Curse of weakness is a waste, that's for sure. You can counter Recklessness numerous other ways. If you are short on locks, you certainly don't want to have one casting weakness. Especially not on the flames, which are not "hard hitting" in any traditional sense. I'm not sure if you need CoR on them, but you definitely want CoE over CoW.

Even though phyiscal DPS is limited to mostly Hunters on Flames of Azzinoth, CoR is still useful in terms of raising the tank's TPS (and hence, the threat ceiling), which I'm sure your threat capped DPSers will appreciate. While it's true that threat capped DPS can switch to the 2nd Flame if they are riding the tank too closely, it's also true that killing one Flame quicker will reduce the amount of time that two Flames are up simultaneously. It will free up a Healer sooner and reduce the possibility of having the first Flame tank make a mistake and get themselves killed.

We put up CoR on the first flame to be killed. If I'm tanking it chances are it will go down before the first barrage and usually before melee has to leave - as long as the first eyebeam's on the other side, melee can usually bring the thing down to 0. Getting it down as quickly as possible helps immensely on the overall fight, especially with raid healing. After that chances are the melee is effectively out of it, but melee can make a huge difference in the speed of the fight.
Going back a bit, I really recommend going for resilience instead of defense on the flame tanking gear, no matter what spec you are. The PvP gear will help a lot with threat and allow you to take more tanking pieces instead of going all-out on defense and FR gear.

I've read the entire thread and can not for the life of me figure out what we are doing wrong in P2.
We have 2 tanks who (as far as I can tell) are staying within the 'safe' area at all times. Things will be going fine and then one of the flames will charge one of the tanks and we wipe. The most common place for this to happen is on the east side
My understanding is that as long as the tanks are within the safe zone they should not get charged. Is this correct? Can the 'hidden' buff get pushed off? I'm really at my wits end as to what is causing the charges

Are you 100% sure they're in the safe zone? I know several times we've had tanks have charges when they get to the edge of the zone - I've just taken to warning them if I'm at all worried about it.
Remember if you leave it at just the wrong time the buff will vanish and take a second for it to reapply when you get back in. Maybe the server is thinking you're running farther than you are, and taking the buff off.
And, although this doesn't sound like your problem, you're sure that all the DPS in the middle is staying in safe zones? Melee crossing the center safely, etc?

The situation you are describing happens to us occasionally when a tank is dodging an eye beam and they move just a little too far out. Make sure they are also kiting correctly so that they dont have to move too far away from the glaive on their return trip (to avoid double blaze).

All you have to do is have your tanks re-read Pheroz's posts, re-check the strategy guides and move on from there. There is no RNG effect here whatsoever.

Could very well be the eye beam dodging. I wasn't on the same side as the tank who died so I couldn't see very well. The tank does have the JC tortoise trinket so it did cross my mind that it could be that as well.
In this combat log, is it saying that Demarra was the one charged?

I think I've figured out what happened on all 5 of our attempts.
Try 1:
Dorean goes link dead, dies enrage wipe
Try 2:
Aprell dies,
Cor has agro, charge, enrage wipe
Try 3:
Berinthell pulls agro (or steps out of safe area), charge enrage, wipe
Try #4:
Dem pulls agro, (or steps out of safe area), charge, dies no enrage
Leucadia pulls agro (or steps out of safe area), charge, dies, enrage, wipe
Try #5
Aprell dies
Chevy has agro, charge, enrage, wipe
For those trying to look at these logs on WWS, go to a particular fight, go to combat log and use the following filter:
source="flame of azzinoth #1" or source="flame of azzinoth #2"
From our previous night, a tank getting out of the safe area looks like this:

Have any of you noticed a sharp increase in the drop rate on Warglaives? Our raid ID has had 5 drop in the last 6 weeks, and chatter on the server is that other guilds have recently had glaive(s) start dropping as well.
Am I seeing a real pattern or is this another case of Onyxia Deep Breathing more?

No offense intended, but every single time there is a loot streak, someone decides the drop rate has maybe been changed. It hasn't. Nor is Onyxia deep breathing more. People like to see patterns.
Yes, I am about as certain as possible that the drop rate has not changed. In fact, on our server there is no anecdotal evidence of any change. And I posted this once before. Anecdote is the singular of data. The collection of the thousands of Illidan kills are what you need to look at. Not yours. Not your realms. Nothing has changed.
Congrats on your glaives. Moving on.

Agreed - a guild on our server has got an OH glaive every week for the past three, and there's been some rumors of increased drop rates which I think is just pure speculation. We've clocked up around 8 kills now and still none, and to be honest I'm doubting we'll see one before the expansion. Still, it makes waiting Illidan to be lootable after he dies that little more exciting when you start hoping you'll get one this week.

We're just starting Illidan so have very little time on him, and we want to waste as little of it as possible. Could anyone possibly tell me if wipe recovery is possible on Illidan and, if so, what the best way is to go about it?

Wipe recovery is super easy. Die. Release. Zone in. Click on the NPC and say "Take me to the Chamber of Command." It takes people <2 mins to get back to Illidan. It's the same NPC that ports you up to near Shade of Akama, only now he offers two options. If people need to repair, they can port to the repair guy and then click the other guy there and port the rest of the way up.

There isn't really any point in worrying about wipe recovery on illidan, it's a really short corpse run up there. Once you have killed Illidari Council you can port up the their room so you just have to run in, port up to The Illidari Council's room and then have another go. It takes much longer to ress everyone.
