2.4 Details, as they arrive

I'll edit the original post here to incorporate information as it becomes available. Please keep this thread to legitimate announcements only - we've had enough speculation.

Announced changes to date:



- General -

* Introduction of Sunwell Plateau (25-man raid instance) and new 5-man dungeon, as well as related faction.

* Loot from the Burning Crusade world bosses (Doom Lord Kazzak and Doomwalker) will now be Bind on Equip.

* 25-man raid bosses will now drop 3 tier armor set tokens per kill.

* Reputation gain rate in Battle for Mount Hyjal increased.

* Gems from Heroic dungeons are no longer Unique-Equipped.

* Spell Haste will reduce the global cool down on spells, down to a minimum of 1 second (doesn't apply to melee and ranged abilities).

* When you loot a Bind on Pickup item that only you can pick up (such as Heroic Badges) you'll no longer see the confirmation dialog. When you loot a Bind on Pickup item the confirmation window is going to list the name of the item in the window.

* Daily quests for Fishing will be added in 2.4.

* Ranks of spells acquired by talents (e.g. Mortal Strike) will not need to be re-trained upon further respecs.

* Items intended for Retribution Paladins have had their stats adjusted.

* The inability to summon in Netherstorm will be removed (/cheer Tigole).

* More Badge of Justice rewards to be added.

* A new portal to access the Caverns of Time will be made available to players via Keepers of Time reputation.



- PvP -

* There will not be diminishing return calculations on honorable kills in 2.4. No honor will be awarded for killing players with Resurrection Sickness, or for killing a player who has died 50+ times in the same Battleground.

* Honor calculations will now happen instantaneously, as opposed to nightly.

* Stealth detection in Arenas will now debuff the player with a 5% increased damage taken effect, as opposed to the previous DoT effect.

* Players will now be able to purchase level 70 Superior quality PvP items from reputation vendors.

* Horde starting tunnel moved further back in Alterac Valley.

* The General and Warmasters in Alterac Valley for each faction will receive a stacking buff from each other that boosts their health and damage.

* Balinda Stonehearth in Alterac Valley will have new abilities. Balinda and General Vanndar Stormpike's additional health will be removed.

* Repeatable Battleground quests to be added.



- Professions -

Enchanting:

* A new recipe, allowing the Enchanter to split 1 Void Crystal into 2 Large Prismatic Shards, will be added.



- Classes -

Druid:

* Lacerate will now scale with Feral Attack Power.

Mage:

* Conjured Manna Biscuit is now Unique (80).
* Spellsteal will no longer overwrite buffs that have a longer duration.

Priest:

* Fear Ward castable in Shadowform.

Shaman:

* Healing Grace will reduce the chance that all of your spells will be dispelled by 10/20/30%.

Warlock:

* The ability to summon players directly into instances with Ritual of Summoning will be re-enabled in 2.4

Warrior:

* Off-Hand weapon critical hits from Whirlwind will trigger Flurry and Rampage.
* Endless Rage to provide significantly more Rage.



- User Interface -

* Interface options changes will allow AddOn authors to interact more readily with the game interface, decreasing the likelihood of integration bugs or AddOn 'taint'.

* The combat log system will receive a dramatic overhaul.

* The Raid UI now can display the range of players relative to you.

I thought (before WoWBlues died) that the post said Kazzak and Doomwalker would have their gold drop increased (in addition to the BoE loot), not all 25 man bosses (who are getting extra set tokens).

Yah here it is.

Shitting up every single thread on EJ since '06

Not really that awesome. As it stands it only takes a few weeks to completely deck out a raid. The real problem is the non token pieces.

My point was that this change in no way reduces the amount of time a guild will have to farm a boss to get all the items they need.

Considering most guilds only kill Vashj/Kael the half-dozen (or less) times they have to for attunements, a 50% increase in number of tokens is pretty substantial.

This isn't complicated. If 25 people step into a raid and get 1 token from the boss, it takes 25 weeks to gear the raid. If the boss drops 2 tokens, 13 weeks. And now with 3 tokens it takes 9 weeks.

It never takes "a few weeks" unless you can't count or are operating based on some hidden conditions not transperant to your readers.

I think it is a good change, it just doesn't address the bigger issue of 30+ kills on a boss and we still have 0 Paladin boots off Naj'entus, etc. Anyway enough of this talk, let us revel in the glory of 2.4 infos!

It is even more than that because token drops are not balanced between the class groupings, and will not be evenly distributed.

If you have been farming Illidian since October this is almost meaningless to you. The rest of us are really happy.

Spell Haste - GCD should make it a much more desirable stat for a lot of builds (FoL Pallys anyone?), looking forward the mass theorycraft changes. Gotta love patch note days.

Yea I really don't get the point of that change. Set pieces have been going to offspec or destroyed for months now. But we're still farming for the non-set items. It would be much more useful to get a re-slotting of the non-set pieces and an extra non-set slot per boss.

Edit: damn this thread is moving fast. But yes I agree for the guild powering through T5 towards T6 attunement it's a big help. Applying the change to T6 however doesn't really help (as the T6 set items bosses are the final bosses of their respective instances anyway) and just accelerates the current discrepency between T6 set completion and T6 non-set completion time.

Its not meaningless, we've still only had 5 Vanquisher drops from Illidan and we killed him around Oct/Nov I believe.

Not to mention that even if the gear drops were perfectly balanced you would most likely have more of some classes than others, resulting in needing more of one and less of another... oh and you will also more than likely have something in the range of 30+ players to gear up not 25 - can we end this line of useless crap?


Im curious as to if the gems will end up being simply BoP however, Blizzard have a nack for being unspecific and then ending up with not what was expected.

As to people crying about sources, you could expect that the random crap fake stuff tends to be kept on the WoW forums and is not really posted here, or atleast not as its own topic. Maybe you could spend a few mins per day looking at blue trackers, wow boards, mmo-champion, wor, etc to be able to get the evidence you so badly need but are so lazy to find yourselves.
