Nope! You can still do that. Works like a charm, although i do notice for the scryers that the dragonmaw attack squads start out much further away than before. Your blood elf allies also run out a bit further from the base than they used to.
Other than that, you can still cheese aggro from your base allies with the multishot trick should you so choose.
I just did the quest and the positioning seems to be the same as in 2.3, so I don't think there's been any change there.
Woo, thanks! That solved it. Added it to my already existing macro that hides the ugly World Map icon by the minimap. Which I always press when I login. :>
/script MiniMapWorldMapButton:Hide();
If anyone is interested in that.
I am having this same sort of problem, my first chat window always shows guild, party, whispers, raidchat, and system messages when I log on and I have to turn them on and back off in order to get them to disappear every time. I am also having issues with the in-game scrolling combat text such that I have to go turn it on every time I log on since SCT does not work with the new combat log.
I'm not sure how to make the functions listed earlier work in a macro - when I copy them in and click the macro, they just show up in whatever chat channel I'm currently in. Do I need to put /script in front of them? Also, is there a script command I can add to turn the combat text on?
1. Jumping on the "blue gems drop more/Onyxia deep breaths more" bandwagon, my guildie Rogue mined 2 Solid Stars from a single Nethercite vein, turned around and mined another one, then mined a Dawnstone from a third.
Seeing as how our rare gem prices were hovering at nearly 70-80g prior to 2.4, I'd consider an increase in the drop rate a Very Good Thing (TM)
2. I can confirm that it's still possible to walljump to the Nethermine Flayer level, it's just more difficult now.
Sorry, should have elaborated. From a mob in normal Magister's Terrace. I'm guessing the rare green gem that was previously in the pickpocket loot table has been replaced or had an added chance to drop a blue gem. Neat !

Only really massive companies can get away with changing something for the worse and not allowing an old version, like Microsoft. And even them have "Classic Views" and stuff.
People who are doing it for free with no renumeration at all can do pretty much whatever they like, actually. You're not paying for Omen...

Anecdotal, but the drop rate of Nether Vortexes from SSC seems to have gone up - clearing Hydross/Lurker/Morogrim netted us five of them (no reclears).
I'd say you have to be within intercept range of Archimonde, which is not that likely during airburst.
Actually it used to be reasonably easy with a modicum of skill. Turn on chat bubbles, watch for someone near you getting the debuff, hover over the intercept key and hit it as soon as you get thrown up in the air before you get out of range.

I can confirm this too, we had a crazy amount of epic drops and vortexes (vortices?) last night from SSC, and we only killed the T5-dropping bosses (Vashj, Leo and Kara). We must have had about 6 or 8 epic drops and probably 4 vortexes (vortices? :P) from trash, along with the 2 from Vashj. More epics in that run last night than our previous 3 or 4 SSC full clears combined, was really quite mad! Not that I'm complaining of course!

That you pay or not does not really make any difference, if you're paying you only have slightly more power behind your words but the basic principle still applies regardless if it's free or not. As a developer you (hopefully) want people to use your software. If pissing off a significant part of your user base is something you enjoy, then well don't be surprised if they stop using your software if there are any alternatives.
Visual apperances are very important (just look at the vast number of "How do I change my UI to look better?" posts in this forum alone for referenses) to a lot of people these days. If people like the old way, why not let them have it that way?
Anyone know why or if there's a workaround or if officer chat is named something other than "OFFICER"? It doesn't seem to be connected to GUILD in any way either. I can turn off GUILD just fine but OFFICER still pops up.
Anecdotal, but I've noticed something different happening with Bloodfury. On my lowbie alt hunter I have it macroed into my opening shot. Pre 2.4 whenever Bloodfury was available auto-shot would not turn on when I opened up (and Bloodfury was used first). Now auto-shot always turns on, even if BF is used first.

I had two blue gems from PPing mobs on normal Magisters Terrace yesterday too.

Well cleared SSC last night and had a total of 2 Vortex drops and that was it. I wouldn't go assuming drop rates increased, after all it's random.

It not just MgT mobs either. I got two blue gems as well yesterday: a star of Elune off a Razanni ethereal in BEM, and a dawnstone off of a Sunfury arcanist outside one of the Netherstorm manaforges.
That and it appears that the channelers have alot less HP. We went in there last night to test it out, granted we all outgear the place, we ended up with 20+ seconds before mag released and all channelers down, this was without kicking any heals and having an accidental pull without buffing.
As someone else mentioned before, Mag = New Onyxia (I would actually say alot easier than her now, as long as you have 5 people who can hit a box within 12 seonds, you get free loot and gold).
Less HP almost certainly. Less likelihood to cast heals as well. We had a couple rogues on "kick the heal" duty and after a while I was like "Yeah, I'm going to kick the shadowbolts because there is no way these guys are going to be healing".
This encounter is so nerfed it's almost relaxing. And, well, that's probably a good thing. It's tier 4 content in a game with tier 6+ content. We do a Mag/Gruul semi-pug once a week, mostly with alts and friends and such. It had been a largely worthless hunt-the-Dragonspine exercise for the past several months. Then last night came and it was 8 badges, 40g and an epic gem I won in a roll off (one of 4 guarnanteed goodies Mag haas with the 3 epic gems, 1 bag). The whole Mag/Gruul took like an hour.
