I think further evidence that Old Gods are the source of the conflict within the dragonflights comes from the NPC Ralo'shan the Eternal Watcher at Staghelm Point in Silithus. I've reproduced her 'story' below:

"Greetings, traveler. It was here, nearly 1,000 years past, that the Qiraji began their march of destruction across Kalimdor.

"Thousands of lives were lost during the war, most in this cursed desert during the initial invasion.

"I am one of only a few that remain, chained to both the past and the present. I know not why I am to remain stationed here but I know that I must."

Player: How do you know?

"I have been slain a hundred times. I always wake here, alive. Some say I am cursed and others..."

Player: What do they say?

"They say that I am blessed. A herald to harken in a new age."

Player: And what do you say?

"Ancient forces stir - forces that have not been seen or felt for thousands of years. The world weeps, #player_race. Perhaps a new sundering comes. A sickness born from within...

"The foulness has begun to seep into our lands. From the Dream come nightmares. Nightmares to befoul us in our waking hours..."

This seems to me to suggest that the Emerald Nightmare and the Qiraji (ie: C'thun) are linked, thus lending credence to the idea that the Old Gods are interfering in draconic affairs.

Appears to be a few lore bombs ready to drop Metzen agreed to a few interviews at a signing on the 6th and 7th at new york comic con. Transcripts not out yet that I can tell but apparently there is a New Aspect of Magic and it isn't a dragon, and it isn't the person who isn't a dragon that you first think of when that is said. I'm at a loss for who'd have intense knowledge of the arcane other than Khadgar/Rhonin of the humans and I don't think that dwarves, trolls, tauren or night elves are that versed in the type of magic that malygos was the aspect of despite some of them living a long time. Maybe it's Medivh or Aegwynn =x

Edit: oh oh or maybe Jaina :O

If that's true, I'm almost positive that the new Aspect of Magic will be Med'an, Garona's son from the comic series.

Well, we don't know the father of the child yet, but it would be really surprising if a Child became an aspect. I would like to see Khadgar take that post up, he has good knowledge of the Arcane, and I see him as a major figure for our future fights with the Burning Legion. So, elevating him to Malygos's post would allow him to play a major role.

Why else tell Med'an's story now other then to introduce him as a major character? And, with Malygos biting it, this seems to be that opportunity.

Metzen @ New York Comic Con 2009 - Scrolls of Lore Forums is the thread, the revelation that there is a new aspect of magic is first post on page 9. Medievaldragon is a very highly respected member of the blizzplanet and scrollsoflore community and is often trusted with early release docs for the WoW Comics etc.

I don't think it is Med'an simply because he's thought to be the new guardian of tirisfal although I suppose he could end up with both roles considering the guardian of tirisfal is imparted a great deal of magic and the theory at the moment (from that very same thread) is that Medivh passed his power on to the child (which the theory states is his) prior to his death, and subsequent resurrection by his mother (who I found out is living in theramore!) to play the part of prophet for wc3.

Edit: hate to post a bunch of stuff in short succession so just going to add thoughts to this post.

I suppose it makes sense for the relatively inexperienced, but incredibly powerful Med'an to take the role of unlikely savior of the universe like in many other fantasy series - most recognisably Star Wars where Luke ends up being one of the most powerful Jedi ever to exist after being fathered by someone who was also incredibly powerful but ended up being corrupted!

Engaging storytelling would involve your character becoming the new aspect but that's probably too hard to do in an MMO.

Are you sure that's right? I though the two 'possibilities' both turned out to be unsubstantiated by official lore.

I believe cycle of hatred is where her most recent appearance is although I'm not 100% sure her final location being theramore is confirmed in it. People on scrolls of lore seemed somewhat convinced that she is the npc known as Pained that exists ingame.

Brief theory posted by someone about it on the wowhead page on Pained, Pained - NPC - World of Warcraft

You guys really really really need to read the comics. :P

Aegwynn lives in Theramore under the guise of a human. Long white hair, really pretty, not nearly as powerful as she used to be. She's helped Valeera out a time or two.

Med'an isn't a child or infant, he's not that much younger then Thrall, and Thrall took over the Horde when he was 18.

What is the most important thing to you? Won't you grant me the pleasure of taking it away.

It does make sence that the old gods want the dragons gone. The dragon aspects have received their power from the titans themselves and the Old Gods are trying to undo everything the titans have done. For them to try to weaken the aspects by making them fight eachother is a very logic step. With the aspects out of the way the titans lose alot of their influence on the world. It has also been a very effective plan so far. Deathwing wants all aspects dead. Malygos went crazy and has now been killed off and Ysera is stuck in the Emerald Dream and possibly corrupted. Nozdormu has most likely gone missing due to Old God influence as well which only leaves Alexstraza to defend against a possible Old God attempt to get rid of all titan related things once and for all.

Nobody thinks that it is possible that Anveena may return as the new aspect of magic given her power and connection to the Blue? I know she kind of snuffed it in NotD but it wouldn't be the first time a powerful magic entity had returned.

Keep an eye out on BlizzPlanet.com - Everything Blizzard Entertainment! over the next day or two, that's where the Metzen Q&A is gonna show up first I believe.

To introduce a new Guardian of Trisfal in preparation for a future Burning Legion based expansion. This is more evident by the fact that Meryl (Meryl Felstorm - WoWWiki - Your guide to the World of Warcraft) is Med'an's Foster Father.
