In which case I'd probably suggest making a night elf, going to darkshore, taking the boat to theramore, then either swimming north to ratchet->booty bay, or swimming south to steamwheedle port->gadgetzan.

My bad, and indeed. the night elf > darkshore >wetlands > theramore > ratchet > booty bay method is the safest.
allthough humans can swim north of westfall, all the way around to booty bay. It depends on what you prefer I think.
In all of this you have to have a FP from your AH to the neutral AH, or create another char to monitor it. Currentlly I do it with a 20 mage on alliance who ran to BB. Not much of a problem, you die but you can make it. From there port and hearth are your friends, stay in SW all the time and only go to BB to transfer things. If I have any high tiket items Ill /2trade them in both factions, see if I can get them moveing.
I make a Troll/Orc, swim to ratchet and take the boat to booty bay.
Walking to the "sea" in durator is a bit risky, but its the fastest way
You can actually get directly to Ratchet through the backdoor in Valley of Trials (the path where newbie shamans are directed for their earth totem quest), it's a much shorter and safer swim.

Oh, that is nice to know I never had a horde above level 30 (and that was a undead) so I did not know that.
I could have sworn I saw someone in this thread mention a macro setup (or a mod) for prospecting which would automatically prospect a specific type of ore with only one button click (you wouldnt have to click prospect then click the ore). But I can't seem to find anything with the search function.
Is this even possible? And is there a way to auto-loot what you've prospected without having to click every item individually?
If your into farming primals I might suggest getting yourself a Zapomatic Mote Extractor with engineering, not only can you kill the elementals but you can suck about 3-5 motes out of the clouds you see floating around certain zones. I generally spend about 3-4 hours a day flying around Nagrand sucking these clouds dry and end the day with about 15-20 Primal Air's . The 350 engineering helm makes this so much easier as it shows you the location of the clouds on the minimap.
Which meta gem cut would be best in terms of money making? Im thinking about starting to snap up meta gem pattern to finish leveling to 375, but im not sure where to start as far as the bet mony makers go and suggestions?

My personal favorite:
Fishing Deviates and selling the Delights. Any class can do it, any level can do it, any spec. Stacks sell for a solid 10g.
I have never been an exceptional farmer, minus the few times I got lucky at finding a Tiny Crimson Whelping in the Wetlands, so Deviate fishes were the main source of my income. I could spend hours inside the Wailing Caverns catching those things and laughing as the lower levels tried to run past all of the mobs to get inside the instance.
Blues Brothers style, I was on a mission from god to get my first epic bird. Sick of my guildies making fun of me for being the only officer not flying one.
6:30am, Wednesday morning. Roll out of bed, make breakfast. Turn on XM comedy so I can zone out, and on a recommendation from the richest person I know in-game, proceed to rampage my way through the warlocks at Legion Hold for the next 6-7 hours. AFK 20 minutes to get Korean food. Come back, burn mouth on extra-hot kim chi. 5 more hours of mayhem, fury warrior style. SSC ruins my groove, but guild-first kills of Leo and Hydross in the same night are cool. I get [Pauldrons of the Wardancer]. Woot.
Even without the blue and purple drops, in one day I netted about 13-1400g just in aldor rep items in one day. I was always one of those people who said I didn't have the time to really powerfarm for money, and I think the AH game is just slightly more exciting than watching C-span. Two days off mid-week were a real eye-opener on how easy it is to make money, if you can just stick to it. I'll never sympathize with people who whine about being broke again.

I was basically in the same position as you and found the same solution. Though I didn't farm for whole days, in three weeks I went from 80g to [Cenarion War Hippogryph] and have kept grinding that in my free time to catch up on other stuff like upgrading bags and working on enchanting, etc.
One thing I've found helpful is to make bags out of the netherweave and sell them for about 7g each, pays a little better than my earlier method of vendoring bandages. Does anyone know if there is an even better way to handle the cloth, maybe crafting and de'ing?

Any suggestions as to where a shadow priest or mage can farm such gold effectively?
I think the general consensus is that professions make more money than classes (which thematically makes sense). If you really want to make money killing stuff, as a priest it seems like single target DPS is your only option. But the best place to grind will be different if you are a miner or an herbalist, for example. Focus on you professions, not your class.
For mages Merple, I always remember I HATED you guys when I was grinding to exalted with the Scryer on my hunter. I would go up and down the ramp, taking ~10 minutes to do so because my gear was crappy, and suddenly here comes mage wearing epixx that just takes the mobs 4 at a time and clears the entire ramp in a couple of minutes. I'd just sit and seethe, wishing I had that kind of AoE power. That of course, depends on what the market is for Scryer rep items on your server, and how well geared your mage is. If you have some sort of gathering profession (I include engineering in this because of the clouds), then I'd ignore what I just said and use your profession to make yourself some cash.
Any efficient DPSer can make a lot of reliable cash by farming something. Mages and Shadow Priests are both powerful killers. Most of my money was made by killing things. I play the AH during my city time and use tailoring/enchanting to turn cloth into enchanting mats to maximize my profit. But in the end, hours of killing things pays off. I get tons of trash to sell, I have made over 3k gold from selling trash (I have a plugin that tracks this). I get my chosen crop (primal mana, scryer rep items, primal water, primal fire, stat food) and random drops.
Kill, Kill and Kill and you will always be rolling in gold. I use the AH and tailoring/enchanting to enhance my gains but killing provides the bulk of my income.
Is there any good stuff to farm as a prot paladin besides the Blood Elf plateau outside of BT?
This is really insulting (and lazy!) to the people who use this thread to contribute and draw suggestions from. There are literally PAGES about prot-pally farming within this 42 page thread. Yes, it's 42 pages, but they are all quality.
The earliest posts on prot pally farming (within the first 15 pages I believe) contain info on farming Strath/Scholomance/BT plateau. There are a few posts within the middle pages that talk about zaxxis raiders/bloodelves in netherstorm.
Though I can hide my cold gaze, and you can shake my hand and feel flesh gripping yours, and maybe you can even sense our lifestyles are probably comparable; I simply am not there.

Name of addon please?
I have made this past week over 2k in cross faction selling, basically horde side (my main) have no demand for stat food, Alliance side though have many smallish guilds seriouslly attempting ZA and they are aprentlly lazy with food =)
Just as a follow up to my previous post, the shadow priest at ~ilvl 110 is mine. The mage, at ~ilvl 125 is my friend's. We had a discussion just last night regarding me cursing him about his 2-shotting mobs.
This is all new to me by the way, I've been holy spec since release, so the ability to actually _kill_ things efficiently is new and exciting for me.
That said, I spent ~40 minutes last night in Legion Hold and I'll agree the place is definitely solid. I'll try the scryer rep pieces later, as I can make better use of those, but I hit stride (and a perfect mana cost/regen ratio) up in Legion Hold, so I may just stay there. I've found there's exactly one place I can stand where I can reach all of the warlocks, but I don't aggro the elite or any of the demons.
If only I could grind Lower City or Steamvaults rep this way (although I probably could duo it with mage-friend), but nowhere near as fast.
