EU Patches are always on Wednesday, one day behind the US.
I think he just used a somewhat confusing date.

Bind on Account
Will the "Bind on Account" feature be part of 3.02 or is that not enabled until Wrath? Will current Badge of Justices become Bind on Account or will they stay Soulbound?

Bind on account items all require the level 80 Badges. Badges of Justice remain soulbound, the only change is that they won't be physical items any longer, they'll only exist in your currency tab.
That is excepting pets from Collector's Editions and a few other items, which will become account bound in 3.0.

The only items that will be Bind on Account as of 3.0 will be the Blizzcon and Collector's Edition rewards, all of the BoA Heirloom items are LK only.

It's been awhile since a note-worthy patch, so I was wondering just to refresh my god awful memory, you can begin downloading the patch as soon as the servers go down for maintenance?

From memory the patch is available about an hour or so after the servers go down - attempting to log in will start the download. At least that's happened in a few patches.
I'm wondering if there are likely to be standalone versions of the patch - specifically something I can download at another location (work) to avoid going over my download cap... in the past I've seen some standalone patches (2.30 is one of them) however they only seem to crop up weeks or months later. Can anybody suggest a source for a standalone 3.02 patch, or a means of downloading the patch that doesn't require the game to be installed on the PC that is downloading the patch?

All you would need is the downloader to accomplish this. It's basically a standalone bittorrent client so you could run that .exe once it's available. I would guess that whatever the background downloader didn't get recently (I have a 841MB and 325MB file waiting) should be fairly small. I do appreciate that some people are on metered internet plans so I can see where you are coming from.
I also remember that in previous large patches WowWiki had links to full patches on various sites during patch day. Of course this is very hit and miss but you might be able to get something to work.

Thanks for the response. Was just wondering to see if it was worth staying up into the wee hours of the morning to avoid the download traffic that would inevitably occur if I were to wait to download sometime in the afternoon.

WoW Insider has links to mirrors of the pre-patch files and says they will have mirrors of the final patch tomorrow: Mirrors to get you caught up with patch 3.0.2 [UPDATED] - WOW Insider. If you start the Blizzard downloader, then quit it, put the files they provide in the right places, and start it up again, the Blizzard downloader that your WoW downloaded will verify that the files they provide are accurate (no viruses). Disclaimer: If you fail to follow my instructions correctly and get a virus don't come crying to me. I am not affiliated with WoW Insider in any way except as a reader.

The benefit of Blizzard's "Downloader" utilising a bit torrent system is there is really issue like this - since the more users that are downloading it, the more users will also be uploading it. While initially there will be the issue of limited number of hosts and large number of clients, as soon as a section of the file is downloaded, that section of file is then available for upload from that users computer so this should be alleviated fairly quickly.

Should be noted that though Blizzard uses bit torrent tech, some of us get really crap speeds from their downloader. I've been riding at 3% capacity for this entire 1.57gb download. Luckily I started early. If I needed it in a hurry, I'd download from wowikki or wowinsider and check it with downloader like someone said earlier.

It's now an hybrid client. Bittorrent, plus an http fallback which activates if you don't seem to get data from the torrent clients.
There are .torrent extractors for the PC exe, and you can even simply open the download.torrent file from the Mac version in the resource directory, if you dislike the blizzard torrent lack of customisation and hideous "teardown and reconnect" policy to client connections.

The downloader should put a plain .torrent file in your Cache sub-folder called BackgroundDownload.torrent, so you don't even need an extractor.

I'm not sure if the US servers are up yet but when they are could someone with over 200 Badges of Justice post and say if they lost any please. When we transfered our characters over to beta, we were immediately scaled back to what seemed like an arbitrary limit of 200 in the new currency tab. It obviously wasn't a big deal then but if we go into live and lose some it's not going to be too pleasant. I personally haven't seen this particular issue discussed anywhere so would like to be sure before EU gets the patch.

I recently transferred over my character with over 200 badges to beta for a second time. Recently being last week, and was pleased to see that I still had all of them. So it is fixed.

This may be related to a bug report I saw being filed in the PTR forums a few builds back. Apparently some guy had lost an entire stack of WSG tokens because he had 2 in his backpack and 98 in his bank, but the currency conversion process only picked up on the 2 in the backpack and made the rest go poof.
Since BOJs are a similar type of token, I would expect that the bug might extend to them, but then I don't know if it was fixed either.

It wasn't just rumours - Tigole confirmed it here on the official forums, four weeks ago. However, I can find no other mention of it. The only other thing I can find is this post from a month ago on WoWInsider, suggesting a 30% reduction in XP from 60-70, 20% increase to mob XP, with no changes for completing quests.

While I'm at it, this info might help one or two folks :
The following patches have been downloading for some time, EU side, ahead of the patch :
WoW-2.4.3-to-3.0.1-TBC with one file inside (Installer Tome 2.mpq 992 Mb) and,
WoW-3.0.1-to-3.0.2-Update with two files inside (wow-partial-1.MPQ and wow-partial-2.mpq 548 Mb and 70.4 Mb respectively)
They've defaulted to a new Updates folder at :
XP: C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Updates
Vista: C:\Users\Public\Documents\Blizzard Entertainment\World of Warcraft\Updates
Why am I bothering typing all this stuff ? Blizz made a mistake and seeded some MAC files to Windows users which causes the 70.4 Mb file to screw the download up. This isn't affecting everyone EU side and may not affect anyone US side. If you get this problem it will stick at 95% download. Its pretty quick and easy to fix.
Lengthy post here explaining the problem and how to fix it.

Can anyone confirm this one? I've ended up with two level 62 characters due to RaF, so any leveling improvements would be great.

What more do you need? A post on the official forums from Tigole confirmed it. Servers won't be up for a while yet for anyone to actually log in, and by then you can do it too.

I meant if change was visible on PTR. Before TBC people found out that experience to level to 61 was double of what it was on live servers back then. I guess, I should have made it clearer what I was asking.

For the toon I copied to Beta a while back, the same thing happened--capped at 200 badges. For the one I transferred to the PTR more recently, all of my badges were converted. I think they fixed it.
