Does anyone have any idea as to whether or not the changes (I am refering to him casting meteor every 15 seconds) made to Al'ar have been reverted, or whether they are intended to be hotfixed at all?

I have heard that he has been hotfixed already, but as far as I'm concerned that is just a rumour as I have no confirmation from any source whatsoever.
