Check out the
Help Zone, too. (The link is in the top header.) The User Agreement and the Privacy Policy spell out exactly what we collect and what we do not to collect. The flow chart linked above is good, too, for a visual. In short, we do not sell individual data. Any gameplay data we collect (namely, the game you're playing and for how long) is aggregated with everyone else's gameplay data. It won't have your name or username attached.
But otherwise, you've got the right idea about how we support the service, with one addition. On top of serving targeted ads when you visit our website and aggregating gameplay data for the industry, we also accept product placement deals from companies who want their products to appear on the homepage or as a featured item. For example, right now we are featuring a
prize drawing for a gaming rig in conjunction with iBuyPower.
On top of all that, we are in the process of becoming ESRB compliant. We think getting a third-party seal of approval is important to address these concerns... it just takes some time to go through the application process.
I'm trying to check the thread as often as I can, but since I'm out of the office this week (for the Penny Arcade Expo), if you have any immediate concerns, feel free to e-mail webmaster at jact dot com, or PM me or email me at community at jact dot com, and I'll get back to all questions as soon as I can.
