On our first kill the warriors did about 20% more damage than Thrall himself - that's your two best dps-ers right there (since Thrall did about 15% more than our top player dps - a warlock). They're well worth it, in my opinion.

our first kill today we did it with no SR and didn't use the warriors at all... however the entire raid was dead and thrall finished off the last half a percent or so

Well...

Malevolent Cleave - Spells - World of Warcraft

It's a Saber Lash effect!

A really weak one, but yeah.

They sure love that saber lash effect, huh? It's like that new "beam" art they came up with, and started using everywhere.
This is a really nice tip. Having an OT stand on your MT so the cleave hits for 6k instead of 12k reduces the burst damage massively and can really help - it's especially good for cutting down on overhealing to conserve mana. A druid can do more by dpsing instead, but your warrior OT's not going to make a real difference dpsing from behind while being stunned so often. Paladin OTs can also put on plate healing gear and heal while absorbing the cleaves too - the damage they take will return to them as more mana as well, as long as they don't heal themselves.

To add to the Tauren Warrior camp, we one-shotted him last night for a first kill by engaging when he reached Thrall, then slowly kiting him to the Tauren Warriors.

Its very easy to leisurely kite him to the warriors without losing any real DPS time, and here are some numbers on what they added.

url]http://wowwebstats.com/jcmdpccf3pwda?s=7328-7617&a=72#abilities[/url].

We had 6 of them in play, and they averaged 730 DPS each, doing 552,000 damage (about 130k more than Thrall did).

Considering we had to 24 man him due to one of our rogues getting smacked while up front distracting Kaz by the entrance, I'm very glad we kited to the warriors.

Also, a good tip we received that helped quite a lot on Kaz'rogal trash was to have folks that aggro gargoyles run inside the huts near the Tauren Warriors briefly. This forces the Gargoyle's to come down and land rapidly.

All the healers in my old guild on skywall used a considerable amount of SR gear.

We are getting ready to do Kaz for the first time. One thing I haven't seen mentioned in this thread is the particulars on the mana draining... the Mark itself is of course a binary resist (you either get it or you don't) but can you resist some of the mana draining via shadow resist (making SR that much more useful) once the mark is on you or no? I.E. have it drain 1800 mana instead of 3000. Based on my knowledge of game mechanics and having done Kazzak, I'd say no. But I'm not sure and didn't have epic SR back in the day for Kazzak. Perhaps someone could shine some light on that possibility.

Sry for the necromancy, we're a reroll guild

You can resist Mark of Kaz'rogal but once applied the ticks are not resistable partially.

If you have crafted SR available to you, wear it, have people put their BT necks on, and mana-users should pot on cooldown and run out if they're going to explode. This boss seriously does not deserve having his thread bumped anymore.

I wear full shadow resist gear and resist virtually every mark. Sure, my DPS will suffer, but I'd rather not blow up the raid. And as for Azgalor, only healers wear like 1-2 pieces to resist silence. Otherwise it's a waste.

Although, as a priest, I have a better chance to resist silence on Azgalor, thus I guess that's my justification for not needing it.
