Agren, interesting theory. Guess any rogue should store away lockboxes containing green items now and check them on each server restart? This could lead to some hilarious amount of [Spinesever].

While we're at the lootsparkles subject, I've been wondering why some herbs had sparkles all over them and some not. I didn't notice any difference in what the herb contained from the herbs with no sparkles. Maybe it's just the code that needs a bit a of attention still.

As for sparkling nodes - my farming toon is a rogue and has both 375 mining and herbing so he switches between tracking of the two. I found that the node type you are currently tracking is the only kind that will sparkle.

I never paid too much attention to the sparkles, and thought that the ones that have a chance of granting a skill up (or at max level are green, yellow or orange) are the ones that sparkle. Why don't players sparkle when a hunter is tracking them?

The sparkles dont seem to be tied to the herb/mine model, so my theory is that the 'non-sparkle' models just have their sparkle animation too low to be visible.
