May want to note that PvE or PvP doesn't matter anymore.

Actually it still does because posters may still want to designate a ruleset as a destination.

Some people may still only want to consider PvP and some may want to only consider PvE.

Just for casual curiosity I wouldn't mind seeing what ruleset they are currently on now and what they're looking for, so you can see a trend of people looking to move from one ruleset to the other.

I've just uploaded a beta of v2 which adds the following features:

Regarding Writhe's comment, I'd like to hear your ideas for this 'pvp arena version'. What features would you like to see added? There is currently no technical information about WoW Lemmings that is public, but I'd be happy to answer your questions if you have specifics. Also, no plans to release the source presently.

PvP Arena version would be relatively the same I presume. Maybe filter for PvP guilds and Arena teams as there are some guilds around that focus on PvP only. There is currently an online match-making site for arena teams (supporting LFM and LFG); however, you need to create a profile which is rather annoying. And this doesn't cover the guild aspect of things.

Few questions:

1. Briefly looking over your blog I noticed their probably isn't any learning involved in your trawlers habits. confirm?
2. Bleh confirm it even trawls?
3. How often?
4. Does it purge or create deltas to update things?
5. What's the back end look like?
6. Languages?
7. DB?
8. Cache techniques?

Asking because I'm curious, A trawler is something I have been meaning to write for some time now but haven't gotten around to it yet. Feel free to ignore any questions I'm sure I could ask a million given enough time.

Ideas:
Looking at the timestamps it looks to be ordering by latest post first. Is it also ordered by latest reply? Some people bump their posts for weeks, it should probably have more customised sorting avail. (my 2c). (I would be able to tell but time conversions of 19~hours is far too much effort for my liking while at work.)

More on the ordering area, you could drum up some more, initial, website traffic with auto bumping or post highlighting for people that include a link in their forum post, or something along those lines anyway. They could also include special lemmings rule keywords for easier processing by your system. Could be abused though.

Color coding, What was your motivation behind the color coding chosen? I find it harder to separate the classes with the color as opposed to just having plain-text, Class names are very well associated in my head though so this may be why. Maybe mix colored boxes with black text saying "Priest","Warrior" etc would help.

Filtering: You don't allow combo selection (ie searching for some but not all classes for recruiting). You also can't filter by type (dps,healer,tank,hybrid,healerdps hybrid tankdps hybrid). That would be rather handy especially now with this merging of viable class selection. (ie Tank search = Warrior(Prot only), Paladin(Prot only), Druid(feral only)). You could really go quite far with this and you probably have thought about more extensive filtering and decided to cut it back for implementation reasons.

Offer direct armory links instead of only to the posts. Search the posts for armory links also in case there are some with multiple people/chars in the post. You may also need to double check the poster is lvl 70 so you don't link to deadlinks.

Display-bug:
Noted with Firefox 3 (And probably others): Please add a few line-breaks to the bottom of the page. General formatting issue with popup text as it increases the page height and puts the popup text below the visible area on the page, but scrolling down moves the mouse off of the hovered text (and then hiding the text you wanted to see): meaning it is almost impossible to view the last few adds if they have a decent amount of text, without clicking on them. (sorry pet peeve with a lot of sites)

Out of curiosity, how does the idiot filter work?

It parses the post and compares it against a list of commonly mistyped words, or words that would otherwise indicate a player that is, shall we say, a few french fries short of a happy meal.

The worst offender is probably 'rouge'.

Small problem. I'm not sure exactly what has happened but wow lemmings has not been parsing the wow-forums for over a week now. Other sources seem to be loading fine.

There was a hiccup due to (what I can only assume was) an issue with the Blizz forums changing how they handled sessions, possibly a result of their recent enabling (and subsequent disabling) of the Blizz Authenticator. This issue should be fixed.

Another small update for those of you using WoW Lemmings. I am beta testing a Twitter bot that sends out twits at various intervals whenever new recruitment data is scraped. If the RSS feed isn't right for you, you may consider giving this a try.
