Oddly enough weve never had a SW:D suicide during RoS but....
Scene: What has to be the 8th or so RoS kill for us, maybe more let's just say it was a long time since our first win.
Actor: basically 100% attendance warlock.
Plot: Curse of !@#!@##!@# DOOM during p2.
This same night I ate 7 out of 9 swings through 80% dodge during p1. <3 rng <3<3/wrist

I haven't done RoS so I don't know if he swings much faster than normal, but he's complaining of RNG death. Unless RoS normally wouldn't swing 9 times in 15 seconds, even with the hasten from the Enrage, he's not blaming the parries.
And as I trudge through this PuG SSC, I'm surprised people still don't know that any buff or health/mana gain causes threat. Mage just dragged Hydross across the line in the first transition

While learning dragonhawk, we discovered he could be easily reset. As I tanked him opposite the stairs you approach him at, I figured I ought to test if he can be reset by dragging him down those stairs. It would speed up wipe recovery a little if I could just move a couple steps instead dragging him across the entire platform.
Yes, you can reset him down those stairs. Unfortunately, it's not so easy to get back up.
Edit from guildy input: I did manage to top myself on a later attempt. Glancing up at bigwigs, I noticed it slowly counting down to an enrage. I'd noticed Bigwigs mentioned a 10 minute berserk timer at the start of every pull. It hadn't FELT like 10 minutes, but if bigwigs said he's about to enrage and he's nowhere close to death, I ought to just reset him and save us the repair bill. My guildies assumed I was far smarter than I am and said nothing as I dragged him across the platform and reset him just before his soft enrage. I changed my guild title to Idiot King.

The best ever MD I've ever seen was a hunter wearing a bunch of blues and greens in kara who quite clearly had just dinged 70. Lucky they removed the need for attunement!
After about 3 minutes worth of asking, then shouting at him in raid warning to misdirect to the tank, he finally figured it out. He said "ok i found the button" in raid chat, and put misdirect on the warrior tank, who proceeded to run up to the pull spot. Our very cluey hunter then sat at the back of the raid near the doors, happily waiting for the warrior to pull.
The sad part was, he's a person I know IRL and I had to stick up for him in raid chat, citing "he's new at games and only just hit 70" while really knowing what I meant to say was "he's terrible at games and should have never hit 70"

I'm sure lots of people have this story, but it was amusing to me.
A little background: I'm a hardcore raider stuck on a server where raiding has been dead since just after the BC launch. For some perspective on what I mean, no horde guild had stepped foot inside MH or BT until 2.4 when the attunement requirements were lifted. (I play here because it's where my RL friends play.) So, what is a hardcore raider to do when there's no raiding to be done? Let's just say that I have 5 characters that are at minimum revered with Violet Eye. I never thought I'd say this about any instance ever again, but I think I might have spent more of my life in Kara than I did in MC. Needless to say, I get bored, and have a bad habit of treating Kara as a series of amusing mini-games.
For the most recent of these, I was on my warrior and thought, "I wonder how much time I can stay out of the red beam on Netherspite." So, I toss on a relatively high-avoidance set, play around with him in the first portal phase for a bit to reacclimate myself to the fight as it'd been a while since I'd done it. Third portal phase rolls around and it's my turn back in the beam, so I put it to the test. I hop in, jump up to 45k health, and dance in and out a little. Around 25 or 30 seconds into the phase, I hop out and don't get hit for a while. A bunch of dodges/parries/misses later, he gets a hit in, so I pop my pocket watch. Dodge dodge dodge parry, etc. Pocket watch fades, he gets another hit in. I glance at my health, see that I'm still at over half of my 37 or 38k health, and there's < 15 seconds left in the portal phase. I start thinking I might make it through the rest of the portal phase without having to hop back into the beam for the heal.
I've clearly neglected to remember three things here:
1) The red beam also decreases the damage you take by 1% every second you're in it. This can be a fairly significant amount of mitigation.
2) The RNG hates me. With a passion. You'd think I'd called its mother something I'd rather not say here. (That may actually have happened.)
3) The red beam buff only lasts for 20 seconds after you leave it, not 30.
I blame Guinness for (1) and (3).
A little over 10 seconds left on the portal phase, I'm sitting pretty at about 20k / 38k health. Enter an unfortunate series of events. First, I see in big letters in the middle of my screen: "Parry (Shield Slam)". Uh oh. Wham, wham! two hits for 8k in a row (thank you parry mechanics), and I go running for the red beam right as the buff fades and it won't heal me. Needless to say, it ended up being one of those entirely avoidable, stupid < 5% wipes. Amusing in hindsight, but damn did I feel dumb.

Last night was guild Knights of Shadows' first trip into the depths of SSC. As I'm sure most of you know - or if you don't, just read the rest of this thread - SSC is somewhat of a death trap/idiot check for new raiders. All that notwithstanding, the raid leader (yours truly) is smarter than your average dwarf, so somehow we managed to pull all the way to Lurker without wiping on any of the trash. This including a half-dozen face pulls from being unfamiliar with the huge aggro range of mobs in the instance, so all in all, I was impressed. We fish up the Lurker and he proceeds to farm us for epics. During the wipe recovery, I run over to one of the platforms and rez our boomkin class lead. She pops up, I turn around, I hear a splash followed by a variation of "Oh crap" from said boomkin. Apparently, she forgot the water is still boiling, and had neglected to heal herself before jumping into the water to get back on her platform.

It's probably been done before, but I was amused:
On a usual Karazhan badge run for alts, I got called in on my prot paladin to solo tank it (It's usually 9 alts and 1 main, and this time my main got picked), as we cleared out Moroes' room someone manages to pull Moroes as we're clearing the 2nd table of ads. Queue emergency avenging wrath + consecrate and me subsequently tanking moroes, all of his ads, a table of ads from across the room and 2 of the larger elites that were stood next to the wall. It was certainly a change of pace from the usual "Oh god need mana" overgeared Karazhan tanking :-p

Agreed 100% on the usefulness of Searing Totems placed right. Since this is the "Stupid Things People Do" thread, I guess Netherspite hopelessly breathing all over a Searing Totem during every portal phase I've ever had with a Shaman around qualifies. It's pretty funny watching him completely ignore the 100k health worth of players behind him while failing miserably to dent the 5 health of my totem.
Anyway, back to Kara with one of my guildies. He gave new style to the Malchezaar shadow priest self-gib this weekend. Enter mid phase 1. He's a good player, and watches his timers so he knows when not to Death (i.e. anywhere near Enfeeble). A minute or so in, he very nearly lags out and is in the process of calling me to tell me so. About 30 seconds later, the lag wears off (with him still on the phone telling me) and he instantly drops dead. Why? The last key he hit before the lag spike was SW: D, and he unlagged right into an Enfeeble.
Cue battle rez. He gets back up, does fine until P3. You can already see where this is going, probably. He's at full health, pops a SW: D. Right then, axes turn to him, he gets Pained, and the reflected damage kills him. Clearly not his night

As a Shaman not despawning your totems during the scout-phase between the second and third boss in Zul'Aman
Not stupid, just fun is as a Shaman to buff people with Water Walking when they jump from a high place into the water (for example the bridge to water at the back entrance of Karazhan).

Does this still work? On my Shaman alt I've buffed people with water walking while in midair, and they've just fallen through the surface of water like they didn't have WW.

It went off during P2, during a Deaden, Curse of Doom - 21,932, didn't help that he also had a Shadowbolt crit 0.391 seconds later for 15,459, I think that all of the warlocks laughed a bit about that one.
Though we did have a slightly drunk Shadow Priest kill themselves...5 times? in 1 RoS kill, now that was funny, it was their last raid before heading off to Basic Training, his wife laughed at him quite a bit for that one.
In all seriousness, here's why you died, and I'm laughing pretty hard about it Cos:

It works the way it always has: if they right-click the buff off(as many people have become accustomed to doing when falling a long way into water), or angle the camera down when they hit the water, they'll go right through. It's like walking on water in ghost form: if you right-click the camera angle past 45 degrees down, you'll go right through. Damned useful for me when I'm running to Karazhan: I jump off a stone bridge, parachute cloak, water-walk along the surface of the water, then when I jump off the drop right before I get to the back entrance I drop through the water so I don't take damage and lose the buff.

Yay, I finally have an opportunity to post in this thread!
We're doing Mag a couple of days ago with some new people, including an arms warrior who was tasked with tanking one of the channelers. We're rebuffing after a wipe and setting up for the pull. The RL tell the warrior "Go stand over by your channeler so you can grab them when we start."
. . . at which point the warrior walks over and smacks the channeler right in the face.
Thankfully, we managed to down him that time, even though our MT was tanking 3 channelers at one point . . .

I was tanking HKM last night, and was a bit overeager ... as soon as he got MDed to me, I charged and popped Enrage, which got me absolutely pasted by Maulgar, Olm and Krosh simultaneously. I guess it's worth walking over to him to let other people get some aggro. :o(

On the night of our first HKM kill, I have to admit there were times when I didn't think we'd be able to do it. We were short one well-geared tank for the encounter, so we used our (crittable and crushable) up-and-coming prot warrior to tank the priest. He clearly didn't grasp the concept of a misdirect pull, and would continually edge closer to the mobs while we were buffing up prior to the pull, as if he was going to use his gun. I never gave it much thought until we were rezzing after one wipe; he went down to his tanking spot to wait while we rezzed the rest of the dead, and the next thing I know, I hear Maulgar roaring, "Gronn are the real power in Outland!" Warrior went splat, followed by five very angry ogres lumbering toward the half-composed raid.

Oh, what a wonderful thread. Made my (work-)day.
I'll never forget how our former 25-man main tank, not especially accustomed to raidleading by himself, did a spontaneous kara-badge-run with some bored guildies some months ago. Apparently it took ALL his concentration (warrior, low int, you know *snicker*) to announce Aran's casts for everyone:
"Flame Wreath! No one moves!"
Everyone stood still. Except him. To my complete astonishment, he started(!) running across the room while uttering those words - and exploded with 4 others. We managed to bash Aran down anyways. After the fight, when asked what he was thinking he stated "I wasn't".
I remember another oddity done by one of our shadow priests some time ago in TK. Instead of running away from Thaladred the Darkener like everyone else, he got focused and started running directly in Thaladred's arms, to everyone's amazement. One-hit, of course. We were never able to find out why he did that. I still suspect he was heavily drunk that night.
