I think it's also for the expansion.
Everyone respecs to a DPS spec and still gets to use all their shiny Sunwell loot.

Shaman resto/ele (no enh loot there)
Druid feral/boomkin/resto

Actually the feral loot shares the rogue sets so its more like:
Warrior tank/dps
Paladin heal/tank (haven't seen any ret gear actually unless you count the warrior dps)
Shaman resto/ele
Druid resto/moonkin
Rogue/Feral Druid
Priest holy/Caster Dps
MIA: Enhancement shaman/hunters

Unfortunately its one way so you cannot do this for every slot. A boss will drop a moonkin chest. If you want the healing chest you will have to swap it and reacquire the moonkin chest.

A couple other points of interest: one of the files in the Muru textures directory is VoidGod_Skin. There's also a seperate void god texture directory. Voidgod may be a part of the Muru encounter (read one of my earlier spoilers for a guess as to how). Or not!
There's also a mesh labeled NetherDrakonidBoss. 5 man?

There seems to be some problems with getting copied characters ingame at the moment. The time i was on i only saw a single level 70 running around surrounded by hordes of lvl 1s that swam across. A general /who didn't bring any more up either, so it might be a while before anyone gets inside and brings back some shots.

If you take the Voidgod screenshot and the M'uru screenshot and compare them side by side, you can see that the structure attached to the Voidgod is identically shaped to part of M'uru's structure.

WOW, they just posted JC BoP neck pieces and the melee one is outrageously good.

Either I'm blind or no one posted the graphics for new tabard yet:
Shattered Sun Offensive tabard
Really nice design imo (for once!), it's become somewhat of a habit to collect all the nice-looking tabards in-game and this'll be a worthy addition.

The implications for dps casters seem clear: Pick up +hit on your cloak/rings/neck/trinkets/weapons.
Sigh, now I have to go get a [Tempest of Chaos].
Second, the tailored BoP Sunfire Robe is incredibly superior to anything else in the game.

Wow, maybe time to finally retire my old [Tabard of the Protector].
I'm really curious to see how this new loot turn-in system works. It has the potential to offset the terrible luck inherent with the RNG system, but in the end it could be just as bad if you keep getting the same piece over and over again. Should be something to watch though.

Those necks are pretty nice. The spell damage one requiring 2 Crimson Spinels is just wrong though. Of all the gems to pick...

It's not just the idea of standalone expansions that replace what came before and will eventually be supplanted by the next expansion; it's the fact that Blizzard almost seems to be making this up as they go along. It feels clumsy. They created a blue-->t4-->t5-->t6 progression model that made sense for PvE, but then they've completely disrupted it with little regard for the elegance that it initially entailed. It leaves me with a general feeling of uncertainty and discomfort with the state of the game at any given time, sort of a "why do anything, if everything becomes irrelevant in a matter of months?"

The philosophy behind this is more of a season than of a permanent advantage. If I remember correctly some Community Manager or other blue poster wrote something about the introduction of competition in PVE progression. If the next saison or the next raid instance is patched in the race starts anew. Only the difference will be much smaller.
While I am absolutely in favor of closing or tighten the gear gap regulary I cannot see the points about titles. Why isn't a title like "Hand of Ad'al" only granted to people that downed Illidan before patch 2.3 hit for example. What they are doing right now is like giving a Gladiator title for everyone that can collect the full Season 1 set.
Raiders should get their status symbols, but I love the idea of closing the gear gap every now and then. So give the raiders the titles, the mounts and some weeks of dominance with their new toys and then close the gap again.

Still hit on the belt, but yeah I noticed that too. Might be why the new staff has such a high amount (50) of +hit on it.

I think the last tabard I bothered wearing more than a day was Argent Dawn's, from naxxramas opening event. It looked pretty similar to this one too.
As for the items, there sure looks to be a lot of good stuff. My warrior will be able to get a new crafted neck assuming the mats drop from the 5man or something, and not from the 25man, and that healing neck at exalted might replace my S3 pvp neck for my pve gear(depending on the proc, but the only neck that's a clear upgrade currently ingame seems to be the spell crit one from BT, and that sure is a lot of wasted points for a druid).
Well well, seems there will be some stuff to do on the PTR tomorrow, or next week depending on when it goes up again and stays up for a decent amount of time. They also seem to have kept the whole sunwell base progress event stuff out of ptr, since you start at the beggining. I guess they'll keep it for live servers, like the AQ event. Means a lot of hotfixes as they find bugs in their stuff ^^.

Looking at that crafted BoE stuff (and presumably BoE patterns for the BoP stuff) I get mega $$$ in my eyes. Wow. Our guild bank will be extremely more rich than it is now once all guildies have that stuff.

I don't understand why the items coming out of Sunwell are equal or LOWER iLvL than the T6 items in those same slots. The warrior tanking shoulders, legs, and chest are lower ilvl than Onslaught. However, some are better just due to better itemization - but still. Are only the last few bosses going to be higher ilvl, or something? I don't know how to do it, but just by looking, it appears the new T6 items (wrist/belt/boots) are indeed higher item level.
Maybe I misread the blue posts about Sunwell, but I thought they said it will start off equal to T6 level, and then go higher from there, so seeing items that are lower is weird.

There are areas on the map which when you go over them stated "Held by the enemy", which means its not unlocked I believe.
It would be funny if you need to unlock the last 3 bosses of Sunwell to make the badge vendor spawn (provided its BoJ), thats a pretty good incentive for casuals to really help out :P
The leatherworking chest is a 17healing, 7mp5, 5~sta/int upgrade over T6 (provided 3x Spinel in both), nice.

You have patterns to make BoP items using simple mats, and patterns to make BoE items using rare raid mats.
