A couple of the higher rep level quests give ~ 18 gold or so reward, but they take so long and are out of the way of anything else that its too inefficient IMO.

It's only Picking up the Pieces that gives 18g.
The key to the netherwing quests are getting up early. You can do all 7-8 or whatever your professions allow in under an hour or so if you get up at 6am. I do them because I hate skettis.

Netherwing is efficient if no one is there. Also some of the Netherwing quests can be afk'd if you are of the appropriate class.
The Scryer/Aldor one is easily afkable for 5 minutes if you are a healer/tank. The quest will complete after 5 minutes has passed as long as the guy stays alive. Super easy for a healer. I normally start the quest, go afk and get things done when I log on.
Then fly over and do booterang/herbalism at the sametime. Go into the mines, do the crates/ravagers/mining (cant turn it in, but I mail the ore to an alt that can).
Later on, I usually do the Scryer/Aldor one on my alt while waiting for raid to start. I turn in the ore and call it a day.

There are many good ideas in this thread, many I use myself. A couple pages back there was comment on Primal Nethers, and the best return for them. I've found that by far the best return was by crafting [Thick Netherscale Breastplate]. The mats, even if straight purchased off the AH cost no more than 400g. Crafted, I've been selling these for at least 900g. Best Nether return I've been able to work.
Having said that, I see the market no longer working once the nethers become tradeable come patch day. I've received a lot of /w from people asking if my main can craft them, and offering to buy my nether for 50-100g, their mats. I expect it'll be like most crafted items after, where you get a 5g tip for your time.

As far as Khorium and Eternium, just to make sure, there is not reason to hold them in ore form, correct? I know you can't prospect them, and I can't find anything on wowhead that explicitly needs the ore, and not the bars.
Fake Edit:Looks like Enchant Chest - Defense - Spells - World of Warcraft requires the ore, so it may be worthwhile to hold on to eternium at least.

Something Ive noticed lately that sells for a decent amount is actually the 2nd highest level of enchanting mats. Illusion Dust and GEE's sell for double what Arcane Dust and GPE's go for. The shards dont go for as much, but when I get shards I just stockpile them anyway in case I need them for something. Once I get more than a stack, Ill start selling em. Sadly a GEE is more than a LBS, so its kind of a letdown to see one.
The way Ive been farming them is DM North. I actually do it for Steamwheedle rep, and get the enchanting mats as a bonus. The way I do it is to clear the whole pit with the first Guard. The dogs drop a good deal of Rugged Leather. If Mol'dar dropped a [Gordok Shackle Key], I skip Fengus and Slip'kik until Ive freed Knot. I kill any ogres or anything else in the way, turn in the Ogre Suit quest as many times as I can, free Knot and get his chest+tannin basket above him. Rinse and repeat. I usually take enough thread or Bolts for a specific amount of suit turn-ins, and run til that happens or I get bored. If I was just running it to farm, I would get a lot more money as most of my leather and cloth goes to rep turn-ins, but even still I can probably make a good 3-4 things to d/e per run. Any extra leather and cloth I make into [Runic Leather Belt], or if I can find cheap mats [Heavy Scorpid Belt], [Frostsaber Leggings], or [Chimeric Leggings]. The scales/leather are often on the AH for dirt cheap, and the recipies require less Rugged. All in all Id estimate maybe 20-30g per run. Each Ogre Suit turn in is basically one [Runic Leather Belt], so I could get a lot more out of it Im sure, but I do it mainly for the rep. However, it did bring me around to my original point that the level 60 mats are rising in price, at least on my server. The demand isnt as high as it used to be, but they are still used for some enchants people regularly get, as well as anyone who is leveling up enchanting. And the supply sure aint what it used to be.
It may not be much, but I just wanted to try and give something back to this thread. Its made me quite a bit of money (pulled in like 3k due to S3 speculation/anticipation) but I really dont have any huge insights for technique or farming spots.
Also, if anyone reading this would like to share any info with me about Gold-Selling in a PM, Id be grateful. Im sure its not the kind of thing that belongs in the thread, and if the mods dont even want this I understand and will remove it. I was just wondering what kind of numbers would be involved, just as far as maybe a side thing to try and make some extra cash.
Thanks, and good farming all.

As far as $/hour, gold selling rates pretty poor. Checking offhand, I see 3 sites on google that list 5$/1000g ... as far as I know, in order for that to = to more than a minimum wage job in the US, you'd need to farm up ~1500g an hour.
A small tip; for those who want to farm the trees with no downtime, a shadow priest friend of mine and myself (on my druid in blues/kara gear) started farming them while BSing over TS we're pretty much able to chase out the competition if there is any.
Does anyone know if there's anything like the trees for mining? I tried soloing one of the Crazed Collosuses in SMV to see what all they "skinned for" ... I got 40s and some [Crystalline Fragments] for my effort.
Thanks to this thread (mostly the warlocks at legion hold), I've managed to save up enough money for my epic flier as well as help a couple of my guildies get theirs.

Unfortunately there doesn't exist anything good like the trees for mining, and its kind of annoying. The best I have gotten from mining a mob is a crappy green gem.

There is, but you must be a rogue. (Although, maybe a druid can do it). This is why farming regular Mana Tombs is profitable. Hehe. You can YouTube some of the videos out there and you do need decent gear ~ T5 or so I'd say, although it might be possible for T4 rogues to do it.
It's super profitable if you are both a herbalist and a miner too, the mobs are very easy to solo.

I solo farmed Mana Tombs chests in Pre-T4 gear actually. It takes a bit longer, as you sometimes have to wait for the CD to solo the last standing mob. I used to skip one of the mobs though.
With my T4 set now, I can solo the caster mobs without any CD usage.
At that I also had mining so it was even better.
Solo farming MT along with enchanting helped me get my Epic Flyer.

Anyone try farming ace of portals? Drop rate is pretty low but I am positive it could be sold without much trouble. Not to mention all the blues you'd get along the way...

It works fine on normal, but I assume on heroic it would be too hard - not only because mobs hit harder, but their agro range increases, so you could get unwanted adds when fighting over chests - and in some places, chests are already very close to patrols - same with Nodes.
Chest quality increase would be pretty minimal, so even assuming you'd be able to solo heroic packs, it wouldn't be worth it.

You farm them on Normal not Heroic.
There are always two Chest Spawns in addition to 2-3 Adamantite Ore Spawns.
Edit: With my current gear I chew through the mobs quite easily. I can take up the meele mobs without using any CDs which is quite good as it reduces your downtime. The toughest mobs are still the meele followed by the darkcasters as their Shadow Word: Pain ticks for 990 dmg per sec and if they get two off in the same fight, your CLoS will be on cooldown.

Hi there, I've read and used many of these tips. I did however want to bring something to attention that I really am unsure about. I just noticed that Arcane Dust has a deposit and I am almost certain it did not before. It doesn't seem any other enchanting mat has them, but arcane dust most definitely cost me money to cancel the auction where greater planar essences did not. Just a heads up!

Perhaps that was caused by somebody already bidding on the item. You have to forsake the Auction House Cut of the current bid if you cancel in such a case.

"You are better than I am," Inigo admitted.
"So it seems. But if that is true, then why are you smiling?"
"Because," Inigo answered, "I know something you don't know."
"And what is that?" asked the man in black.
"I'm not left-handed."

Its been said a couple times in this thread, but its worth reiterating: Don't underestimate the value of novelty items. Pets, Orb of Deceptions etc. Went and 2-manned the fish boss in zg yesterday (resto druid and feral druid) and the turtle book dropped... 1500g for 20 minutes of effort.

I don't think any site that actually delivers charges that little. Going rate is around $40/1k gold these days.

T6 rogue could probably solo the casters and such, but that cuts into the profitability of mining the second boss for his essences and such. Like I said earlier, what makes Mana Tombs profitable over Sethekk Halls or Auchenai Crypts (both of which could be farmed by rogues, iirc Auchenai even in heroic mode) is the fact you can mine the second boss.

Quoting from memory, a friend of mine sold gold to IGN at the price of 28$/1000g.
However, if you know someone that wants to buy directly (ie, guildmate that has a full-time job/family and hates farming), I would assume they would pay you an amount more in line with what they would pay at an actual gold farming service.
200g/hour * $28/1000g = $5.60 an hour.
200g/hour * $40/1000g = $8.00 an hour.
Which is pretty close to minimum wage, depending on where you live.
I predict the rampant inflation in the US economy and the weakening of the dollar will have an impact on the price of gold, if we want to look at that side of the equation. Becomes more expensive to purchase from china =p.

Are you sure its possible to solo the 2nd boss in MT as a rogue?
If so, what kind of gear should make it doable?

Mana Tombs farming is profitable and easy, I see no reason to try and kill a boss with 90k health. You would probably have to try it with T6 gear, his main ability is one that drains life at 10% of your total life every 1-2 seconds.

I know farming MT is profitable and requires no effort really. My question was if rogues can solo the 2nd boss in MT as ive never tried it. And if you can, what kind of gear do you think i would need?
