Wow... Didn't know what was possible until I read this thread, although I do have a story of my own to share
Normal Botanica, as a DP/Ruin warlock in mostly blues (2 kara purples and a green or two), I soloed the room with the Illhoof-looking boss (forgot his name), couldn't manage the boss alone. Combination of Enslaves, Banish, and abusing the ever-living heck out of Syphon Life and Health Funnel let me kill even the botanists.
To teach and to learn, to laugh and make others laugh. This is my purpose, and any day in which I don't wasn't worth the time it took to get through.
Just recently myself (A Shadow Priest), a Warlock friend of mine and our pally healer friend went and did Reg SV for the shards and for the Nethers (Go go BoE!!). We did it pretty easily as we cleared bigger areas to get room for our constant fears.
1st boss was easy first time around, Banish + Face-melting made it easy to drop the adds and our warlock just dubbed his PvP gear and tanked the boss down.
2nd boss was same deal, Warlock tanked it and dropped Seeds of Corruption on the adds, I added a few DoTs myself and dropped them easily.
Final Boss was the tough part, soloing the water tanks was a tough job but with my dps plus some of the warlocks DoT's we did it effectively.
Overall it took us about 2 hours to down the whole thing with only about 5g repair bills each. I'm sure if we did it enough we could get it down to about 1.5 hrs and just farm it till the cows come home.

Reason: Spelling + Grammar
2 Manned Onyxia twice in holy paladin + destro warlock combo. Warlock was full t6, destro spec and paladin a2-a3. Had to chain drink super manas all fight, but it is doable and fun.
Also 2 manned Thekal in ZG, but it was with a little bug, so can't be called entirely valid, when you evade him and he turns into tiger form.
If you are well geared then duoing or soloing the normal instance boss, skipping all the trash with stealth, is not a bad way to make money. You'll need druids or rouges for stealth and an enchanter for sharding. Large prismatic shard prices are high, it can be done over and over unlike the daily limit, and it's a change of pace. This might not be true after 2.4 when void splitting brings down the large prismatic shard prices. You can also target the instances that have those profession drops you still don't have.

Maybe you can answer a question on Onyxia. Some guildies and I have attempted four times. four different resets that is, each time within a reset period seems to show the same bug. We were attemping to 4-Man Ony; Prot Warrior, Holy Paladin, Combat Rogue, Mage. We're in T4 gear btw.
The first two times, the tank was completely unable to maintain threat in Phase 1, rogue white damage with continuous feints was pulling aggro. The warrior was against a wall, so it could have been continous 'Knock Away' attacks. Omen was showing the tank pulling -100ish TPS continously. Sooner or later before we could get to Phase 2, someone would pull aggro and die.
The final two tries, Onyxia decided to run around and away from anyone hitting her. She ended up both times sitting in a whelp cave while we ranged her to Phase 2, at which point all the whelps on that side spawned and wiped us.
Are these aberrant problems or is the fight just buggy now? I can't seem to talk my friends into more tries until I can figure out whats going on.

Friend and I 2-manned Thekal a few weeks ago as Resto druid + Feral druid. Took about half an hour, but mostly that was due to extreme sloppiness on heal interrupts - probably would have capped out at around 15 if we'd gotten the interrupts right. Was actually quite fun and interesting; the resto was rather undergeared, and was getting killed during gouges until he switched on some of his feral leather for his healie cloth, but was a good time overall.
We've also gotten quite quick at killing Skyth and Ikiss in heroic Sethekk and all three bosses in heroic Slave Pens - we can knock both instances out in maybe 45 minutes for a quick two nethers, 7 shards, 2-4 voids and 5-7 badges depending on the daily, each and every night.

She dumps aggro, so there there is a limit for your dps people, based on the threat output of your tank. So you either dps really sloly or use complete aggro dumping abilities.
About whelps - you gather and kill them, or aoe, or whatever, should not be a problem.
I only two manned SV on normal except for the last boss. It was me in roughly the equip shown in the armory together with a warrior in roughly full S2 full PvP equip (arms spec). We basically just went for the kill everything before it kills us route (2h ww/ss/cleave + holy light spam). Couldn't convince him to try other instances though :/ With a Healer who can provide at least some constant dps to the tanks, the last boss should be possible. (one holy shock + JoR without any spelldamage (at that point in time) just didn't cut it :P)
What was far more interesting were some low number tries in Karazhan. We managed to kill
- Attumen with four (Feral, Shadow, Mage, Me) that should (now) be doable with just a properly equipped prot pala/warrior + any healer.
- Maiden with four (Feral, Shadow, Tree, Me) also might be doable with a tree+some tank now.
- Moroes with five (Feral, Feral, Shadow, Holy Priest, Me). This was the highlight. Haveing to watch the healthbars of five people with garotte (and that happend with 2 of us being dwarfs and me having two shield to remove it) is like looking at an equalizer visualisation of a drum'n'bass piece. All except for me were equipped in late T4/early T5 equip (while I had arena/karazhan stuff). As for this fight I think it still might be difficult to do it with fewer people. You could perhaps have a highend Priest solo heal it. But there's no solo tanking (gauge, blind) and no way around two priests (if you don't want to tank 4 mobs in the beginning).
- 6 mann big bad wolf ... but that's nothing special I guess ...
I seem to have missed two posts on Karazhan: Apparantly the whole instance was cleared with five people now, And if I look at their setups I'm now quite certain that you can do Moroes with less then five people. From the provided screenshots I gather, that they outgear our group from then by far. (We did it in the middle of July last year Karazhan: almost heroic By Lunaferi)

Sorry, I misspoke. The tank literally could not hold aggro. As a rogue, I'd sit out of combat until Ony was at 90% and then I would pull aggro via only auto-attacking while still feinting every 10 seconds. It didn't seem to be an issue of having to "slow" dps, it was more like "any" dps would pull aggro.
The whelps I'm not worried about, it was Ony running off into the cave and sitting there bouncing back and forth at the very back of the whelp cave during Phase 1 that was broken. I suppose we could just ranged her down then, but I can't talk the mage into trying it again and it takes a really long time for a Prot Warrior and a Rogue to ranged attack Ony down to 65%.
Just wondering if anyone else had seen her bug like that, or if in general if Ony was still working fine.

It's caused by wiping to her, the only way to fix it is a soft reset by zoning out for 30 minutes, haven't seen it happen on a first attempt yet, only when we've wiped to her. Been doing it with an Arms Warrior/Resto Druid and it takes about 30-40 minutes, I find it far easier to do it with 2 people since you have less damage to deal with in P2 from fireballs and it makes grouping whelps up easier.
Can too. There was a thread on this >a very long time ago. In summary, if you're a warrior you can use Berserker Rage, stance dancing, and impeccable timing to avoid every gouge. Paladins can use blessing of sacrifice on #2. Alliance have a quest trinket they can save that lets a dot tick on them to break gouge.

Yeah,
I've solo tanked Moroes before without a problem as a prot warrior, it's really not as bad as it might seem with some clever berzerker rages, the 2 min cooldown pvp trinket, and dps that can handle a couple hits from him (or dps that stay fairly far away to increase his travel time to them.)
Ok, was Socrethar buffed? I'm at 69 on my lock now and I see no way he can solo this as a Scryer, at least, not in the gear that people talk about (leveling, low 70, etc). Melee, Cleave and Shadowbolt Volley, all of which are hitting for 1.3-2K on me, and the orb only hits him for 1K. Soul Link can't mitigate that damage for long, for obvious reasons. My Drain Life heals me for almost 900/tick with a DS'd Felguard and that can keep up for a while, but the fight is so long he'll get a hit string that knocks me down to holding even at 50%, and then another one that kills me.
Has anyone done this recently? Or is the "word" about this guy out-of-date or exaggerating the lack of gear used?

I don't think you can solo it as a scryer, unless you have pretty good gear(like pvp stuff for higher hp). You can duo it easily though if you find an aldor player doing it. In fact as aldor you can solo it easily too if you play smart. So well I'd say try to find someone to help you do it.
Use that and it will add up your avoidance for you, including the base miss chance.
The 102.4% that it tells you you need is for level+3 mobs or boss mobs.

I've had her freak and run around, then go sit in a whelp cave and pout. First attempt, no wipes.
This was with my arms warrior, a druid and a paladin were with me. It was a while ago, figures they havent fixed her yet. At least it doesnt happen ALL the time. Seems to be a tossup whether she freaks during p1 or not.

Same thing happened here; rather than a traditional 'evade' bug, its almost as though Onyxia decides she wants to run away from any player near her. Rather amusing when you're 4 manning her with a rogue, paladin tank, mage and priest.
I didn't give up when she ran into the whelp cave, though: we successfully tanked and burnt down all the adds at one point, and since she just seemed to want to avoid players, if we all stood at one end of the cave she would run out the other side. Same if we stood on the bridge; she'd run anywhere a player wasn't present, so we could keep her concentrated on the opposite side of the cave by having people strafing back and forward. Not unlike dogs herding sheep.
The mage and I managed to get her to 70% or so (a good 10 minutes with her sulking in the cave) before the paladin got bored and aggroed all the whelps again, killing us. Hysterical bug; the memory of strafing next to Ony and beating on her while she did everything she could to get away from me remains priceless.
Just 2-manned regular Steamvault with myself + resto druid. Last boss was a bit of a trick until we started getting the hang of it - with 100 energy and sometimes an OOC proc saved, though, it was just barely possible to burn through the tanks, and after we managed that, it was slow and steady to the finish. I think we finished him after ~6 tanks.

I remember tanking a pug 5man that took about that long on the last boss, it was shockingly bad
back at 60 I solo'd scholo except gandling. then my GF on her 45 priest zoned in and we 2-manned him (it was close solo, the heals pushed it in my favour).
As a mage my solo abilities are limited on bosses that can't be snared or rooted. I did a lot of solo trash farming in shadow labs for aldor rep and cash, though (clearing out the first room, reseting, repeat)

Yeah, as a frost mage, soloing trash is very doable. The 4mob-pulls with two casters can get rather hairy, but the 2-3 pulls are almost trivial. I used to do SV right before SSC raids while waiting for everyone to get there, lots of armaments which sell pretty well. The hardest part was avoiding the water elemental pat, but with the right timing and a little LOS dancing on the casters, I could always keep going until the raid was ready.
Most of the trash on heroic slave pens is also soloable. Especially the crab people.

I thought they fixed the terrain pathing issues in heroic SP? Do you just have to be a bit more creative now?
