I've always found it highly retarded that functionality of that sort wasn't included in the game at release. It only makes sense to have an easy and intuitive method for people to group up in a group oriented game, after all.

Of course, Vivindi's in charge so I wasn't exactly surprised at how poorly that aspect of the game was put together and rushed out the door, either.

Isn't Vivendi solely responsible for publishing, i.e. have no say in development other than setting deadlines?

I'm not so sure, they may have only been involved with publishing but i'm sure they put the pressure on for a Christmas release, and Blizzard's management probably compromised and development was rushed.

Edit: Forgot to add - this is pretty evident because they didn't have all the classes figured out and talented before coding began, so the design folks were constantly sending more stuff to the coders who were trying to make it work with what they currently had. It sucks, I've had it happen to me and it's an enormous pain in the ass, i can only imagine how annoying it must be for a game of this magnitude.

I don't mind doing some coding...but god damn! I would hate being a programmer for something as large as a MMO.
