When I first looked my schedule for college, I saw the majority of them were in one building. There's also a graveyard in front of the college, which is next to the building with all my classes in it. And of course, the first thing that comes to mind is: "Well, the GY is close, I won't have to run far."
When I was heading home with a friend once I told him to hurry because we would miss our bus, and he answered with 'np, i'll just hearths....' about there he realized there is no such thing as a hearthstone outside WoW.
Unless you went to BlizzCon, then you were given your own personal hearthstone!
I discovered one day that one of my friends plays Warcraft during a football game at a party. He kept on chasing me without ever catching me on several plays. As I turn back to gloat that he almost had me before I scored a touchdown, between huffing for breath, I hear a "Fucking Druids" out of him.
I doubt anyone will ever understand why I nearly fell over laughing that day.
I reject your paltry reality and substitute my own.
While grinding for GM and being extremely sleep deprived, I had to drive 6 hours to move home from college. While driving I tried to distract cars that were driving slow, and tried to stealth/ambush a couple rare cars, as I needed the full 80 honor from them.
There are countless times I try and explain strategic points of view to my coworkers, and must stop from using Prince, 4HM, and countless other analogies.
Similarly, also in the workplace, I try to explain 'hands off' leadership and compare it to how guilds are run and which work and don't etc. Of course, I must stop myself again, as no one would know what I'm talking about.
My senior year in high school, I was in JROTC, doing a PT test, or more specifically the running portion. I was on the last lap, completely worn out, and pushing my hardest to pass a person that was about 20 yards in front of me (I had made a bet with him that I could beat him). Right as he is about to cross the finish line, I yell "BLINK, DAMNIT!" without even thinking about that.
I still hear about that one...
Add to that PTT while on the phone, letting game terms slip during conversations, and all the "if only I could iceblock/invis out of this" instances, and I would say I am a pretty lost soul...
Edit: Just happened. Watching the LSU/UF game, a commercial for the Nissan Rogue comes on, and I said "stupid rogues". My dad and brother were sitting next to me, and just gave the the weirdest look.
here is a few of mine that i do A LOT. These are the ones i could think of off the top of my head, many many more that i couldnt think of.
- Of course pushing PTT key when on the phone and playing wow
- I play alliance exclusively and catch myself saying "KEK" or "LOL" too often
- Saw a car accident with my wife in the car and i said 'i wish i could have Fraps'd that!'
- Said 'take a screen cap of this' instead of saying take a picture. /sigh
- Refering to people's crappy cars i see (80's Olds that is barely hanging on) as slow mounts. they should just fork up the gold and buy an epic.
- I watch movies at work or in class all the time and try clicking and dragging to see more of a peripheral view.
- Corrected a paper for my english major class and wrote 'L2spell' after circling a few words. i had to explain why there was a red blob in their paper from me scribbling it out.
- can ANYONE watch a football game where they are talking about players saying things like agility, stamina, strength, defense, spirit, etc. im always like 'they dont need more stam, they need to stack agi!'
Not me but one time my friend told his brother "Grats on the level!" on his birthday without realizing what he said for a few minutes. Now when we have birthdays we say "Ding!"
I find myself in the hearthstone situation allllll the time. I'll be on campus on the parking deck, traffic is all backed up and I check to see if my HS is up...
All my friends call me Beelz, Beel, Biel or Bill by now, because 1 irl friend I played with started calling me like that. A lot of them don't even know my real name :/.
One time I had to play a football game and my father was watching, and once finished he came to me and asked me who that Bill guy was because everyone was yelling his name.
I must admit to having tried to 'rotate the camera' for a better view when watching certain movies on my computer. God I feel so pathetic when I realise it...
Everyone except my parents calls me Misty IRL. I even introduce myself as Misty to new people, it's always felt like the nickname I never had as a kid.
The best one was probably my boyfriend asking if we could have spaghetti one night and I turned around and told him we didn't have the mats in the fridge. He smiled then I realized what I said and facepalmed. (We both play so wow-isms come up a lot.)
