Could someone go check out the playable Wrath and see Paladin talent trees, specially Retribution?
There was huge changes to Enchanment shaman tree, really eager to hear if something similiar is made for Retribution.

Those really arent what I call major changes. Is there anything else not in those pics? Some more damage from shocks is nice, but otherwise it'll have zero PvE impact (30% is definately a large number tho, so I'm going to hold of on my 'final' judgement :P). Seems enhancement shammies are going to have to drop resto and put all spare points into elemental.
(btw, what happened to 2-handed axes and maces? Removed altogether or trainer-skill?)

I would sell my left nut for this kind of change. Its just insane improvement for the combat durability when combined with Shamanistic rage. Just, unimaginable.

It's not clear from the orginal poster ( WoW Forums -> Talent changes from Blizzcon) seems like just a normal skill from his description and not having to visit a trainer.

So whats your opinion about wrath so far? Are you exited or are you maybe disappointed?
I tend to compare this expansion to WAR (Warhammer) as they will came out in about same time and I will have to choose one of those two (I always tend to focus on one game). I had hope that Blizzard will be afraid of WAR and put a lot of new things and big changes.
Lets sum up new things:
- 3rd enchanting
- DK
- PvP only zone (will they do anything to lure people there from bg grind?)
- siege weapons in bg
- new skills and talents
Not too much if you ask me. Of course there is more coming like threat meter, boss mods and 20-60 revamp but its not really expansion exclusive.
I am not exited... I asked friends they aren't too, "where are new things?" they ask and so am I? Yes new zones, new items, new 5/10/25 mans but its not something really new. Where are new features? For example NPC for atleast normal 5 mans when you cannot find people for it (tank/healer), some epic outdoor PvP events (siege of any capital city) etc.
As I said I had little hope for some big changes to lure me out of WAR and I can't see them.

If you read through the information they gave at Blizzcon, I believe it was wowinsider where I saw it transcribed, the Death Knight will be unlocked via a quest chain at lvl 80 (similar to Warlock Epic Mount) and you will not need to be a raider to get it.

Elemental focus will change the mana cost of the next two spells. Changed to 40% less mana cost instead of 60%, though.

I don't think we're in a position to a good call at this stage - it really comes down to how things are implemented. They got a lot right with TBC interesting zones and quests are just two examples I think the positives of what they've did have been overlooked with some of the issues that became apparent in the months since the 1st expansion. I'm not expecting it to be any different with this – we'll need to sit back and see how the information on talents, instances etc unfolds over the next few months. The developers may be slow – but I don't think they're stupid – more of the same isn't necessarily a bad thing if they have listened and learnt from the 1st expansion such as reputation grinds, attunement and enounter balance.
One of the interesting things I found when re-reading all the information today was that they are looking at re-balancing realm population for the servers where there are only a few raiding guilds (Can't locate the exact link sorry) – this may not excite everyone but it's good news to people trapped on low-pop servers.

While a 25 -> 30 change will not be as extreme, it will be a change nonetheless, and once again throw raid balancing, an already sensitive task, even further out of alignment.
|
And adding a new class with a myriad of talents (not called a Hero class for nothing) isn't going to throw that balance off? If anything, moving the cap to 30 allows some current classes to remain raiders. Otherwise, you'll see 20 death knights and a couple of mages and resto druids in a raid.

Considering that 90% of this thread has been hyberbole and "drama-queenery", I guess it is easy to misunderstand someone.
And while I don't expect anything from Blizz till the pr rush has faded, I would like to hear more about the DK's talents and how the class will fit into a 25-man raid. And how future Hero classes will be implemented.

Flying mounts for those few engineers left, IMO. Wonder if I could justify 310%, I'd wager 375 engineers are 'bout as rare as Gladiator ranked people.

It would be just the same thing Gnomish Engineering was always for: Having wonderful toys to play with. I am playing on a roleplaying server in a gnomish engineering guild. Would be absolutely perfect for us.

Keep in mind what Blizzard announces tends to end up a bit different from what is released. Karazhan was going to have a mirror dungeon and a transportation system inside it; TBC was supposed to have more zones and PVP objectives in every zone and of course 2.1 was really what TBC was supposed to be.
I would venture a guess that DK's will undergo radical changes, perhaps even releasing the game with 1-2 more hero classes. Otherwise too many people will simply "upgrade" to DK and servers will end up looking like Jan07 launch servers, where 60%+ of the population consists of Blood Elfs.
Overall interesting plans, and confirms that Blizzard is happy with the overall "design" of the game and the content paths available to players. I was hoping for more radical changes to bring me back, but I will probably still end up sub'ing for 3-4 months around the expansion release time, the level quest/instancing is one of the most fun parts of the game and of course gotta try out a DK.
Very interesting they plan on releasing a new 25 man, I would guess they will keep that in reserve so in case the expansion is delayed slightly they can release it to check WAR/AOC. I wonder what Blizzard is setting for a release date on WLK, obviously 2007 is probably out of the question, summertime isn't a great time to release video games, so spring 2008 or fall 2008? 1 year seems way too long, but given ZA is ~2 months out, then assuming a new 25 man 5 months out, its hard to see an expansion just 2-3 months after the next level 70 25 man...

Yep that's pretty much what I was thinking too. I can't imagine them releasing WLK before March or so given that the new 25-man is probably in the late-October timeframe.
For reference, TBC was announced late October 2005, well over a year before it was released. Without having to do two new starting areas I doubt WLK will take as long, but still, i wouldn't expect a release any time soon.

That stuff goes obsolete. The crawdad doesn't. So the crawdad has more value. Two xpacs from now when I'm level 90 I'll still probably use my crawdad. Haven't heard anything about what new "permanent" items or concepts are being included this time around.
|
They could easily make permanent items but then people would be crying they are tired of the same old graphic. Druids know this well
But seriously they could make class weapons and armor that is basic and then upgraded by questing and raiding.
So you killed Onyxia? You stabbed her with your class dagger and now that she is dead it is infused with some of her power, thus your DPS on the dagger goes up and maybe some stats and now it glows a dark red color. You could even get to name your weapon so it could be called "Super Dagger <Black Dragonslayer>" with <Black Dragonslayer> being on everyones weapons that has kill Onyxia and maybe even titles now you can choose what title your weapon has, along with naming it.
Armor you could slay Gruul and get his head and place it on one of your shoulder pads, scaled down of course and it gives you new stats etc.
It could be cumulative as well, so if you are new and never got Quel Serrar, the High blade, well your weapon will forever be missing stats and or abilities along with a title until you DO go and get it and make your weapon that much more powerful.
This could even be tied into professions. You could have blacksmiths change the general look of your weapon and the same for armor with BS, LW and tailors. They could take new weapons found, new graphics, and take your old weapon and bind its essence to the new weapon, so you could go from daggers to maces if you like.
All in all this would be cool I would love to have a weapon for a long time and have all of these trinkets and feathers and dragon scales and odd glows on my class stave.

If you are going to call something a 'Hero' class...to me that implies better than a regular class. Is that just me? What is Blizzard's definition of a hero class, just different, not better? Because if it is better...I dont see why they would introduce them one at a time, piecemeal, over the course of multiple expansions. Its a balance nightmare. On the other hand if its different, and not better, what is the point? Spend the time on the existing classes IMO.

That was my question at the panel.
The near exact way I phrased it was (after mentioning that the prior person already asked my part on Heroics) - "I recall that you had originally mentioned the plan for a third zone for the blood elf area. With patch 2.4 or 2.5 or whatever including a new 25-man, the Sunwell Grove or Sunwell Plateau sure sounds like it would make sense - especially with the tie-ins to Arthas and the whole expansion."
His response was first to turn a bit red, then to state that "Wow, that sure would be interesting, wouldn't it. Our P.R. department doesn't allow me to talk about this, but it sure would be..." in the tone of voice that flat out said "The next dungeon is the Sunwell" - crowd burst into yelling cheers.
Awww yeah... ask the right questions - I'd speculated that this was going to be the next dungeon in that other thread we had on "What do you expect from Blizzcon?"
Hoping to get to ask some more fun questions this morning at the professions panel.
