Between spell haste gems, resist food, flag carriers taking extra damage, and daily Halaa & Spirit Towers quests, I am moderately pleased with the minor tweakings. And I'm glad to see the STV fishing contest pools being untrackable was a bug. But I agree, let's hope that the major balances changes are in the pipe for after people get their sunwellgasm over with and the PTR population dies down to the hardcore testers and the terminally bored.
Removing the attunements *and* making kael & vashj not requires their predecessors together seems like an odd move. I'm guessing the second change has a motivation unrelated to the first: either allowing T6 guilds to keep them in the schedule, or making it easier to allow people to come back and get the ring quest after the fact. I'm guessing the intention is the former, although I'm not sure how that will pan out. Unless there are specific drops on them people need they're still stepping-stone bosses atm regardless of how accessible they are. Your average guild starting to work on T6 would see an extra, what, month of them? I suppose it's an improvement...

For the BT amulet you only need to kill alar and the lich in MH, so you wouldn't need the vials. Considering how easy is the lich(can never remember his name, I only know raz frostwhisper from scholo), T5 guilds would be able to do the BT amulet quest, but it's not very good compared to the rings from MH, especially with increased rep in MH.
A very welcome change nonetheless, no more attuning when it goes in, but then again we'll be in sunwell, so I don't know how much we'll do T6 content then. Maybe to gear new recruits in.
I'm WAY happier with the changes(or lack of) to resto druids tho, seeing as how the fake patch notes announced lifeblooms nerfs and so on. It's all crappy buffs, but better than nerfs ^^.
However, it looks like a pretty empty patch. I know they said there will be multiple versions, but it starts rather weak, since there's almost no class changes at all. I guess they really spent a lot of ressources on sunwell related stuff, since the rest could pretty much fit in one of these 10mb 2.x.1 patches they make. Now the most annoying thing, as usual with big patches is, I know what will happen, but it won't happen anytime soon. I could use some MH rep right now ^^.

Wow, I really never thought they'd drop attunements so soon. "Soon" is a relative term of course but honestly, I can only see this ending in tears. Of course it is probably a month off yet regardless but it must be a bad time for guilds pushing T5 content at the moment.
Oh well, Sunwell soon! Now if I can just get through to D/L the test patch.

I misread divine illumination for illumination.
Divine Illumination: The mana energize from this talent no longer has a chance to set off other triggered effects.
What is this change referring to?

Long time since I played a paladin, but I believe divine illumination is the mana back on crits? That'd just mean that this effect that gives mana back can't proc stuff, like meditation buff from bangle of endless blessing, blue dragon aura from the old darkmoon card trinket and so on. They fixed some of those already, like how you can't proc trinkets by using items. Everything not fixed those, I think I proced meditation by going caster form the other day, or something unrelated like that, and I'm pretty sure I proced something with enchanting or disenchanting.

It does size down eventually, but slower computers have to download the whole thing before it finishes resizing making the thread unmanageably wide. Thanks for the thought though =)

Divine Illumination is the 50% mana reduction buff. I almost want to say that this means regular illumination won't go off when it's active.

Anybody finds the weapons and the creature a bit off from what blizzard told us a while ago ?
I remember them saying that there would be 6 bosses: Kil'jaeden, female eradar twins, a fel dragon, a dark naaru, kalecgos and brutalicus. Now, from what i'm looking at from weapons, that polearm is the same as the polearm that the frostlod is wielding. Does it mean they changed the bosses or added some ??

Can people not post full scale pictures, really annoying when trying to actually read comments.
On topic:
The mana regen mechanic spirit-int sounds like the most interesting mechanic change.
The other thing that really made me smile though was the priest reflective shield change... finally I can keep those 5 points and not feel I'm actually causing more harm than good in 2v2.
Otherwise its much as expected really, a little tidy up, the promised instances of coarse and the usual nerfing that lets those behind in raiding see the currently present but locked content, but as said, nothing really overwhelming in there.
edit, Thanks on pictures, now can read it.
And those elves look really really ill, like a heroin addict taking near lethal doses.

well, illumination itself counts as a spell
for example
holy lights crits for 9000 - spell
paladin receives 480 mana from illumination - spell
some items trigger on a spell, i was thinking about the insightful earthstorm diamond. That item triggers off the illumination mana return, instead of the holy light spell cast, sometimes.
this is all moot though, the notes said "divine illumination" which reduces the mana cost of all spells for like 15 seconds. It has a 2 or 3 min cooldown.
I can't understand what they're changing about this.

Totem timers? Wow, I'm hearing people dancing in the streets, and I think it's the Shamans. I'll go join them soon.
Overall, I like what they're doing. Now, it remains to be seen how the actual numbers will work out for the gems and class changes.

The purpose of this patch is to push Sunwell, I don't think we're going to see too many class changes. It's to be expected.
|
Agreed. Tuning Sunwell to generally require T6 gearing and introducing sweeping class changes in the same patch would be complicated at best. Even the INT->SPI change switches things up a lot as far as I'm concerned.
The burning questions for me right now are:
1. Does the Ret itemization change mean S1 and S2 sets will get resilience, and will the T4/T5/T6 finally lose spell damage in favor of STR and other melee stats?
2. How much rep and gold will the HWL sets cost, and across which factions?

According to a post by Drysc, the new badge loot with be on par with BT loot.

Not to mention BT quality badge loot... *cough*

And later in the post:

Yeah, I don't think it made the notes. The vendor is on Sunwell Isle, some nice fist weapons I saw.
