I used the +dmg version for a while I the biggest issue with it is that for the proc effect to occur, mobs have to start dying (usually more then 1), when that happends, you barely need the proc anyway normally.
Though I admit the +crit is alot more usefull for other classes then prot pala grinding.
Supplicants aren't very efficient if you're chain pulling*, it works better to kill them all at once and then wait a few minutes for respawns. If your gear is good enough (max block rating, decent stam) it won't matter if you're holy or prot, as long as you have the Figurine.
Also at a certain point of gear/practice, it doesn't really matter if you aggro the elite. They fixed the little nook I used to use to leash him, but when I'm bored I just solo him until the respawns. Careful to spend your mana quickly if you pull him though.
Maybe I'm just easily bored, but I did the supplicant grind for a little over a week when it was time to buy my epic flight training and haven't done it much since. Plus I'm the only miner on Dalvengyr with a 310% (plus Crusader) and I'm too lazy to mine anything...
I find myself making tons of money lately by farming in legion hold as a 0/21/40 specced Warlock with t4/5 level gear. Once you have enough shadow dmg you can kill the Shadow Council warlocks in 3 hits everytime (2 if you crit) Even when it takes 3 sb's they will usually die before hitting you and they have a great droprate of blues/greens/fel armaments/marks/netherweave. In 1 hour I have an average of 30g from silver 15g from greys 30g netherweave 6x fel arma (90g on my server) 80 marks (80g) and the occasional greens and blues like darkmoon faire cards, lvl 65-68 boe blues and sometimes a jc pattern that sells for a few hundred gold. Anyway neglecting all the blues and green ive had there it is already 240+ gold an hour but I think I average around 300g an hour counting all the blues and greens
I made my share of gold with the Shadowmoon Grunts at Teron, thank you Peons! Made about 65k total worth of Hearts split over 3 people in ~6 weeks. Not too shabby.
With the new spell damage changes in 2.3 this should be even easier to do. I actually need consortium rep for jewelcrafting.
I would imagine, as a previous poster said, that a full prot spec would be quite efficient at the aoe grind on these mobs. I think for one hour's grinding in the heap, you can collect between 80-100 Zaxxis Insignia, 4-5 greens and 1-3 prison keys. You'll definatly find it quite useful.
As a side note, the market is quite strong for primal shadow. I notice there's a spot in Hellfire Pennisula that wasn't being farmed at all despite the fact that the void fields south of Honour Hold were. I think it's 75,75, pretty much as east as you can get on the bottom of the zone. It was a pretty nice spot for a while for a holy paladin. Again, round them up, Holy Wrath + Consecrate. 2-3 primals an hour there but the respawn rate wasn't great. Still an option though.

Reason: spelling
Never ran into trouble other than during the pull really, though I only grabbed half the platform.
Main thing I'm worrying about is that level 70 elite patrolling. How are you grabbing the lot without taking a goodly dose of damage in between (You can't swipe at mobs behind you...) as well as avoiding that elite ?
The elite is often far away from the big groups, that is the time to pull. I pull with flying mount so if the elite is added, I take off and reset them. Not like the elite could hit me, I'm immune to him aswell, but it takes ~5 min to kill him, not worth the time at all. Also corpses may start to despawn during this time, so I better combatloot if that happens
I'm usually down by 50% during the pull (berserker stance doesn't help much, but it's required to not gimp my poison dots by 10%), a lot less since I have the epic flyer.
Sure, but that one doesn't heal you, which was the point of the Darkmoon Card and the Zangarmarsh trinket
Combined with LotP and a Darkmoon Heroism card you should break even from the swiping.
Might just want to use the Spyglass instead though.

I'm not immune, so he would be a nuisance together with a bunch of Supplicants.
Probably not a big deal to have to fight him, but quite frankly, I can't be bothered since he's got crap loot and would take too long.
My main rogue has mining, and if the locks in Legion Hold are being farmed already, I go the Deathforge in the middle of SMV. 5 or 6 ore nodes, and tons of mobs that drop Aldor rep items and the usual assorted stuff.
My alt frost mage is a transmutation master, so I usually farm primals in SMV for Primal Might transmutes, or just transmute Earth -> Water if I'm not in the mood for farming (got plenty of Primal Earth from my miner).
I took a level 40 alt high enough in enchanting to DE level 70 stuff, so all BOE drops that vendor for less than 4g (or would sell better in AH) go to him to DE. Shards, Arcane Dust and Greater Planar Essences always sell well.
I logged on after downloading the patch and started farming the new skyfire diamond. Got it within an hour and have already sold 3 getting about 150g more then the cost of the mats. God I love patches.
Selling warp burgers in stacks of 3 for the cooking quests at 15g a go. (Who buys them at 15g for 3? Dunno, maybe people who don't know to go farm around Cosmowrench for warp stalkers.)
Mining, Skinning, and Fishing are my money makers.
So far as Mining is concerned, I stay the hell away from Nagrand and Terrokar. Head to BEM or SMV if you want some non-competitive. Also, go grab Gatherer and install the WoWHead database that they have on their site. It will give you all the nodes that people have found in the past. Works well.
Skinning -- Cobra scales and wind scales sell like crack on my server. 25g per cobra scale and 5g per wind scale. Well worth the time and effort.
Fishing -- Crawdads and Fishticks sell like crazy too.
My standard (and maybe boring?) way of making money: Killing and skinning clefthoofs for thick clefthoof leather. Depending on your server this makes a nice income for a casual like me. (On my server a stack of 20 sells for anything from 60-120g and grinding 1-3 stacks pr hour isn't that hard).

I only do that while waiting for a TK raid to start, southwest terrokar is much more efficient, especially because the warp stalkers there are much lower level.
It appears that the current versions (since 2.3 patch) of Auctioneer are pretty buggy, but they're churning out betas regularly to fix stuff. Just fyi for those of you who were looking to try it. I tried several downloads before setting that aside. I'm eager to see the new features.

You can farm southwest terrokar while waiting for arena, but it might be more efficient doing mining in the meantime anyhow.
I usually sell Silver Spellthread on 2-3 different character and over price them on one alt, obviously the cheaper ones sell, but it's still my money. I finally got my epic flier because I buckled down and saved all my daily quest money and sent all the money to my alt (so I wouldn't spend it)
Not exactly street legal: But I've also sold around 60 large pizzas on my server for herbs/gold since October 2006 (and still do...on paydays).
:Edit: Light Feathers sell now on my server for 20g a stack, go go new LWing Pattern for Hunter's Quivers.
One thing I found out since I'm leveling tailoring and making mooncloth is that netherweb spidersilk is crazy expensive. It's between 12 and 20g each, and if you go south of alliance town in terrokar, there's tons of spiders there. I usually clear it before it starts respawning, but that's around 8-10silks every 30mins. I'm not sure how many I'll be able to sell tho, I guess the market on those might saturate quite fast, but then again you need 2 for 18slots, so maybe not. It's my new little goldmine. ^^
Yeah Netherweb Silks have always been pretty robust sellers, from 5g-20g+ depending on server. They're 5g each on my server at the moment, but it's still a great way to farm while waiting for BG queues, since you can just fly up over the Shattrah walls and start killing. Even with 1-2 min BG queues I can kill 5-10 spiders easily, especially if I wait for the last minute to accept the queue (which beats sitting in the BG prep zone for 50 seconds bored to death :P). I can quite easily farm maybe half a dozen silk per hour while doing AV, which is an extra 30g an hour, plus all the grey vendor trash - more than enough to cover PvP repairs with a little extra left over.
I wouldn't target them for a hard farming session unless they were consistantly selling for 10g+ though, or unless farming primals was impossible everywhere else at the time. Mostly its just the proximity to Shattrah.
The best place for farming netherweb spider silk is probably inside Caverns of Time: Black Morass. The drop rate, in the experience of everyone I've talked to, is much higher than normal mobs, plus there you get the benefits of soloable nonelites in a competition-free instance.
Mining/herbalism as money makers have been discussed at length, but one tip that I haven't seen posted yet:
Once you've killed Illidan, instead of hearthing to Shattrah, use your BT neck to hearth to BT instead. As you fly to Shattrah (takes just a few minutes) you can't help but come across a few ore/herb nodes.

I haven't tested myself, but reading comments on wowhead, it seems they nerfed it along the way, so now they don't drop more than any other spider, but are much harder to kill(not true elites, but still harder than equal lvl mobs, and high lvl than terrokar too)

The drop rate is definitely lower now than it was a few months ago. I'm not sure if it's the same as normal spiders but with the extra time to kill, the travel time, and the chance of getting somewhat nasty adds Terrokar is far, far better. If you're sitting in Tanaris anyway waiting for Mt. Hyjal or something, it's still a great way to kill time though.
