Well, it seems if you're on a high pop server you'll have barely any time to defeat the invasions. I went from Winterspring on a bird and it was over as I got there and sure enough the Tanaris one ended before I got there too.
Hopefully they'll increase these attacks or something.

Pretty much this strategy, although we cleared through Attuman, went upstairs along the stairways behind Attuman, then went through the passage to his room. Then we kited the boss back through the cleared area. Not difficult at all, and the pet is a nice touch, but really pretty boring.
Just make sure your DPS knows to stop when the red linking beam occurs. It's a Soul Link type of action, and your DPS will end up killing their own raid members if they're not careful.

For those that have killed the boss, is the door now open as soon as you get in the instance? Someone else killed the boss in ours, and he was not there. After a soft reset, the blood soaked door is locked, and I dont know how to open it. Any ideas?

Have you tried getting a zombie to open it? All the weirdness with things being clickable by zombies must have some purpose.

Had no trouble opening the door and killing the boss in an already cleared instance.
Also in this spoiler full rundown on skills and/or tactics:

|
Prince Tenris Mirkblood
Health: 380,000
Abilities:
Blood Mirror - Tenris turns into a random group member for 15 seconds, any damage he takes during this time is also taken by the group member.
Summon Sanguine Spirit - Summons a number of sanguine spirits. Sanguine spirits slowly move towards a raid member and explode for 7k damage, and I believe heal Tenris in the process if they do reach you.
Blood Swoop - Applies a bleed to a random raid member. Does 1075 damage every 3 seconds.
Tactics:
The tactics are fairly basic. When Tenris uses Blood Mirror stop attacking. Blood Swoop needs to be simply outhealed and isn't threatening.
The Sanguine Spirits are the most complicated part of the encounter. However, the area Tenris is found in is perfectly shaped for avoiding them without having to constantly move him. The area he's in is ring shaped, if you've cleared out all the mobs before hand, you can basically just kite him from room to room every time he summons Sanguine Spirits.
That's really all there is to it, enjoy your bats and guitar!

So.. I am slightly confused about this boss and regular raid lockouts. Is he a regular Karazhan boss that can only be killed once a week, or can you farm him safely like other event bosses? In other words, are you basically screwed for this week if you already did a quick Kara before all this went live?

You can do it in a cleared instance, but it appears you only get 1 shot at him per raid id per week.

Some more information on the Monster Slayer's Kit. It uses one of four different weapons when used.
Monster Slayer's Axe - Travels in an arc towards your target dealing somewhere between 500 to 750 physical damage.
Monster Slayer's Dagger - Travels in a straight line towards your target, dealing somewhere between 500 to 750 physical damage.
Monster Slayer's Holy Water - Throws a small bottle of holy water, dealing 250 to 375 Holy damage to your target and any other targets in a (very small) radius around it. Looks watersplashy, not blue fiery.
Monster Slayer's Symbol - Throws a holy symbol at your target which magically returns to you after striking. Deal 500 to 750 holy damage.
All in all, a nice Castlevania reference. It's also a nice replacement for [Linken's Boomerang] if you lack other ways of pulling at range. As with Linken's Boomerang it can't be used in melee range, so it's use is limited to pulling really.

He is a boss like any other in the sense that he only spawns one time per instance. If you have cleared kara before this event you can still enter the cleared instance and kill Mirkblood.
To add some info: Mirkblood is not hard in any sense. Did it 6 people with decent gear. You can properly 2/3 man, just takes time.
It is still uncertain i believe if he will remain a boss to be killed or if it is only during this plagued/event time?

To clarify, you can kill him once per week, just like any other raid boss. "1 shot at him per week" makes it sound like he despawns if you wipe, which is not true.

The rather lackluster loot table and Argent Dawn quest leading to him suggests that he will be gone when the event is over.

The Necropolis in Tanaris has been bugged. I'm pretty sure this happened in the original Naxx event as well.

Praytell, with the expansion coming out in less than three weeks... how is vanity stuff not the only thing he could drop that would be worthwhile? I think it's a genius move on Blizzard's part, it means he is relevant.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't there new bosses added to undead type instances during the original scourge invasion? I remember there being one in SM graveyard and Scholomance as well as a few others. Are these back as well?

Fighting for Shadow of Doom tags just now, it occured to me how perfect these Necrotic Shard locations would've been for WAR-style 'public quests', or at least a reward system that does not result in "more people = less fun".
I suppose the easiest way to do it currently would be an Araj/Gronn miniboss style object that everyone can loot after a kill. Maybe on destruction of the shard, a suitably powerful miniboss (3/4/5-mannable but with high HP) would need be killed, resulting in a lootable Shard Remnants for everyone to take a piece off. But it doesn't actually work that way, so forgive my rambling late night thoughts.

There was a new lich boss added to Stratholme (Balzaphon) during the last invasion, and I can confirm that he is back for this one. Have not checked for the others, but I don't see any reason why they wouldn't be back too.
EDIT: Just checked for the graveyard boss (Scorn), confirmed that he appears too after the final boss is killed.

One interesting drop some of my group got out at one of the Necropoli sites is a Haunting Momento. It looks like a necklace that has an on use to throw at some one. While you have it in your possession a shade follows you. It is unique so if you have one no one can throw you one and you can't get another.

In addition to the already-mentioned 50% run speed debuff, the skeleton mobs throw bones when you're at range - they hit for about 400 on plate. Not enough to mess with a tank gathering them all up for AOE, enough to make a mage/warlock think twice.
Shadows of Doom seem underwhelming right now - they do very, very little damage. I can easily gather all four and kill them simultaneously without a healer.

You cannot tag the Shadows of Doom. They are tapped for whomever used the 8 runes to break their channeling.

This is not the case. I had one I spawned tagged by another person, and I returned the favour a few minutes later by stealing one of his.

I spawned 3 and walked away from them; I kept them all. However, you can also waste runes on them. 2 people in my group tried for the same one. We both lost the 8 runes.

Anyone know how often the invasions happen? We finished the first wave of invasions on LB but waiting for more to pop up.

Really? I'd be surprised if they changed it. Back when it first came out if you timed it correctly with a 3, 2, 1 countdown you could spawn -multiple- shadows of doom from one cultist. My guild had our entire raid out there doing it and getting everyone 120 shards per group.

I'm not really buying any of his items as "vanity" loot. Even if I could equip an axe, I wouldn't care to play guitar with it.
I do like the whole Zombie event in general though.
