How does this interact with Pushback protection talents/abilities? Is a hit that would've counted as a "first hit" ignored only as pushback, but counted as a "first hit" - leaving us with almost a 50% chance of no-pushback at all with 70% resistance - or does it hold the counting of the first hit until a hit gets by the pushback protection?

There's about three or so different new faces and skin tones (typically a "frosty white", "corpsey grey/green", and "darkly decomposed") for the death knights, and each has three or four or so hair colors. Can mix and match the new skin tones and old faces (although the latter are generally bugged and show old skin tones), but currently not vice versa. You do have to choose from the new hair colors; generally a light grey, very pale blonde, or dark blue. Some races have additional hair colors; dwarves have a very pale red, night elves have greens and purples, and so on.
Currently no new skins/faces for Forsaken death knights though. Not sure if this is due to it being incomplete (you can't select facial options currently with troll and tauren DKs, a few hairstyles have missing polygons, and so on) or because forsaken are just dead enough already.

I am sorry if this is common knowledge, but..
The new shield Naxxramas Tank Shield - World of Raids Gallery (Naxx badge reward it says) is probably ilvl ~180.
Used calculation of:
Epic shield armor value = ilvl*40.70 + 191
Or ilvl epic shield = (armor value - 191)/40.70
Edit: only shield that didn't follow my formula was The Green Tower. Rest of epic shields do perfectly, so I am quite confident this formula is quite sound Only thing that is a bit strange is that the new shield should really have had 7517 armor, not 7530.

Wowhead gives a listed item level of 200 for the 3 crafted epic maces (1H DPS is borked though), the 6 plate epics and both Naxxramas shields.
Armour values for items past ilvl 115 have been pretty wonky.

Odd, since even the legendary shield from Kael'thas encounter (legendary ilvl 175) follows this formula.
For rare shields I came up with:
armor value rare shield = ilvl*31.8 + 149
ilvl rare shield = (armor value - 149)/31.8
And:
armor value uncommon shield = ilvl*28,33 + 133
ilvl uncommon shield = (armor value - 133)/28,33

Given that the "all epics" achievement wants players to have an average ilvl of 213, I believe, I doubt that Naxx loot wouldn't fulfill this criteria.

Low-end badge vendor loot then?
Based on the armor value (which as said has been constant throughout WoW and TBC with formulae posted above) these shields are approximately ilvl 180. If they are ilvl 213 then they significantly nerfed the amount of armor a certain ilvl gives to a shield.
That is certainly possible. But I posted it to maybe get an idea of what kind of ilvls we can expect early on.
I think a jump from 164 (Kil'Jaeden) to 180 (early badge rewards) is not at all unreasonable, myself.
Remember: Kel'Thuzad loot was 89-92, early badge loot (and Karazhan after a buff) was 110-115.

This is somewhat interesting, it has two different + ap mods and armour penetration rating. Does anyone know whether these recipies are datamined or linked from the beta servers?

I've seen someone link them ingame, so I guess they're avail/accessible ingame via the trainer at least, since iirc they prevented linking stuff that doesn't exist. Not sure if thye made saronite smeltable though.

They did make Saronite smeltable. I also saw the dagger and asked in guild what it meant, and someone said it worked like ArP but it reduces the enemy target a by a % and not a flat amount. Interesting if true.

There's always stuff like... Season 7 in future to make it pretty easy. :P lv200+ -on average- would be pretty much a stretch for anything before the second raid tier or so, by my estimation.
Also about armor/dps values, remember that it's a beta, and a lot of stuff is/are placeholder. Remember Sunwell items and all the armor values being defaulted to lv141, some of the items of which weren't fixed till ~2 weeks before Live deployment?

I had a chance to look at the death knight last night and tonight, and I have a couple of questions that really lingered in my mind after completing the starting area for DK's.
|
A) Who is Ellen Standridge, and what is she to the character? (Or, more generally, who are each of the various prisoners that we're supposed to kill?) I read the flavor text, but it seemed to have some holes in it.
B) Perhaps I'm missing something, but everything I'd read prior to this said that as the character moves along in the starting area, he slowly experiences disgust at the doings of the Ebon Hand.
I saw no signs of that. Even killing my friend (lover? sister?), there was no reaction from the character, other than to go running back and say 'I did it. Reward me.' Everything about the whole opening area shows nothing but blind obedience to the Lich King and his underlings. I saw no flavor text, quest text, or anything else that showed an awakening of conscience. And then the final event occurs, Morgraine turns into a whiny little snot, and I'm supposed to follow his lead...with more blind obedience? Why am I no longer loyal to the Lich King, and where was my choice for that? The event is very touching, I suppose...but there's not even a canned response from the character saying 'Yes, I will follow your lead!'
At the very end, all I wanted to do was go out in the world and kill more Scarlets. And there's no reaction that I saw from my character that does anything to change that. Did I miss something along the way?

And why the heck is Baron Rivendare alive? He was killed prior to this for progression quest chains, correct?

A) It's just a random character that you have supposedly known when you were still alive, before you became a death knight, and act as an emotional switch to make you lean toward going back to the "Good" side.
B) I think the character reactions are implied, you just keep doing whatever you're told because you're a servant of the Lich King and probably still confused. You, as a player, however, have enough time to understand what's going on around you. You're like the "conscience" of your character, slowly awakening and being able to see what's really going on. But as a general rule, your character never directly express his feelings, at best the NPCs you talk to notice your disbelief and comment on it, stuff like that. It's all up to the player to do the thinking. You can also /say stuff if you feel like roleplaying ^^.
C) Baron Rivendrare isn't dead when this happens, it all happens before the original wow timeline. It's before the naxxramas invasion. It's before the scourge raped the whole place really, it's when they're still fighting there. Gothik(or the other I forgot the name of) actually ask you to make Cauldrons, so you can assume there has been no cauldrons in the plaguelands yet.

I think they are in the process of converting armour penetration to rating, considering they changed how it's displayed in your character pane and also the fact that armour penetration on items doesn't actually work at the moment.

This is wrong. There are a number of plot points in the opening DK area to indicate that the events taking place there are 100% modern and occuring at the same time as the rest of the opening of WLK.

'War' is too small a word for what I'm fighting. Like a candle in front of the whole burning Sun. Now, I am not going to die today. I have other projects, and other options.

In the character pane where armor penetration usually is it currently says:
Enemy Armor Reduced by up to 0.00%
My items still say -175 armor etc. like normal. It feels like i'm not getting my old 1300 armor penetration bonus either. So currently its a bit bugged and they are playing with changing armor penetration to rating.

At the rate items gained ArP from what we saw they would have to increase base armor for everyone rather significantly if they left it in its current state.
Reducing target armor by a % will help protect casters from getting destroyed at base armor values (and to chop through plate users...) but unless it reduces armor before all other effects (FF / Sunder / Expose) it will be rather poor.

I don't think thats correct...they just scrapped the whole 'old' Naxxramas storyline and replaced it with a new one. As you proceed to destroy Havenshire and New Avalon during the introductionary quests, you uncover that the Scarlet Crusade is preparing to leave for Northrend, a journey which, according to Abbendis' diary you later find in New Herathglen, took a few month, but certainly not the entirety of WoW established timeline.
The bosses from Naxxramas are there because nobody killed them yet, same as Baron Rivendare. Sure, there is a quest asking you to bring his head to LHC, but they just pretend nobody completed it yet. High General Abbendis is still around, and she's been killed countless times, too (Blzzard even lampshades this in her diary - "all those resurections").
NPCs are considered dead or alive as it fits the plot, and not all available quests necessarily really happen in the 'official' timeline.

You are your character. Those reactions are for you to determine for yourself. If the game determined your reaction for you, it wouldn't be a role-playing game.

also incorrect...in an alliance Dragonblight quest they make reference to the fact that the phylactery of KT was taken to a false member of the Brotherhood of the Light, Father Inigo Montoy, to Northrend and Arthas to be resurrected [further being killed and resurrected by Arthas as a Lich to be killed by the player in the aforementioned Dragonblight quest]. The Baron also makes note (in the instanced starter area) that Stratholme needs a new Magistrate (since players already killed Magistrate Barthilas prior to TBC/WotLK). Citizens of New Avalon are happy that Naxxramas has disappeared from the plaguelands. All of this put the deathknight starter area after the end of Vanilla WoW's timeline. Since Arthas was also present in the starter version of EPL, he probably came down, resurrected all the bosses and put Naxx into cleanup and sent Kel'Thuzad back with Naxx to DBlight to recoup. The bosses all departed with Arthas at the Battle of Light Hope's Chapel.
