I decided to try my hand at the timed after having a great week of raids and luck, Having never even attempted to run it timed before, I roped a few guildies who had been doing 3 chests for a while into coming along, made sure I had two tanks I trusted aboslutely and 3 healers who are top notch. Filled out with some great dpsers, making sure I had two aoers to make Dragonhawk super fast. Familiarity with the instance is obviously vital. But not everyone needs to be.

Composition was

Finished with 2.5 minutes to spare despite abit of sloppiness on Dragonhawk (1 death) and some carelessness on the trash to Lynx.

Had our first Bear run last night.. lots of good advice from here and a former guildie who rejoined the guild and had done several Bear runs.

Finished with about 3 min to spare.. had an oh crap moment on Lynx when the Cat got loose and almost ganked 2 people. Mindset was a big thing for us.. believing we could do it was 90% of the battle.

From what I can see, the most important thing seems to be not to stress about it, just progress normally.

Just like to say a big thank you to everyone in here for some great information.

We got our mount with 2 minutes left on the timer and we made a number of mistakes.

We've gotten two mounts so far, with 3 and 4 minutes to spare, thanks for all of the advice. The biggest areas that we saved time in were the Dragonhawk trash (Just getting familiar with the trash) and Lynx trash. We jump through the huts and water-walk past the croc pat.

We also blow through the bosses very quickly because we chain heroisms into the melee group. They have heroism for most of every fight.

Again, just to reiterate what everyone said: Having a solid group of people who can do their job and play well is of utmost importance. One of our two resto shamans is a recent server transfer with mostly T4 level gear and had never run ZA and did fine his first try. On his second run, we beat the timed event. We only run with 2 healers too so that is very impressive.

I see you're addicted to shamans just like my group is. We got our first bear last week, nobody of us is wearing any raiding gear, just KZ, ZA, some S1/S3 and the new 2.4 badge loot (which got my priest to 2250 heal unbuffed). We usually go for the third chest only but we had so much time remaining that we went ahead and rushed to lynx.

We've been doing ZA with 2 healers for a while and it's not too difficult, just requires some potting on eagle/dragonhawk. I actually died at the start of lynx to an unlucky flame shock/earth shock combo and we killed him anyway with just the paladin solo healing.

 

Shadecast

We have never been too serious about the timed events because we just arn't geared enough to give the 4th chest a serious attempt.... however... last night we got our 'Team A' of raiders together and decided to see what chest we could get up to.

FYI, we are essentially T4 geared... with a little T5 (VR/Lurker/A'lar down... but only a few times each)

Ended up getting the third chest down with 2mins left on the timer... VERY happy with that. Also the first time I broke 900dps as a spriest (actually hit 992dps on Halazzi... so VERY close to the magic 1k dps mark ).

Obviously we'd need to swap in another DPS for a chance at the 4th chest... but overall i'm very happy with our performance considering our gear.

Our only sub so far has been a different warlock in my place, and that same warlock replacing one of the mages.
