Excitement, and speculation that reflects that excitement, is OK. Those found guilty of doomsday pissing and moaning will receive zero tolerance.

They could also just make the Death Knight start at level 60, but require twice the amount of normal xp for each level. I thought there was plenty of content in TBC personally, I didn't even do 1 quest in Blade's Edge when I made it to 70 and I think I skipped a couple Auchindon instances. I imagine 70-80 will have a similar amount of content or more. Would deter a larger group of people from automatically making a death knight alt
One thing I have a love hate relationship with is having to level again with a gear reset. The nicest thing about it is definitely the aspect of reentering 5 mans with a fresh face and challenging aspect, as it is extremely hard to do say after TBC has been out a year due to gear differences. I loved heroic instances pre-nerf, felt like every pull I was playing a new game instead of just fulfilling a role.

The issue is hosting for a gig file, and getting it uploaded in under 5 minutes. You realize the internet for most people not directly hooked up to a T1 line is rather slow right?

I don't see why they would change the profession system so that you wouldn't be able to "inscribe" other players' gear just like any profession they have now. I doubt they'd force anyone into a single profession.

Should have followed the Boy Scout motto. I had a fiber-optic gigabit line jacked directly into my brain yesterday so I could simultaneously download every cell phone pic and streaming movie coming out of BlizzCon. Its working quite well, but I'm starting to get a nasty headache!

OKAY HERE ARE SOME GROUND RULES
You can speculate on what you think would be cool or interesting. You can speculate on how you think things may interact with each other in some way.
You may post information and screenshots, please do lots of this
You can NOT however:
Speculate on how things will be overpowered or unbalanced, how things that are introduced in the expansion will make you, your profession, your class, your favorite ability or your dog "useless".
Cry about how a new expansion makes your current playing a "waste of time"
Derail this into yet another discussion about how certain things will be only accessible to a certain percentage of the population, go on about casual/hardcore

I'm uploading it to Filefront and trying to scale it down so I can YouTube it or something along those lines. These things to take significant time, however.

There was a post yesterday on these boards from someone who seemed to have insider information - Scribing is said to be a secondary profession, so everyone can get it - you won't be forced to drop existing professions. That being so, think of it like Cooking, only turned up until the knob falls off.

Purported screenshot of a Death Knight ability, Unholy Embrace - basically a reverse shield that you place on a target. Renders 50% of the healing done to the target as damage (AND the target receives no healing). Does the same for competing shields, lasting 6 seconds. Edit: - Missed the previous inclusion of this ability in the thread, sorry!
Also, though I don't have a trailer to post, highlights included some very nice shots of the landscape of the Howling Fjord and Crystalsong Forest, a brief look at some of the Scourge Viking dudes (Vrykul, apparently - they are rather taller than PCs), a few pretty shots of what I believed to be inside instances (including a nice flame effect), a segment of a human Priest being DESTROYED by a huge Magnataur, and the Paladin running away, being surrounded by undead, and coming up as a Death Knight.
When you are watching it - note that there are a LOT of dragons that appear in various scenes. More than I would have expected. A possible hint of a larger involvement of the Dragonflights in the affairs of the expansion? Edit: - Okay, watching it again, maybe not that many dragons. ^_^

I don't want to burn my spells as well as my food >_<
Anyway, if that's the case then it seems like the 'alternate advancement' that is so needed to distinguish yourself from the hundreds of other people with the same gear/class/spec/race/etc.

It might sound a little cosmetic - but what I really liked about outland was the wild/whacky sky/ and dynamic looking environments etc like shadowmoon/netherstorm/hellfire. I really hope Northrend maintains this kind of cosmetic design, I really dont want 10 new zones that just feel like new zones, aka 'a forest' or 'a desert' - we have too much of this in vanilla wow already.
The zones in outland really felt new and special compared to anything that original wow have. I hope northrend is along those lines.

Well, the Bronze are always interested in saving the world, and the Blue would certainly be in Northrend, if anywhere. And the Black are always up to something naughty... plus there's another Great Tree in Northrend, so there should at least be Green Dragon #5... I bet you missed the sleepytime mist!
edit: and we can't possibly forget the Dragonblight, where all dragons go to die. I'm sure the Scourge have kindly left the graves where they are.

Inscribing as a secondary talent surely would help out all the raiding casters due to not having to drop a proffession slot to pick it up, but I wonder what it will have for melee/hybrids?
Will there be some way to "inscribe" your Sinister Strike to perhaps steal back a bit of life, or cause a stacking minor debuff?
I can't see this becoming a secondary profession without some kind of worthwhile reason for non-casters to pick it up.

Rather than using rage, energy, or mana, Death Knights have a special "rune sword" displayed beneath their health bar, onto which the player can etch six different runes (choose between Frost, Blood, and Unholy). Different abilities require different mixes of runes, and using abilities consumes the requisite runes until a cooldown timer causes them to be available again.
|
Oh Blizzard, why do you so sorely tempt my instincts to attempt to master a new class with new mechanics? Must I be forced to reroll for every expansion?
More seriously and less melodramatically, that sounds like a lot of fun to try and work with, and I'm not kidding, figuring out systems like that is really something would make me want to play one.
