I'm not sure what you're talking about with gem picking? Can you explain what's happening that you expect not to, or what's not happening that you expect to?

Well now I'm getting all kinds of problems. Armory is loading for me and I can surf around it just fine, but any time I try to do anything in Rawr that involves Armory retrieval I get either a string of errors or it just times out. This is without Rawr.mage installed (I uninstalled it since it seemed to be the major source of fubar) and with a fresh re-install of Rawr b11 after that. It's also only showing 1 item (my currently equipped item) for me in the item comparison table even after I update the item cache.

You're probably talking about the new 2.4 items, which are just manually entered into Rawr. At the time b11 was released, ItemIDs hadn't been released for the new items yet, so Rawr doesn't know the right item id to open in wowhead. b11a will have the correct ItemIDs for the new feral items.

Maybe I'm missing this somewhere, how do I tell Rawr not to use Epic gems?

Just start from scratch, with the files from the Rawr b11 zip. Delete all your other cache xml files.

Was this directed at me? Basically, I expect it to not pick gems that give literally no benefit (like +hit when I am at the hit cap) or are terrible (+intellect, +spirit). The mage module currently is doing both of those things for me.

You control what gems are in each item manually. Right click an item, edit. Or Tools > Item Editor. On the Item Editor you can mass replace all gems with certain ones by color if you want, with the 'Fill Sockets...' button.

Rawr doesn't 'pick' any gems for you, unless Kavan made some major changes that I haven't seen. The gems in each item are entirely customizable. (And careful about calling int/spr gems terrible, they may be the hot new gem in 2.4, I'm hearing. )

Well what he's saying though is that he's at the hit cap, but the mage model says "replace with item X and gem it with Spell Hit gems" which would push him way over the cap.

Nice work guys :-) I like to tinker around with different gear combos for my druid with this program. I also like the fact that it isn't a web program. Makes it faster.

I didn't realize you could change the gems around, I will play with that. But it gets the default gems from somewhere, and whatever heuristic it's using for that seems like it could be better.
I really appreciate all the work on Rawr by the way, this is a very awesome tool!

The default item gemmings are A) Whatever Kavan loaded it with, and B) Whatever's on your character. Kavan's a deep arcane mage, so those gemmings are good choices for him, but probably not so much so for many others.

Yes the gemming is that because I loaded it with that. I just wanted to load in some items so that you don't have to go look for ids of items that are relevant. The gem choices are not supposed to be intelligent, I just filled it all with the same. Next time I'll either leave the items unsocketed or make several versions of all items for the common gemming styles. If you want automatic gemming the closest thing to it I think is doing find for upgrades from armory menu which will fill gems that are best in your current setting (I'm not sure whether it considers socket bonus matching).

Don't have VS2008 installed at work or I would fire up the source and see what was going on... Maybe it is an issue specific to my character... Try loading character "Tifordin" from US realm "Khaz'goroth".
