Did anyone try visiting the eastern plaguelands to find scourge npc's that possibly give quests? Allthough frankly the eastern plaguelands are quite a long walk and it would make more sense if the npcs would hide in places close to the cities that have some sort of scourge lore.
Hogger maybe?

I took the plague to Shattrath this morning on Trollbane (EU) just to find out I couldn't attack any players (of any faction) as a zombie since it is a sanctuary. Maybe that was obvious but I actually thought it would work. Though I did manage to infect people and some NPC:s by using Retch. The only NPC:s that were hostile while I was a zombie was the Shattrath Peace Keepers. All other mobs were neutral and did not attack me even if I threw Retch at them.
I had to go to work shortly after so I didn't have time to wait and see how far the plague spread and to what extent but it did spread to a few more NPC:s before I logged off.

I went to Stratholme in the hope that one of the bosses would talk to me but apparently you can't open doors as a zombie. I suppose you could bring someone along to open the doors though. I ended up attacking the scarlet side but again, a door stopped me in my wily ways.
Seems that elites spawn two zombies from time to time though.

If you can find numerous, fast-respawning humanoids, it's possible to make self-sustaining zombie colonies. For example, the murlocs in the naga area of Quel'Danas spend about half their lives zombified ever since the event got underway.

This is Putress' plague no? Has anyone tried to zombie talk to him, could also imagine the irony if he was susceptible to the plague, put Varimathras in this boat as well.
|
No, I'm pretty sure this is Arthas's plague. Putress:

as far as I know, will come in later in the storyline to find a "cure" for the plague, and successfully do so- when in actual fact he's working on developing his own plague, launched at the time of the Wrath Gate post-WotLK launch.

Yer I think Putress' plague is to destroy everything, both living and dead. Though he isn't in the game yet as far as I know.
Arthas is more suited to having legions of zombies wandering about. It also leads on nicely to the sacking of Orgrimarr as referenced by Hellscream Junior in Borean Tundra. The zombie mechanic would even let alliance players participate in it, or maybe they get their own city being attacked.
|
I love the fact that CMs are hinting that the disease will become resistant to cleansing as it grows in strength.

Just did a quick run at Crossroads and Ratchet. I started alone and resulted in about 50 players all running as zombies. Alliance and Horde can communicate while being a zombie, also trading is possible. I will get a few screenshots of it showing the discussion and so forth.
Zombie army can use the run speed buff to have it constantly up and the goo from 20 zombies heals around 2-3k per second so even a bigger opponent isn't problemous.
ImageShack - Hosting :: zombies1un1.jpg - Crossroads, showing conversation between alliance and horde in [Zombie]
ImageShack - Hosting :: zombes2uu2.jpg - Crossroads flightmaster was an easy target
ImageShack - Hosting :: zombies3mb0.jpg - Ratchet Flightmaster got mutilated
All in all I think we had 50 players and around 200-300 minion zombies at best.

Do minion zombies have a time limit? That was something I was unable to determine last night.

Doesn't seem so, but the health decay seems to be close to a static number and the level 35/40 guards don't have alot of health. We kept an NPC zombie alive for 3 minutes by chaining the green fog but when we stopped it, the zombie fell in about 30 seconds.

The zombie debuff can be taken into instances, but crossing through an instance portal after already becoming a zombie disconnected me, when i logged back in I was in the graveyard, similar to trying to take a Shat portal as a zombie.
I went to SM Library with the debuff, turned into a zombie, and proceeded to wreck havoc. I had an army of a good 30 zombies with me by the time I reached Arcanist Doan (who promptly AoE'd my entire army down).

On my shaman (Moonrunner server) I was getting a bunch of resists. I got the disease by running through Goldshire, then tried Cure Disease on myself. It took almost half my mana bar to finally get the disease off (Granted my shaman is enhance spec with, on average, blue gear) but that is just a ridiculous failure rate.

The disease is already extremely difficult to remove as a player character, I wonder if the CMs are implying that the Argent Healers will slowly become ineffective themselves.
If so, we could easily lose whole cities to the plague, which is probably the conclusion that Blizzard wants us to figure out so they can unveil the "destroyed" Orgrimmar.

A few of my friends and I tried to go to Org. as zombies and all disconnected, and when we reconnected we were all dead. But we found out that killing the Argent Healer by the flight plan in Shatt. is fun but lags the hell out of you because when the Argent Healer explodes one of the people you are attempting this with it usually hits the Flight Plan guy triggering all of his Griffins and Wyvern to come out and stack on top of him. I went from 60 FPS to 3 FPS in no time.

You will get disconnected every time you port somewhere : zeppelins, Shat ports, instances, etc...
I got this bug all night long was able to reconnect at my destination every time, never ended up in a graveyard.
I dont think it was mentionned in the thread, but you're able to take opposite factions' ports in Shat when in zombie form, lots of fun doing this (and long corpse-run as well).
You are also able to talk with players from other faction in /s mode when zombified (yes , even on Pvp servers).

Regarding the faction leader immunity, we actually successfully managed to infect Vol'jin a few hours ago on Neptulon-EU, so I'm not sure if only some of them are immune, or if they're merely extremely resistant and we just got lucky. Someone on the official forums reported that Thrall displayed an 'Immune' message when they tried to infect him, which lends credence to the idea that only some of them are immune. But nevertheless, it's definitely possible to infect Vol'jin, so it might be true of some of the other leaders too. Possibly worth having a go at the gnome king?

This could possibly have to do with the fact that the troll and gnome leaders are not counted as requirements for the For The Horde!/ For The Alliance! achievements. Either Blizz does not consider these 2 NPCs to be "true" faction leaders, or they want to avoid an easy way to exploit the system in order to gain those achievements.
EDIT: Although another observation that I've made is that turning a boss into a zombie does not give you kill credit as far as Achievements go, at least not in the case of my SM run detailed above.

Actually this is only half true. I went last night into Undead Strat and turned into a zombie after the first two gates were opened. None of the npcs talk to you, but for some reason you are allowed to open the last gates before the Aboms, and the two doors leading to Baron. You can even open the cage of the victim of the 45 min Baron run. We turned her into a zombie. Unfortunately, we still couldn't talk with any NPCs.

You can certainly take the debuffs into instances. I was in a zombie raid in Westfall and after being beaten off by a group of Paladins we decided to go take Moonbook instead and a few of us wandered into Deadmines. We got DC entering the instance portal but after reconnecting we were fine to zombify everything up to the room before Sneed. However, as a zombie, we could not interact with the door to his room so we couldn't go any further though I suppose if we had an alive person with us there would have been no reason we could not have kept going.

Better yet. Infect an alt. Log off alt. Wait for Wrath. Level main to 80. Log on alt. Spread disease to friend. Have friend disease main. Go to CoT: Cleansing of Stratholme. Infect Arthas...
I'm curious if they'll cleanse it from characters on login, eventually. Otherwise I expect a fair number of people to sit on infected alts and bring them out for special occasions to start the plague again. Shouldn't be too hard to re-infect yourself and log back off to repeat later.
