I'd say it's not a shelf priority. If they can get it done pre-launch, then yay. If not, they'll just patch it in later.
I wouldn't regard it as dismissed, though.

It looks like the latest beta patch is a reduction in power for the vast majority of classes. Most are taking a hit to their damage

That's not surprising. Shamans and Druids are the only 2 classes (I believe) where they've stated the damage isn't where they want it to be yet.

Warlocks, mages, and rogues don't appear to have damage reductions in place. That's likely because they had bugs giving them obscene damage which has hopefully been fixed.
Also lots of new pve stuff to try out, should be fun

Well, you know that racials debate we were having? This seems like a nice little curveball.
Don't get too used to it though, this is beta! The next build will feature three significant changes to racials.
"The Fall of Humanity": removed
We'll be trying out a new Human racial in its place...
"Every Man for Himself": Removes all movement impairing effects and all effects which cause loss of control of your character. This effect shares a cooldown with other similar effects.
also, a significant change to Shadowmeld...
"Shadowmeld: Activate to slip into the shadows, reducing the chance for enemies to detect your presence. Lasts until cancelled or upon moving. Any threat is restored versus enemies still in combat upon cancellation of this effect."
Yes, it can be used in combat. Yes, the effect is very similar to what was previously "The Fall of Humanity". The cooldown is 3 min.
|
|
Correct, as it states it shares a cooldown with other similar effects (the pvp trinket). So, you essentially gain flexibility regarding what to do with that slot.
|
I think the balance just overwhelmingly went to Humans as best race, and Night Elves as best tanking race.

That seems like a pretty massive buff to humans. Specifically for classes which do not need maximum resilience, since humans would be losing the resilience gained from the pvp trinket. This racial leaves a sour taste in my mouth, both as a human and a non-human. As a non-human I'm losing a trinket slot in pvp which could add significantly, as trinkets can be very powerful due to use or proc effects. As a human I'm a little annoyed that my racial is something which is replaced by an easy to acquire trinket, and does not stack with it, as say Blood Fury stacks with other ap/spell damage trinkets.

Looks like badges can be used to purchase shoulders and weapons that are bind-on-account, and scale with level.

Somehow I feel that this change will increase the average arena rating more than the old perception.
Currently, every class is "forced" to wear the PvP trinket to PvP effectively. Removing it from humans not only give them a chance to have more customization of gear than other races but also more dps/healing/sta depending on what you wear.

Two things.
First of all, the Bind on Account item is awesome.
Secondly,
|
As a human I'm a little annoyed that my racial is something which is replaced by an easy to acquire trinket, and does not stack with it, as say Blood Fury stacks with other ap/spell damage trinkets.
|
But, considering Blood fury, couldn't the same thing be said the other way around? Blood fury type buffs are attainable from a trinket of that level, and the trinket could arguably be better. But that trinket slot, instead, has to be used for a PvP trinket. So they don't gain more damage.
Likewise, your trinket slot, then can be used to get a buff that probably falls in the same ballpark as Blood Fury.

That's really cool! Not only does it give a good use for those old rotting badges (get gear for your new toons) but they are clearly reusing the old DS1 names/models! Wouldn't it be simply fabulous to run around Westfall with the Lightforge Weather Vanes?

Are they requiring lvl70 BoJ or the new badges?
If it is the later, seems like it is part of the plan to make leveling Alts much less time consuming with the massive buffs on those gear.

Looking at the top left of that picture, I see the Chestguard of the Lost Conqueror available for 80 badges.
Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that the Naxx-10 T7 token? Chestguard of the Lost Conqueror

They are purchased via Emblem of Valor.
Emblem of Valor - Achievement - World of Warcraft
This is by-far the coolest thing they've ever done. Levelling alts just got interesting.
Important point of note is the "Requires Level 1 to 80 (78)" caption. The bracketed "78" indicates that the gear scales to your current level. So you can equip them at level 1 and have them increase in level each time you do.
The Chestguard of the Lost Conqueror for sale brings forth 2 possible conclusions:
1) They won't bother with T4-equivalent Badge gear like they did in the past. You farm badges and buy the tiered tokens directly. This statement alone will bring forth an entire new discussion of distaste.
2) It's temporarily for sale for testing purposes.

Every Man for Himself, also have some PvE implications too. Taking some level 70 content as example, fighting Archimonde and twins, players usually wear their PvP trinket to break fear and conflag. With this change, they could just wear their old trinket and do more dps/healing.
Also in that screenshot, I saw the swift hand of justice. Is it a lvl80 trinket, or the same Bind on Account mechanics as the the rest of the "adjective" to lvl60 name gear?

Eredar Twins is another good example of this; but ultimately it's not going to be the game-breaking element to determine whether or not you kill the boss.

But does it really have to? I mean, if badges are based off of their particular instances, that means that T7 tokens come from Naxx 10 and the other T7 10 man's around. So if you're acquiring the badges, you're clearly working your way through some part of these dungeons.
Then for T7.5, you can attain that maybe from the badges you get in Naxx-25 and Ulduar-10. And that way, it's still fair. Lots of time, increased effort, just in case the token you need or want never drops or you want to add to your off spec loot. It's not like the badges from Naxx-10 can be saved a ton and then used on gear from Ulduar or Azjol-Nerub or what have you.

BoA items are a very nice addition. However I am wondering wether they will be only attainable through Badges (which implies: not from PvP).
Am I the only one who is considering to play alliance in wotlk if the new shadowmeld will work like vanish/FD for wipes meaning the end of corpse running in raids including NE Druids/Priests?

What are the limitations on BoA items? Can you send them to your alts on the other faction? On a different server? Or is it just for same faction alts on the same server?

You can't hand over Soulbound items for another player to give to your alt, so the only way to pass it to an alt is via mail.
Mail isn't cross-faction or cross-server, so intuitively you can only pass it between alts in the same server of the same faction.

Or maybe once you "buy" the item on one of your toon it becomes available to all of your toon. It clearly states "bind to account" not "bind to server".

I'd be surprised, and disappointed, if the only way to pass the gear on to alts was through mail.
I would like to see some extra tab in your characters bank where all the BoAccount stuff were stored, so it was usable cross faction, and cross server.

Don't read too much into that, "Binds to any character on your account which is on the same server and faction as the character who earned the badges to buy this item" is a bit too wordy to fit on an item description. If I had to pick between that and "Binds to account" I think I'd just choose to just deal with the slight confusion possibly caused by the latter.
It'd be nice if you could transfer them to any character though. I'm currently leveling an alt (very slowly) on a friend's server, and Blizzard certainly seems to realise that making that easier is a good thing and much appreciated by the players.

Aside from the Bind on Account discussion: did anyone else notice that the item posted in this topic is actually a plate item for level 1? I wonder if it is intended to be a true level 1 item, or if it will "reduce" itself to mail if it is on a sub-level 40 character. Or, alternatively, that you just can't use it untill level 40 (meaning that cloth/leather classes will have it easy in terms of number of badges required).
The same would of course go for mail items.
