1. You are overestimating the progression level of some servers. In my opinion, it makes sense to give T4 bosses a lower drop rate on essences to avoid hurting low population/progression servers.
2. How would flasks & HoDs as reward for killing Gruul, Magtheridon be out of line in a patch that promises to offer BT quality gear for Badges of Justice?

A care package of sorts, containing epic gems, epic patterns, hearts of darkness, and an assortment of flasks.

That would be very fast on some servers (11x4+8x3=68/week just counting Archimonde killing guilds on MG) and very slow on others (16 per week on my old server counting everyone killing Vashj+). Seems like an odd way to open the gate, but if it's just to open new raid bosses- I can understand. I just hope it doesn't have an impact on the more casual part of the opening event.

I just turned in our [Essence of the Immortals]from Felmyst and the completed % for the Agamatha Gate jumped from 3 to 5, so it's slightly higher than 1% per Essence.

Apparently some lock got Brutallus through his invisible wall and caused chaos. He was able to be enslaved, banished, etc.

Just finished up our raid for the night.
Turned in 2 more Essences. Before turning them in, the effort was at 7%, it was 10 after turning them in. Looks like 1.5% per turn-in.

Based on the above post of 3->5% with 1 essense, and 7->10% with 2 essenses, I'd wager each essense is 1.25%, and the displayed percentage is truncated.
3% is 3.75%(3 turn ins), with 1 more becomes 5%.
7% is actually 7.5%(6 turn ins), which turns into 8.75% and 10.0%
So looks like a total of 80 essenses is needed?

we have to know if illi/archi/vashj/kael drops the essences. I find it weird that it could take up to 30 weeks for a server to open it up. I know on my server we're the only illi killing guild, so it would take us a 6 months to open the gate.

I think it's safe to say that those Essences must drop from more then just Sunwell. It would take months to do that quest solo(Guild), and obviously Blizzard doesn't expect a lot of guilds to be in there farming the first 3 bosses due to the gear/skill requirements.
BTW nice work in there, you tore up those bosses tonight.

So then it's concluded that the Essences are the only way to increase %? Isn't it possible that as we go farther, we open up more content which allows things to move faster? And there's most likely an innate increase in the %, much like the AQ War Effort, to help those factors along.
I'm sure there's more to it than just Essences... that would be too harsh a penalty for circumstances outside of people's control.

So after 48h on ptr the three first bosses are already dead. Isn't that too fast? Have wow raiders surpassed the game and can adapt to the new encounters faster than the developers ever imagined?

To be fair, the kind of raiders who copy characters to the PTR are probably slightly more dedicated than the average guild.

Partly yes, but I think this is the first time that guilds have had basically their whole raid in perfect gear going into the next zone due to it being around 8 months of illidan farming for many guilds, and for the first 2 bosses that is a very big deal, the 3rd boss is only down so fast because he is bugged.

Well thats what the PTR is for. If they think these bosses died too easily they can chop and change them before they hit live.
As for the Essence of the Immortals, is that % linked with the % that the other guy talks about (I believe its the guy who gives the daily for changing the robot) or is it a seperate %, one for opening the gate and one for expanding the encampment?

There are a staggering number of perfectly geared people on Test right now. Honestly, this is nothing like the TBC beta at all in terms of having skilled and outfitted people available. Even I chuckled to see a fully kitted dual-WG Rogue begging for a MT group.
I think the real test will be to see what the latter part of the zone offers as well, of course, as seeing how they play with the first three bosses. Tuning is far from over. I can only hope (presuming that I can squeeze time to raid again) that the obstacle is not entirely artificial and that it doesn't depend too much on your server's activity rate. I really just can't see Blizzard dropping the ball there entirely though given the present trends towards server-moving to the already overpopulated realms.

Drawing any conclusions about pacing of the opening event from the PTR is the height of foolishness.

While I would completely agree, would not the expected bias be towards them accelerating the PTR's opening? There is precedent and it would make sense for testing unless they are going to 'unveil' testing version 2.0.
That is hardly out of the question of course but one of the very elements they must be interested in testing is how fast progression goes in a strange environment. I don't mean only bosses-killed progression either or even primarily. Blizzard has a very vested interest in making sure the sunwell opening goes smoothly or at least interestingly.

Fairly sure this goes against what they have said and I would be extremely disappointed if this was the case. A gear check that's passable by guilds just entering MH/BT? Really doubt it. Looking forward to 6 tough bosses, remember this has to last until WotLK

Does anyone know if the blue pvp pieces available from rep in 2.4 count as part of the gladiator sets for the set-bonus? I.e. can my druid equip 1 piece S1, 2 pieces S3 and 1 blue piece for the 15% runspeed bonus?
(Sorry, if it's been mentioned, but I haven't been able to find anything on it, nor copy a character myself.)

Brutallus felt very undertuned when we downed him. To be honest, it feels intended to be a reward fight for passing Kalecgos.

Without going into mechanics too much how would you rate the difficulty of Kalecgos? Is it purely the raid co-ordination that is tested or is there a gear check mechanic to this?
