Primal News Transmute [02/10/2007] (Ahh... Welcome to my parlour.)

This one's kind of brief, because really, all my links do a fine job of explaining themselves. Also I'm tired so my commentary will be brief. Maybe I'll fix it up in the morning! (Unlikely)

2.3 Info

This is way too huge to talk about in this news update thread, so I'll just post a link to it. There's lots of interesting changes for both PvP and PvE but I'm not really that fit to talk about them in much detail anymore due to my retirement.

I will mention, though, that Hunters get one sweet PvP weapon. There's also the Hunter purge-shot buff, which is nice. Also, Serpent Sting and Traps scaling with RAP is something that should have been in 2.0. Finally, it took them almost three years to realize, hey, maybe Trueshot Aura should be an actual aura and not cost 600 mana to cast and only last 30 minutes. Just maybe.

Check out the giant Shaman changes. They nerfed Balanced Overload so that it procs more often but does less damage and they similarly nerfed Lightning Mastery after almost 3 years of ridiculousness. They're also really pushing this "Melee and Caster DPS" role which sounds like it'd be really dumb but since you're getting spell damage for free, I guess Enhancement Shamans (a DPS role possibly more boring than spamming Fireball and keeping Scorch up) will be happy for that. Shamanistic Rage becomes 30 seconds of mini-Shield Wall. Mini purgable Shield Wall.

Also, Fear Ward for everybody! And Elune's Grace isn't a joke anymore! ...Still purgable though. Ret Paladins get to run as fast as Rogues now (oh god Ret Paladins are going to chase people down) and they can push Crusader Strike almost twice as fast. They'll still be the laughing stock of the game, though.

Finally, look at Blizzard realizing that healers enjoy healing in Arena. It only took half a year or so to come to that conclusion.

2.2.2 On The Way

Brewfest requires the 2.2.2 patch, and it starts on October 3rd, therefore, 2.2.2 is incoming. Sounds fairly intuitive, doesn't it?

Also, you can get a really nifty hat... if you can wear Plate. If so, congratulations on one of the 2 classes that can wear it!

Illidan Stormrage Goes Bizzerk.

I have no idea what "25 minutes" means in the context of the Illidan fight but it sounds like a long ass time to be pounding away at your Fireball key.

Well, That's One Way To Sell An Account...

I'm not sure if this guy really thought he was being clever or he was just doing it all tongue in cheek. I can't find the original thread that had the most responses on Google Cache so this link will have to do.

Team Fortress 2 is still a Great Game

You still haven't pre-ordered the Orange Box yet?

Last Week Was End of Epic Anime Week

It's okay, Heroes will keep me going.

By the way, the last episode of Claymore and the ones leading up to it? Absolutely terrible, but it's still a good series up to that point. Better than anything Ming could recommend you, anyhow.

Amusing Armoury Link of the Week

Here.

Pertinent Background Information Here.

I think this is fairly self-explanatory. Punching your way to 70 with nothing but your bare fists and feet.

Can someone post a pic of that hat on Tauren, this should be good.

If history is to change, let it change. If the world is to be destroyed, so be it. If my fate is to die, I must simply laugh.

Actually nothing has been cemented in as to whether SR can be dispelled once this change goes in.

I'd start playing again if Arcane Shot's purge was bugged to have the same purge type as Mass Dispel and they left it in there for half a year (the average time it takes for a Hunter bug to go from discovery to fix).

I'm not sure why you posted that, Opioid.

Anyway, back to the patch. I spent about 30mins with the Brewfest quests before I went to work today, and it seems that many of them are still quite bugged and arn't completable (or completable for some and not for others). If you wish to take a look at the Brewfest have this in mind before you get frustrated.

One side effect I've noticed from the new patch: every minute I spend at the Brewfest makes me want to close WoW and go down to my local pub for a pint. I've yet to decide whether this is a bad thing.

Half of US servers and all EU have bugged Brewfest quests. Blizzard messed up with hotfixes, again.

Yeah, I haven't been able to play since Sunday, but for a short while there was a gathering outside Org where you could pick up free food and drink and get a quest called "Honoring a Hero" or something like that. My blood elf couldn't complete it, so I submitted a ticket and the response from them was that it was a known issue that Blood elves couldn't complete the quest. My response, of course, was that Blizzard is racist.

More likely they're just poor at Q&A. Or ran thorough a poor internal Q&A on small patches like these.

Perhaps it's just my many years of GISP admin fun, but I dislike the "Oh, well that must mean you're a racist!" response to anything with barely anything to do with race whatsoever. I just don't find racism "sensational" I suppose, or funny.

Take it easy there Rockstar, you might be overreacting just a tad.

I for one am a bit disappointed that only a Plate Helm will be dropping off the Headless Horseman, I'm sure there are many Rogues who'd like to look like the Gimp from Pulp Fiction with his head on fire.

One thing though, won't the Instance Servers take a hell of a beating when everyone under the sun tries to farm the thing? Each player will only be able to click the Pumpkin once, but there's no reason why said player couldn't do the instance 5 times in an hour. Multiply that by pretty much every lvl 70 on the server not in T5 gear or greater (for the rings), and I foresee some server lag problems.

Blood elves in general have it pretty bad, from the quest in Azshara where the orc dude says right to your face "I GUESS THAT SETTLES IT NEVER TRUST A BLOOD ELF" to the quest in Hinterlands where the forest trolls (your traditional enemies) send you to go murder people in the Queldanil Lodge to send some sort of message to the dwarves.

Its like if the Israelis said "Bah the Holocaust is over, time to take out the trash" and went killing the anti-Zionist Jews in 1950 or so. Come on guys we just suffered a 90% destruction of our race can't you lay off us for a bit =(

Up until about episode 22 or 23 the anime follows the manga prettymuch exactly, and then apparently the last few episodes of the anime deviated from the original claymore story because whoever was making the anime wanted it to have a more exciting end then the manga. Hopefully there is going to be a second season of the claymore anime =) and it will follow the manga more faithfully the whole way through!

Actually it's because the manga isn't finished and won't be for several more years, so they had to make up their own story.

In other news, the new poll feature on the official forums proves that over half of WoW players don't understand what infinity is.
