I think raid DPS will be higher. Not only will we have access to new talents that in many cases increase dps quite a bit but also the consolidation of raid utility. Raidwide totems and two bloodlust per group for fights lasting over five minutes should make Brutallus easier. Perhaps to the extent that you can get one extra healer in.
Some classes may be slightly screwed. Warlocks having to switch to fire and having a new lifetap that will scale with spirit is one thing that could prove troublesome. I read somewhere that they might re-itemize gear so it is possible some more spirit will find its way onto warlock T6.
One area that Blizzard have to keep an eye on is threat generation. From what I can understand it has not been a problem on beta, but you never know how it will turn out with lvl 70 gear.

What you're failing to take into account, however, is stuff like: Blood Frenzy is going down to 2%, CoR is no longer going to stack with Faerie Fire, Expose Weakness will only apply to the Hunter that procced it, Battle Shout and Blessing of Might no longer stack .. etc. It's these raid level changes that are going to have the bigger impact on rDPS as opposed to personal level DPS increases.
Blizzard themselves have estimated that there will be a net drop in DPS specifically in regards to melee.

All of the level 70 Pally/Warrior tanking gear has been re-itemised with heaps of strength in order to comply with new talents and ability scaling. Everything from T4, T6, "offset T6" to badge gear. Warrior threat is going to go through the roof.

Not that I've seen officially, but seeing as how the Amani War Bear will no longer be attainable in this patch, it stands to reason that this will be the patch that disables getting those titles as well.

They're removing the bear mount in 3.x because new talents and mechanics would make it trivial, so I assume these titles would also be no longer obtainable for the same reason.

Last I heard, the titles would no longer be available after level 70. (Different from the Bear Mount)

Actually, that is not quite right. To quote blizz on this, "We haven't finished tuning numbers yet. If cat dps is low, we'll fix it before Lich King goes live. We haven't focused on that yet because we are still working on talent trees and bugs. But you're starting to see some of it. One thing I forgot to mention is that the raid buff overhaul was a net dps loss to melee classes. We expected that would happen, but we have not yet adjusted their dps accordingly. That might not be all cats need, but I wanted to mention it before I forgot. "
WoW Forums -> To Devs: An Open Letter
That means it is currently a melee dps nerf in beta, but they do not intend it to stay that way. Now, some of the numbers I have seen off rogues post the last talent revamp are just ... sick. I could guess they are still heavily tweaking the numbers, and do not get too hung up over what today's OP class is in beta.

I hope they won't neglect PvP balancing. I never enjoyed 2.0 which left some classes rather overpowered for a month and mostly ruined battlegrounds for me.

It also caused some unneeded nerfs. I remember some classes being clearly OP cause they had abilities on 60 that where clearly meant for level 70. Hunters could literaly 2 shot people in 2.0 but got nerfed during TBC before we even got 70 and ended up in a very weak state(which got fixed later by other patches)
Ruined battlegrounds might happen, but ruined Arena is going to be even more dramatic.

From the S4 brutal gladiator mount that was seen in WotLK beta files I would guess that 3.x is going to signify the end of S4 as far as titles and mounts go and will initiate a transition season, people can still play and get gear but thats it. Its also the most logical thing to do.

Looks like a gift from the developers to give more people the opportunity to kill some bosses in Sunwell before the AddOn hits.

* Potion sickness

* Drastically revised buff/debuff system
* New talent trees
* Glyphs from Inscriptions
* Re-itemized paladin and warrior tanking gear (lose some agility and dodge, gain some strength for threat)
I think it's a foregone conclusion that people will be farming up Inscription materials well in advance since we know this will be available in 3.0.2, and will not require the expansion - there'll be Inscription trainers in the usual cities, including a master Inscription trainer in HFP.
Where I worry about TBC raids becoming difficult would be:
Kaz'rogal - mana-drain debuff on all classes
Any long fights where healers need to chug potions
Any fights where healers currently spam downranked heals
Other situations I missed? What kind of coping strategies can we use?

I´ve got a druid in the beta and when I specced resto (usually feral) at lvl 72 I could hardly even spend the mana as fast as I regenerated it let alone using potions. I don´t think I ever dipped below 90% healing a group in the Nexus. Also the new lvl 80 resto talent felt very, very powerful. So unless other classes differ a lot or Blizzard changes nerfs regeneration before it hits the live servers I can basically turn of my mana bar display.
Concerning DPS at least from a Hunters perspective I anticipate a rather big overall gain with the way the autoshot mechanics changed and buffs affecting me that don´t do right now.

Basically if you loose 4% dps gain from raid buff stacking for dps classes but each gain 10% dps from just new mechanics its a net gain. If survival is also increases the only question is what happens to threat (as mentioned earlier) with the new talents. With reitemization of tier and off pieces I doubt threat will be an issue.

I doubt Blizzard will spend a lot of time balancing for level 70, but the time on the PTR should provide them with enough data to keep it within reason. There's a lot of stuff that will have an unpredictable effect. What I always called "6th man syndrome," which was where you were the one guy who didn't get to be in the main group will go away. Where previously it took 5 shaman to give the entire raid one heroism per encounter, now it takes 2 shaman to give the entire raid 2 heroisms per encounter over 5 minutes. We'll also probably see a "free" increase of over 500 dps per tank.
Some fights strike me as becoming much easier. Tanks with 1200 block value and shield wall every attempt makes RoS phase 1 simple. AoE hots, Beacon of Light, more classes with aoe heals and hots makes Bloodboid much easier. Shaman being able to decurse makes Archimonde easier. Is tremor totem raid wide now? If so, Archimonde will almost be a joke. If Beacon of Light crosses the realms then you have a good backup for Kalecgos. And those are just the things that pop to mind quickly, I'm sure people will figure out good ways to take advantage of skills that weren't in existence during the development of the BC encounters.
If Sunwell Radiance is gone they have to have come up with something to counter 100% avoidance rogues, any word on what it is?

Is there any confirmation how 3.0 will affect arena? So far i only read that it will include the two new arenas to play in. I assumed that wotlk was going to reset your points/ratings and disable arenas apart from skirmishes (which you can only join as L70). If they roll this in with the 3.0 patch we will possibly have up to two months without arena :/

They've said that you'll lose your arena points when you level to 71, not just when wotlk releases.

All classes should have the new agility->dodge conversions in place as well, meaning 100% avoidance rogue is a thing of the past.

Also I doubt this would matter anyways as rogues lack a taunt, so Kalecgos/Brutallus couldn't be done anyways, Void Sentinels on M'uru would kill the rogue with a Void Blast + Shadow Pulse + M'uru zaping em. I think the only fight the 100% avoidance tank could have worked on in sunwell was Felmyst, but even that's a stretch due to threat issues.

At the same time, they are talking about how they want mana regen to be an important mechanic for casters. Do you think it's possible that the mana regen changes will result in reduced caster DPS such that melee dps will be on par?
