Upgraded Talgog's law school-induced bad weapon from Thunder to Stormherald within two hours of patch launch. Nethers averaged around 50g (some 40, some 50, some 60) and the Vortexes were AH'd for 300 each. The Nether Vortex rush is/was certainly being driven by warriors and paladins who want 5 each, and people who want 5 each for their alt warriors and paladins.
I would expect that demand to remain quite high, especially with Season 3 rating requirements remaining in place in Season 4. It's best in slot for PvP short of those, is close enough for government work compared to them, and already has a large amount of cash sunk into it by the point you are looking for Vortexes, which makes people loath to abandon them at the Deep Thunder stage.

Primal Nethers and vortex's are nuts on my server... 750-800g / Vortex and 150-200g / Nether. The kicker is that they are selling...
I'm guessing the prices will come down after the initial 'must have' frenzy is complete.

I snagged a vortex last evening for 75g, which makes me pretty happy. I'm loathe to spend badges from my main for my alt, and I'm a cheapskate in wow just as much as real life, regardless of how much gold I have. One pecular thing I noticed was that the prices of the epic leg kits were actually up instead of down, like I thought they would be. I had trouble previously selling a nethercleft kit for over 220 gold, and mine sold for 275 yesterday in a short period of time. Of course, now that I think about it, I forgot to check to see if the price of the mats for it went up, but they would to have had increased alot.

To echo this, I have no Alch alt, but I do have an Ench alt. The price of Arcane Dust and Planar Essences jumped (example, Arcane Dust was 80s per and is now 2g per), so making rings for disenchanting really became profitable for me. I've already made several hundred gold just from disenchanting my own rings.
But, the left over little gems, I didn't know what to do with those, given the CD on Brilliant Glass, so I just sold them on the AH. The price pre-patch was 37s per gem and is now 1g50s - 2g per gem. Again, made several hundred gold just dumping odds and ends.
The only thing slowing me down from a run-away fortune is the price of Adamantite Ore. It jumped to 30g per stack. That, and the apparent reduction in drops of blue gems from prospecting, has made me a little cuatious of prospecting for gems right now. Still, if the price of green gems stays as it is, I might be able to compensate.

As soon as Kazzak.eu was up, I started buying up Primal Nethers. Now, I have upwards of 100 or so, all gotten at an average price of around 25g (it peaked at around 15 server time, where I got some at 15g each). I'm absolutely 100% convinced that prices will go up in time. People will be needing massive amounts of them for Sunwell crafts/leg enchants/etc when phase 3 (?) is complete and the badge vendor is released, as well as when s4 is out in a few weeks. On the supply side, people are going to stop doing the old instances for a while, and I didn't get a nether from Kael'thas on heroic, so no supply there either. Badges are too valuable and needed for gems/items, so all in all, I think it's safe to assume the price is going to rise. Even if they don't, I've only invested for about 3000g.
[e]: The price of Nether Vortex is hovering around 100-150g a piece.

I could be wrong, but I am suprised you could buy [Nether Vortex] for 25g or 15g. Are you sure you did not mean [Primal Nether] which were only going for at the lowest on Bonechewer at 45g with 50g being common.

25g for Vortex? Or did you mean primal nether? Still 25g is RIDICULOUSLY cheap even for the primal nether.

Yeah he meant primal nether. Since vortexes are only used for t5 craftable items, and enchants need nethers.

He does bring up an interesting point though. I haven't gotten to try MT on heroic yet, but apparently he doesn't drop a nether? That is somewhat strange.

If Throne of Kil'jaeden is as much a little Vietnam on your server as it is on mine, grind your way through the incandescent flame dudes. Same droprate as the elemental plateau guys, but because of the warzone nature they pop as quick as you can kill'em. I'm rounding up 10 pri-fi an hour, don't know how long it can last though until people lose interest

I don't know if they will lose interest for a while, because that quest gives them money, rep, a free green, and possibly a BoJ. I will have to go try this out over the weekend though, hopefully it will be even more populated then.

I would imagine that a lot of the ... less than hardcore folk, not to mention anyone with alts, are taking advantage of the season 0.5 gear from the rep vendors. That's available immediately, no unlocking. Might that explain some of this?
(My own account reactivates this week, and I'm going to have an alt gear-up party of my own. That's what made me think of it.)

For people wanting to offload large amounts of green gems given the xmute CD, I've been cutting mine and putting them up on the AH where they've been selling like hot cakes. I don't know if it's specific to our server but they've all jumped from between 75s-1.5g (depending on the cut) to 2-3.5g. Not much, but I've been selling a stack of each colour about every three-four hours, spread across the different cuts I have. I suspect it's the cheap people picking up the PvP gear and not wanting to pay more for gems than the complete set cost them.

Logged in this afternoon and dumped a banked nether vortex on the AH (was the only one that listed at that time) sold for 2k. Later when I came back from work I put another one up straight away for 1.4k BO and it sold again. After that the market price crashed down to 400-500g. I can see them become a decent way of making money once you are full of badges from raiding together with epic gems.

The price of green gems increased big time on my server.
Peridots etc. selling for 1,5g each, the more "useful" gems like golden draenite selling for 2g upwards. Uncut, that is. Wish I´d have more saved up... Guess back to some good old farming action today to take advantage of fel iron.

On our server, I believe nethers are cheap because they are coming out of banks right now. Once that supply is exhausted, I'm all-but certain they will badge-price normalize at gem/vortex/nether equivalent, whatever that is, with a slight discount for primal nethers since they drop in heroics.. Although, heroic Magisters Terrace is apparently bugged at the moment.

The respawn rate of the mining nodes on the isle is, how should i say this, b-a-n-a-n-a-s.
You can literally make laps around the island and _never stop mining_ if you're the only miner there.
100 ore while waiting on my hearthstone today.

Something that was making me a decent amount of cash was Arcanite. I had 2 alts in their 40's that I never played, and a long time ago I had leveled them up as Alchemists just to get to Arcanite xmute, and I just got in a routine every day of logging them on to xmute and AH. With one Id log on, start the xmute and check the AH. Id buy Arcane Crystals if they were under 2.5g, Thorium Bars if I was low (always 1g/bar), and put up some Arcanite Bars if the price was good. The big money-maker however was Arcanite Rods. Every enchanter is going to need one at some point, and a lot of them seemed too lazy to buy mats to make it themselves and save ~20-30g.
Arcanite Rod = 3x Bars + 1 Dense Grinding Stone = 3x Thorium Bar + 3x Arcane Crystal + 4x Dense Stone = 3g + 7.5g + 10s + 3 cooldowns. Approx cost to make 1 Rod was about 10-11g. Approx sale price was 65-90g. It worked out to be about 20-25g per daily cooldown on my alts that I never used otherwise. For the time investment (5 min a day) its about the best money I could find to make.
But now, the patch screwed that all up. Arcane Crystals are at least 8g now, Thorium and Dense Stone have also gone up (though Im not sure its entirely related), and the Arcanite market is completely flooded (Bars and Rods) causing prices to tank. Still, it was good while it lasted (1 Xmute per day for ~6months, and then 2 per day for another ~8 months = a buttload)
I just really wish I had stocked up on more Void Crystals, Khorium, and green gems. Already prices have gone up on all of them, and as demand goes up, price should follow suit.

Respawns are ~3 minutes?(anyone else confirm?) on the ore on the island and they spawn in a circular pattern all around the isle. It's pretty easy to pickup your dailies, follow the west coast mining/killing/converting and then just fly up the east side and net yourself several stacks of ore in the process. Then you can start it again after you turn in and everything will be respawned. There aren't a ton of nodes compared to Nagrand, but for the size of the zone and the speed at which they pop it's pretty fantastic.

Bonechewer is a pvp server, so I was witnessing 4+ person fights over one node.
If it works on your particular server, milk it for all it's worth.
