 mobs up. We kited the mobs away and dragged thrall over to the tauren camp. Then Kaz'rogal spent 5 minutes checking out the far reaches of the horde camp while we ressed ;P
I dont want to sound like tooo much of a smart-arse, but why didn't you just kill him? :P
I would think that if everyone were in the ghost spot, and the tank walked into Teron while showing the ghost path, the healing might be a bit spotty. The tank probably died in 3 or so hits, and then the raid wiped.
There's not some hidden "but he tries really hard" variable built into the game. -Slake
I always love the "it doesn't fit my style of play" line. There are only two styles of play; Correct, and Incorrect. The only people that ever use this line are people with the incorrect style of play. -Sebudai
A while back, we had a warlock (he has left us by now), who we found out went afk regularly during our raids. And that included going afk during raid bosses without telling anybody.
During the time when we were still unaware of that, it happened on one of our Leo kills. And of course he got Inner Demon and was promptly killed by it.
While that in itself was pretty stupid, it is (unfortunatly) not really the punch line. The really stupid thing was that I stood next to him and noticed that he was doing absolutely nothing at all to defend himself against his demon. I was extremely baffled by that (as I said, we hadn't found out about him afk-ing yet) and paid more attention to him than Leo. And I promptly missed the announcement for the next transition. So I happily continued to nuke Leo, while still puzzling over the warlock's behaviour. And so, my next Starfire hit Leo right after he switched back to elf form, and of course it was a crit.
Luckily, the two of us were the only casualties and the rest of the raid killed Leo fairly easily after that, but I felt pretty embarassed nonetheless.
There was a story from another guild on my server about some caster, who went AFK wanding Telonicus while the raid waited for remote toy to drop from one of the tanks. With Telonicus at low HP, even the tank stopped autoattacking so, needless to say he pulled aggro and his demise eventually led to a wipe.
Short after becoming the Invisibility Spell right after BC, i went with some Guildmates Slavepens. After a wipe just before the final Boss i used first time the spell and was very happy about surviving 1st time a wipe. A Hunter was too in the group, it was an act of gelousy: in the time the other 3 Players run in, he missdirect Pull on me - becouse he said that, i went back and click my Missdirection 'Buff' away - guess who died from the pull
Alright, I've got one. Prior to TBC, but after the revised talent trees, we went into ZG to have some fun. Well, we got to Hakkar, but the MT had to leave, leaving us with our Feral Druid to do the job (mostly because he was begging us to let him). So, we get into the fight, and we kept noticing that Hakkar's health was going up at an alarming rate occasionally, and we weren't really making any progress. We just thought it was people being careless and lazy about getting in the poison, so we reset and yelled a bunch, and then let our Druid go back and start the encounter again.
Same thing happened that time too with the health going up, but his time we made sure everybody was in the poison at all times, and finally somebody noticed that Hakkar's health was going up outside of his channeling.
Turns out, every time he MC'd the Druid tank, he'd gain Imp. Leader of the Pack, and was getting mad health back every time he crit anybody. We were so pissed.
I thoroughly disapprove of duels. If a man should chellenge me, I would take him kindly and forgivingly by the hand and lead him to a quiet place and kill him.--Mark Twain

Hakkar getting Imp LotP isn't really a problem if you have two tanks. I did it multiple times after the new talents pre-BC and we never had an issue with him gaining an unbearable amount of health back. The chances are just really low. A proper tank will have at least the requisite 5.6% crit reduction, and a warrior tank may have more since it's not a terrible stat for them. So at the best Hakkar has a 5% chance (from LotP) to crit your secondary tank. The health gain effect can only occur once per MC, and its a 5% in the worst case.
Also, I'm not even sure if Hakkar still gets the buff if you have a mage sheep the druid.
This was back during the Naxx days. We were attempting Loatheb and decided to try the "all priests go shadow" strategy to healing. I had never put a single point into shadow, even when leveling my priest from day 1, but I was willing to go along with the strat. So we all port back to IF to respec. I start looking over the shadow tree and start filling it out all the way up to Shadowform. I get back to Naxx and we begin. We wipe, horribly, and the officers start looking over the logs for the fight. The raid leader sends me a tell "why weren't you using Mind Flay?" I respond, "I don't have that spell in my spell book." The obvious question of why not, and this my response word for word: "I didn't figure snaring Loatheb would be that useful."
Yes, ladies and gentlemen, I am a shadow priest noob. Luckily I have never been asked to repsec into shadow ever again. And I am very happy as a healer.
I've enjoyed all these other stories, so here's one of mine.
So I figure at level 70, agro range in ZG shouldn't be an issue. For the most part I was right. We went back to ZG to track do a Doll for one of our tanks trying to get the enchant. I'm a naturally helpful person so I just wandered around mobs and went and found Hoodoo piles. There were 6 of us this night, doing something different for a chance of pace.
I opened one. Got MC'd, had a HoT on me from a Resto druid. Me, and all the mobs around me that I had ignored, ran over and started beating on the other team members.
It wouldn't have been an issue if the MC'd version of me didn't pop Heroism. I'm fairly sure I saw over 10 little hammers come up over peoples and raptors heads, and watched our healers and DPS gets blitzed down. My bad. We've got a screenshot somewhere. No one lets me go back to ZG on my Shaman anymore.
