Blizzard has been systematically nerfing raid bosses, while systematically boosting gear that can be obtained through heroic badges and honor. At the same time they've been removing attunements and making it easier for less-progressed guilds to see more of the game's raiding content.

So, instead of constantly nerfing bosses, why not just reduce the amount of trash and allow longer resets for [Top Tier - 2 Raid]. As in, when Nihilium downs Illidan, cut the SSC/TK trash in half and give an optional 2 week reset for Karazhan. This will first allow more casual guilds to progress further by having more solid attempt-time on raid bosses without actually nerfing the bosses themselves, and second it will allow BT/Hyjal guilds to key new recruits without it being a giant hassle.

For reference, I'm in a 4/5 Hyjal 4/9 BT guild, and we raid 5 nights a week. I'd call myself anything but casual and I base this on the amount of time I have at disposal to commit to raiding.

I might get it, but I can hardly blame new players, even at level 70, who don't know what the hell is going on, because I've seen it happen to too many intelligent people. There aren't even reliable in-game tools to give them the information they need to be competent. Now, if you don't see that as Blizzards problem, then that's your choice. But you wouldn't make a very good game developer.

Stupid analogy. It's not a job, it's a video game. If a large proportion of your customer base isn't satisfied, then you figure out how to make them satisfied. As with any company that produces products or services. End of story. You sure as hell don't tell them why they should be satisfied with what they have, because that's just going to convince them that you don't give a shit, and make them go somewhere else.

All things considered, I see very few people explicitly calling for nerfs (although it certainly does happen). Certainly not enough to provide a basis for Blizzard to actually nerf content. If they're nerfing content, it's because they've looked at the numbers and found that not enough players are accomplishing what they want them to accomplish.

Players are complaining that there's no PvE progression path for them outside of raids, and that they don't get to participate in the major lore elements without dedicating a large amount of time to raiding, but these aren't requests for nerfs.
I’m going to end this by saying you have your opinion and I have mine, which is why we have these threads.

I think what this thread was intended to cover is being discussed elsewhere on these boards

Yes no more of the "Blizzard hates raiders" whining. Actually it was less about complaining on the actual situation. This thread should have been about mechanics encouraging competition on the one hand while giving a large player base access to the developed content. It was never ment to be a thread where one should complain about this old hardcore vs. casual stuff or about welfare epics.

Not really sure if this is what you are looking for (and it's somewhat already been mentioned), but speed or DPS records would be something worth keeping track of, and right now pretty much the main source of "fun" for me in raiding until Sunwell arrives. We already have WWS, but it would be nice if there was an automated in game monitor that could keep track of how long it took a boss to die from the point it was engaged until death as well as the raid DPS. Blizzard seems to like take whatever is really popular, whether it's a mod or site and implement it somehow into the game. It could be similar to the PvP ranking boards with WWS lite. It might be too resource heavy though and impossible to implement for a long time though. Although with the upcoming changes to the combat log, who knows.

*edit, I guess there is already something like that in place, although it's still not an automated Blizzard feature.
