Here are a few rather large spoilers from the sound files.

* Baron Rivendare is the 4th horseman.

* Malygos' Fate:

Alexstrasza voiceovers in the MPQ

'I did what I had to brother you gave me no alternative.'

'And so ends the Nexus war.'

'This resolution pains me deeply, but the destruction, the monumental loss of life had to end. Regardless of Malygos recent transgressions I will mourn his loss. He was once a guardian, a protector. This day one of the worlds mightiest has fallen.'

'The Red Dragonflight will take on the burden of mending the devastation wrought on Azeroth. Return home to your people and rest. Tomorrow will bring you new challenges and you must be ready to face them....life....goes on.'

Malygos

'UNTHINKABLE the mortals will destroy....everything....my sister what have you-'

Ouch... not the ending I was expecting honestly... I assumed there would be the typical loophole allowing the death to not be 'real' or at least some kind of redemption of his sanity.

A massive event regarding lore that players can get involved in, brings both good and bad sides to it actually happening but.. gosh that's really stumped me.

It was fairly obvious that Alexstrasza & the reds would be involved in the fight some how.. taking on an aspect in their own domain unaided would of been rather a large stretch :P

Well that sucks. I wasn't hoping for them to kill off Malygos either. I suppose, with the idea that the Aspect is really only a title / mantle bearer, it's always possible to appoint another to the task, so as long as there is a FLIGHT, it's not an issue in terms of magic, but still... an aspect?

I had imagined that there'd be some way to redeem ourselves, or I had hoped for a cross battle between Blue Dragonflight and Undead or Old God servants, in which we proved our worth to Malygos as wielders of magic that helped save his flight, rather than see it killed off again.

Well, its a rather interesting development.

On one hand, it would have been nice to have been able to set Malygos straight. But, therein lies the sad truth, because both sides are technically 'right'. Mortals HAVE misused magic and have brought the Burning Legion to Azeroth twice and have had other wonderful calamities occur because of us. But, we have also fought off the Legion and have tried to right many of the wrongs that have been done.

The trouble now is, even if everyone is denied magic, the Lich King and the undead win, because he can still use his plague and eventually win due to attrition. Whereas we NEED our magic users to prevail against him.

In the end, I guess this is probably the only way to conflict could have ended. Malygos is not insane, he would never back down, even if Alextrasa and Kalecgos scream in his face about how wrong he is, and there is no concievable way to imprison or capture Malygos, so what choice are we left with? At least it sounds like it takes the aid of the Red Dragonflight to take him down.

Maybe if Kalecgos takes over for him, that will help mend the wounds from all this.

An interesting note about Yogg-Saron is that his influence seems to have spread to the Halls of Lightning. One of the boss's sound files has an intro speech in which he states, "My master has shown me the future and you have no place in it. Azeroth will be reborn in darkness. Yogg-Saron shall be released. The Pantheon shall fall."

In addition, most of the bosses in Ahn'kahet make reference to worshiping Yogg-Saron, which makes me think that they're living Nerubians rather than ones in service to the Lich King.

So I listened over the sound files and gleaned some things:

- I really like Malygos' VA. It'll be a 3-phase fight apparently, with the Red Dragons helping you out in the 3rd part.
- Sartheron (spelling?), the boss of the black CoA instance, will summon 3 adds at various points to help him. They appear to be black dragons as well.

There's also a lot of titan lore from the Brann Bronzebeard stuff. In the old builds they just have placeholder text, but from what I gather it explains that the Old Gods were imprisoned rather than killed because they were somehow necessary for Azeroth's existence. However, they're responsible for the "curse of the flesh" which created Vykrul, Dwarves, etc. If I understand correctly, the lore says that the Earth and Storm giants literally are titans. Also, Loken (formerly known as Kronus, the leader of the runed iron dwarves), is somehow working for Yogg-Saron and against the Titans, I think it's implied that he's the one that ended the Titans' dominance of Azeroth (presumably after the Pantheon left?) Which makes me wonder what exactly will be in the Ulduar raid, Loken makes a reference to trying to revive some "Father", but if his true master is an Old God.. who knows.

Kinda confusing, and I'm sure that some of this interpretation is wrong, but I'm sure people will encounter these things ingame and clarify them soon.

Just for fun, Malygos's raid speech for those who care enough to read my text but not quite enough to actually dig through the MPQ themselves (possibly a very small group):

Alexstraza: "Champions! Malygos is tapping into the arcane energies he has harvested from Azeroth's leylines! Alone you would surely be overwhelmed. My children, blessed with my power, shall aid you in your fight."

Intro pt 1: "Lesser beings intruding HERE? A shame that your excess courage does not compensate for your stupidity!"
Intro pt 2: "None but the blue dragonflight are welcome here! Perhaps this is the work of Alexstraza? Well then, she has sent you to your deaths."
Intro pt 3: "What could you hope to accomplish? To storm brazenly into my domain, to employ magic? Against ME?" (hearty laugh)
Intro pt 4: "I am without limits here. The rules of your cherished reality do not apply. In this realm, I am in control."
Intro pt 5: "I give you one chance: pledge fealty to me, and perhaps I will not slaughter you for your insolence."

Phase 1: "My patience has reached its limit. I will be rid of you!"
End of Phase 1: "I had hoped to end your lives quickly, but you have proven more... resilient than I anticipated. Nonetheless, your efforts are in vain. It is you reckless, careless mortals who are to blame for this war! I do what I must, and if it means your... extinction... then so be it!"
Phase 2: "Few have experienced the pain I will now inflict upon you."
End Phase 2: "Enough! If you intend to reclaim Azeroth's magic, then you shall have it!"
Intro Phase 3: "Now your benefactors make their appearance, but they are too late. The powers contained here are sufficient to destroy the world TEN TIMES OVER! What do you think they will do to YOU?"
Phase 3: "Submit!"

'Big Attack Phase 3' (probably a special): "The powers at work here exceed anything you could possibly imagine!"
Anti-Magic Shell (probably a special): "I will teach you ignorant children just how little you know of magic."
Breath: "You will not succeed while I draw breath!"
'Generic Spell 1:' "Still standing? Not for long."
'Generic Spell 2:' "Your cause is lost!"
'Generic Spell 3:' "Your fragile mind will be shattered!"
High Damage Mode: "I am unstoppable!"
'Magic Blast:' "Watch helplessly as your hopes are swept away!"

Kills a player, phase 1: "Your stupidity has finally caught up with you!"
Kills a player, phase 1: "More artifacts to confiscate."
Kills a player, phase 1: (laughter) "How very... naive."
Kills a player, phase 2: "Your energy will be put to good use."
Kills a player, phase 2: "I am the Spellweaver! My power is infinite!"
Kills a player, phase 2: "Your spirit will linger here forever!"
Kills a player, phase 3: "Alexstraza! Another of your brood falls!"
Kills a player, phase 3: "Little more than gnats."
Kills a player, phase 3: "Your red allies will share your fate."
Death: "Unthinkable! The mortals will destroy... everything! My sister, what have you..."

Alexstraza speech: "I did what I had to, brother. You gave me no alternative."
continues: "And so ends the Nexus War."
continues: "This resolution pains me deeply, but the destruction, the monumental loss of life had to end. Regardless of Malygos's recent transgressions, I will mourn his loss. He was once a guardian, a protector. This day, one of the world's mightiest has fallen."
continues: "The red dragonflight will take on the burden of mending the devastation wrought on Azeroth. Return home to your people and rest. Tomorrow will bring you new challenges and you must be ready to face them. Life... goes on."

I think I got everything right except maybe some punctuation. Seems like a pretty epic fight.

However, they're responsible for the "curse of the flesh" which created Vykrul, Dwarves,
Is this the biggest twist of irony we've seen in WoW's story so far? We are the result of Old Gods tampering with Titan creations. We are considered 'the curse' for those creations. Our bodies (flesh) are the reminder of the evil that is prisoned beneath the world - for all to see.

Ive always wondered about two scenarios: "What if the titans were bad guys" or "What if the titans wanted to destroy us when they came back to Azeroth?". Now they have a pretty understandable reason to fit the latter role.

Yea the bit of questing I was able to do in Storm Peaks before it was closed really gave me a idea of how epic Blizzard is making the lore here for the Titans, Old Gods and etc.

Yea, reading over the full transcript and the "development" of the Old Gods, maybe Lavos as a raid boss isn't so impossible after all.. :P they seem kinda similar. I always thought that was an odd point, that apparently the Old Gods were just on Azeroth forever and could challenge the Titans.

[Edit]

Also, playing through Zul'Drak and Sholazar now that the level cap has been raised, I noted that the Gluth model gets reused after all for one mob... and also I think that the lore is that Flesh Giants (Grobbulus) and Flesh Titans (Thaddius) are made from dead Storm Giants.

Something on that thread is wrong. The poster seems to believe that the Old Gods being extra-Azeroth in origin somehow precludes the Lovecraftian stuff.

The Cthulhu mythos is rather explicitly extraterrestial, as well as cosmic in scale. Cthulhu flew to Earth with those wings, after all.

It seems implied now that the major Titan storc arc will culminate in a war between us and the Titans upon their revisitation. They will want to re-order Azeroth and purge their creations who have degenerated with the curse (aka us) and we will have to fight them for our survival. I doubt this is going to happen just in WOTLK, just the scene being set.

What about the Lich King, reanimating Malygos for a raid boss in the final encounter? Any chances of that happening?
