Judging by the screenshots I saw it looked like he banished himself at 1% to prevent himself from dying course maybe both just die at the end after the Dread Lord dies. But it seems more like Blizzard intends on Kalec surviving and the purpose of the fight is to just control the dragon as people take their 60 seconds in the demon realm killing the dread lord.

You have to dps down the demon form it seems while the outside realm with the dragon is just an endurance fight.

Does anyone know whether or not the engineering goggle upgrade recipes are boe or available from a source outside of the sunwell 25 man raid?
If I missed it when I went back to check the first post, very sorry =/

Haven't done anything on the PTR yet, but my impression is:
Imagine C'Thun except the real thing you have to kill is inside him.

I saw the Schematic for one drop off Sunwell trash, it appeared to be BoE.

Worldofraids has this:
http://www.worldofraids.com/2008/ptr...schematic1.jpg
So it looks sellable, which would follow the rule about patterns for BoP items.
Edit: a few seconds too late, but with a link

Interesting. I wonder what the incentive is to keep DPSing the dragon in the "real" world, rather then just having him sit there at full health.

The PTR picture of Kalecgos at 1% was just us trying something while learning it. Not going to ruin any surprises for anyone though. Also, so far Sunwell has been pretty awesome. Challenging trash, an even more challenging boss, and finally some green happy looking places.

Probably no incentive at all other than just control him and survive.

On screen, human Kalegos is at 24% and dragon is ~75% at same time. Dpsing dragon heals his human form?

Could be I wouldn't know as I haven't had a chance to go on the PTR yet and just am going by what I see :p But if thats the case you probably want to not zerg him down and DPS slowly.

Have members of the raid that fought him mentioned anything about what happens after he banishes himself? Does he stay banished at 1%? Becomes un-banished after a set period? Does he attack or move or anything while banished?
If he simply stays banished, wouldn't the incentive to getting him to 1% be that he no longer will damage the raid not in the demon realm? Seems that that is a pretty substantial reason to dps him down to banishing himself, the prior post of healing the human form non-withstanding of course.

It seems the purpose of the Kalec fight is to kill the Dread Lord fighting his half elf form before the Dread Lord kills him and not Kalec's dragon form. When the Dread Lord dies hes probably released and then ends up aiding you.
|
Now that sounds pretty awesome.
Wish they would fix the copied chars soon.

Well if damaging the dragon form heals the half-elf form then you would probably want to DPS the dragon when the half elf form is getting low and if you zerged him to 1% real quick you wouldn't be able to do that.

From what I'm hearing, all this speculation we've been doing is completely wrong.

As far as I know, killing the dragon doesn't heal the human form, but I can't say for sure. I'm also unsure what happens when he "banishes" himself, but I would think he'd still be attacking, otherwise it might be too easy.

Well that wouldn't be anything new for me :p But yea I found out the demon is the prime target and if the half elf form dies its a wipe.

I'd have to see a killshot to believe it. Both those items were known and its obvious from the name where they would drop.

Or rather, it's Vaelastrasz, except you get to see and intervene with his internal struggle.

Well... not quite. It's like C'thun, because of the fact that you travel between two different zones and your raid needs to communicate effectively, the situation on both sides and handle it accordingly.
Granted it's like Vael in the whole concept of a corrupted dragon, Kalec doesn't necessarily revolve around the same tactics as did Vael.

Well yea, but the thought is that now you can call their IDs on the PTR, so they must have been dropped officially. Not so with the other loots.

Or it just so happens that some GM spawned a few loots to see? Seen it happen many times before on live servers as well, linking stuff that you shouldn't be able to. Mostly remember that back from Naxxramas days.
Also one person, that supposedly tried it, say that hurting his dragon form heals his other form. It's on the WoR forum, so not sure how reliable it is.
