Of note, Fire Leaf can still be used for Lesser Flasks of Resistance. They will be marginally useful for progression raiding, but we all know the "srs bzns" guilds will be rolling their higher stat flasks. Still, people may see a slight value increase on those flasks depending on where they are.
As far as I'm concerned, though, the herb will be useless to Alchemy on patch day.
Yes, I keep lowering my snatch price to the point where it buys me the maximum I feel like doing in a day. I'm also at 15-16g. Sometimes I'll catch a price war and buy like 100 stacks which will cover my tedium tolerance for a week or two.
Unfortunately for me the ore never drops below 20G/stack. Avg is 22g/stack and eternal earth has been soaring as high as 8g/each.
I still buy it out when it drops to 20/21 and 6g/earth. this forces me to put the enchanting dust at a higher price point but it all works out in the end as I still sell tons and tons of gems, dust, shards to more than make up for the extra cost. I'm spending about 1000G to make 1500G.
Making those Dark Jade and shadow crystals into gems and selling them helps alleviate the cost a bit. They don't sell for anything and sometimes i get a good streak of perfect gems that sell for 1g each. They don't sell on the AH so there's no real point.
I've upped my stack of blue gems to 2 20stacks. This will keep me sitting pretty when ulduar comes and people want lots of gems cut.

Ever compute your gold/hr cutting and vendoring these? I suppose you could AFK a lot of this time, provided sufficient bag space, but sometimes I don't have the patience and just vendor the raw gems.
Yesterday someone was selling [Shadow Crystal]x210 for 80g. So cutting and vendoring is a minimum of 105g, a 25g profit. More when you consider perfect cuts. So I bought the things and it took me half an hour to make 35g. Not a good earnings/hr rate.
Is anyone else noticing how [Nobles Deck]s are getting considerably cheaper? On my Realm I've seen a couple go for as little as 4k within the past few days. It seems to me that many players are assuming that there will be better trinkets in Ulduar for them to get. However, I don't yet believe this to be the case.
I haven't checked into the loot lists too thoroughly as of yet, but soon enough we will know whether there is money to be made on these cheap Nobles decks, particularly if they are still going to be the BIS Trinkets for some specs and classes. Thoughts?

I think there will certainly be a few people who don't want to spend as much on these decks as people have in the past with new trinkets coming out soon with Ulduar. The price decline could simply be due to just about everyone who is wealthy enough and cares enough about min/maxing already has the trinket. Let's call those people the "early adopters." Now, the more price-sensitive customers are the only ones left who still have some desire for the trinket, but they're just not willing to pay what the early adopters paid.
As for better trinkets in Ulduar, I haven't looked too closely, but I doubt there will be a replacement for SV Hunters or for melee classes who get >2ap per point of Str. That said, trinkets from Ulduar that are closer in terms of overall DPS to the Greatness decks will certainly shrink the market for a good portion of the player base. For many, it won't be hard to rationalize not spending 8 or even 4k on a trinket when they can get something that's pretty close for "free" in Ulduar.
Ive seen the same thing for nobles decks on my server. People selling them seem much more willing to haggle over price. I got mine for 7.5k G at a time when 8.5K was the min. Now I've seem alot more people selling them lower. For sure this is going to happen, but if the herbs don't come down in price more then what will happen is people will not make as many decks and they will hold value since many of the same people who got decks early will also want to gear up alts.

They will hit a floor in price, herbs will stay static for a long time, the downward grade of cost for instance on herb price through the entire burning crusade for my regular servers was only ~20 gold (ignoring just pre wotlk, and just post BC release).
With Nobles decks being very very profitable a lot of people leveled scribes or started to mass make them. At first it was one thing to make a deck for your self, but for every 1 deck some one made they ended up with 1/3-1/2 of a second deck from my experience. So it became a market with a large profit margin, and as time went on the profit margin shrunk with the price of materials staying at a flat rate. Add in the fact that newer better gear is coming out, price will drop farther.
On top of that, the odd things with the DMF Decks is they can only be created into full fruition once a month. But I suspect that all those sly crafters who have saved up their decks are in for a rude awakening. If you look at the market now in it's current, flooded state; than assume for every person normally selling a card there will be another 1 person selling a card they have been holding or a deck even, then the price of decks will first Shoot up on def ears then rapidly shoot down do to flooding. I'd suspect it will truly be the buyers market and the price of matts will be more than the decks are worth.
It's just something to be cautious of in the next few weeks.
The character linked in your profile appears to be below level 10. This may account for your poor Patchwerk DPS.
I'd be very surprised if the price of decks drop off as much here as people are suggesting.
On my server at least, the price of decks has actually slightly increased in the past week due to higher demand from people looking to get into 'good raiding guilds' in preparation of Ulduar being more challenging than Naxx. That being said EU-Kazzak isn't exactly the norm in terms of raiding population
I know I personally have sold 2 decks for 8.5k each in the past week, and one for 7.5k (typo'd it while putting on AH. Lesson learnt. ). There appear to be a lack of Ace's and Seven's of Nobles on our server in particular, so while there are a lot of cards out there, the supply of complete decks is determined by the availability of those two cards. This has led to a drop in the price of all the other cards on the AH, as there are stacks of them there, but the ace/seven are going for 2k+ each.
I think you'll find this market varies dependant on server population and raiding community.
We have quite a few people in our guild who have so far gotten away with not having the nobles deck with the promise of "I will get it before Ulduar". Not sure exactly how big this market is, how many decks are put together each month, but i suspect that there are quite a few people who have been hoping the price would go down before they get theirs and can no longer wait. Also, we're nearing the limit of when the richer people will start buying it for their alts and offspeccs.
I'm not sure flask prices will vary much. There will be increased demand for them but this will be offset by increased drop rates from herb nodes. I'd assume this affects Frost Lotuses too. Server dependent of course.
Fire Leaves can be milled, they yield the same pigments as the low end herbs.
Just to offer my thoughts on the Nobles deck as well;
1) Like has been said before; Classes like surv hunter, retri pala are not likely to find a better trinket lying around anytime soon
2) I agree 100% that the market is approaching a saturated state, more and more people have farmed and thus got "free mats" (I hate it when they use "free" here, time = money imo...) and are now driving prices downwards.
3) I think, however, that 2) is just part of a cyclic pattern and that the prices of this deck will continue to go up and down between 5 and 10-12k all the way to Icecrown. Why do I think this?
a) Alts, the Nobles deck is not a random drop that has to be farmed it can be bought, quite easily. Most high level raiders with alts they want to gear/new mains have gold in piles to spend. Easy option? Get the emblems trinket + nobles deck. 5 instances and 7,5k gold, done..
b) It is just way over-itimized for some speccs/classes, thus it will always be the "one" trinket for them until everyone of that

To steer the topic in another direction;
Patch is incoming in about 1-2 weeks (my bet is on 15th in Europe, maybe 22nd). With the patch we will soon start getting boe craftables from ulduar for LW, BS, tailoring. Have anyone done any research on what craftable gearitems might be most desired?
I've been slowly accumulating arctic fur, titansteel and eternals for a month now. Expecting to dish out tons of craftable epics + leg armors

I cannot seem to find the blue now, but from what I gather the only change in flower drop rate is that all those nodes that use to give 1x "PUT FLOWER NAME HERE" now will give 2-3 every time. There has been no notice of increased Frost lotus drop rate. However, there has been loads of people stocking up on them, so prizes will go down first 2-3 weeks (depending on how many people with cash on your server is willing to buy up cheap flasks and relist)

Do note that last time I checked, the craftable epics will require quite a few (6 or so per item) drops from Ulduar (25 - perhaps 10 also drops it?) OR the use of Conquest emblems (15 / orb). This insures that there will not be a flood of them on the AH - but it does mean that the materials used to create them will become more in demand. As Ulduar gets farmed more, more of the base materials will be wanted.
Personally, I have stocked up a bit of enchanting mats and titansteel bars for 3.1.

idd so, thus I expect to have to keep stockpiling for a couple of weeks (3-4) after the patch to start reaping the benefits of it. Enchanting mats seems like a dangerous game, I have the feeling EVERYONE has stocked up on them. I am trying to unload what I have at a nice profit now (mainly dust/essence/shard) and plan to buy vast amounts when the AH gets flooded post patch.
Anyone here set up a flask coalition on their server? Is it just to easy to farm mats to be able to control the market "completely"? (i.e buying all ice lotus+crafted flasks and relisting for say 150% of bought value (something like 25g ice lotus and 80g flasks (new flasks 40g)))
I've managed to control it for a day or two, over weekends where i've been busy working on projects etc so just had my toon sat in front of the AH. But to try and do it full time is almost impossible. There's just too much base materials available.
The thing with nobles decks is, the price can barely go down at all.
With 30g/stack of herbs and 25% nobles cards youre looking at 600g nobles cards value.
That's 4800g without any win for the crafter.
Unless the recipe price goes down it would seem unlikely for anyone to sell nobles cards below their actual value.(specially since chaos/undeath/prisms are terrible still)
For the last couple months i didn't want to mention anything, for fear of popularizing the tactic too much, but since i've shut down my account for the foreseeable future, i'll say it now. The Legplates of Conquest were the single best moneymaker i've seen in the 5.5 years of WoW. it was posted way back in this thread, shortly after Wrath released, and never really acknowledged. I gave it a shot though, and good lord, it was impressive. I was AVERAGING 1000g per day in profits from these things. it was never a problem to buy up dozens of stacks of saronite bars (<40) or ore (<20g) and stacks upon stacks of eternal earth (7g). Add in a few regular farmers of questionable origin that will COD pages worth of it to me for even cheaper, and it was just a gold making machine.
I'm sure i'm not the only one who spends the first part of the evening going constantly AFK with family matters, cleaning, etc. Spend a few minutes at the AH, bulkmail everything to the armorsmith, and off he goes. 10 minutes of afk crafting, come back and vendor the results for a few hundred gold, whenever you sit back down again, then do it again. mind numbing for sure, if you were actually wanting to play the game during that time, but perfect for a constant money supply when you can't do dailies because the child wants to watch "Elmo moozie" for the 100th time. It actually makes me think blizzard did this intentionally for people like me! Kind of sad i suppose, that buying mats from the AH and vendoring the results is probably the most fun i've had with the game in the last year.
My question is why this wasn't more acknowledged in this thread? were others doing the same thing and just keeping it quiet? Perhaps the material prices are too much higher on other servers? I mean, i've tried at least half the things mentioned in this thread in some capacity, but nothing came close to this level of pure, effortless profit. I would make 1000g bets that the new guy wouldn't die to the frogger boss on his first night in naxx, losing of course, and not even giving a shit because i'd just make it back the next night.
That would have only been profitable for the last month or so on my server - and even now it's only about 2g each. That's a lot of activity for 1000g. It takes a lot of wall clock time which wouldn't make it a good choice for me. Generally I'm on the computer actively engaged or I'm doing something else entirely where I don't want to check up on a process every 10 minutes. Maybe if I have children...
Unless the recipe price goes down it would seem unlikely for anyone to sell nobles cards below their actual value.(specially since chaos/undeath/prisms are terrible still)
One note: the Undeath card is getting a major buff in 3.1. The Proc's damage is being increased by a factor of 10. However, I think this will only bring the trinket in line with the other non-Nobles Wrath trinkets, and not push it ahead of anything.
I may have to talk to my pocket enchanter that I've been using for my JC work. My Saronite purchasing has dropped off because prices have recovered a little, and I'm paying him a fair amount for the DE work. Bean Counter is telling me that the Dust+Essences+Shards I've sold have only just barely allowed me to break even. While I still have my blue quality gems to cut and sell at 3.1, I'm basically DEing greens at a loss of the cost of crystallized earth. I'm heavily considering getting serious with an alt to get one 60-70 and set it up as my own Enchanter/DE.
I originally did this as an experiement anyway, but the money outlet I'm dealing with is really hurting me.
I've also done some more research in to metagem prices, and they actually seem profitable, so this could help my overall margin (Cut skyflares sell for ~80-100g for a 20g investment in mats). I'm still dismissing the cost of acquiring the token cuts as the price of the profession. I personally would rather have a small variety of cuts per gem than try to sell Dragon's Eyes.
------------
I'm still predicting a drop in Dragon's Eye prices in 3.1, barring any new crafting recipes I haven't seen yet. Since all released recipes are using Runed Orbs, the Eyes are not going to be as useful to non-JCs to get the good crafted gear.
Frozen Orb prediction: Expect them to drop through the floor in value and possibly recover a little. I have yet to see any new EoV gear in 3.1 released info, which means people who are stockpiling their badges for some easy gear upgrades on patch day could be very disappointed. This of course means they will be dumping their badges into blue gems and Frozen Orbs and flooding the AH to try to get something for them.
Just a thought to some of the haggard JC's out there trying to turn a profit. In my efforts to gear up an Elemental spec (shaman) I found that the best ring out there to get a start on hit is [Ring of Northern Tears]. However, I've been searching without luck for three days to find a JC who has this pattern. I know it costs four tokens, but I'm estimating that a markup of 100G over mats could be easily made selling these one the AH.
Are these rings around on other realms, or are the universally scarce?
Are these rings around on other realms, or are the universally scarce?
Should just be a server thing.
I have 1 up on AH and 1 on the bank alt at most times and there are at least another 6 people with the recipe. In fact competition can be pretty bad and I end up having 2 in the bag for ages because of undercutting.
I mentioned them on page 35. And the profit margins on them for vendoring them tends to be unproductive use of the ore. Unless you're running some kind of bot while you're sleeping or some sort. There is a great deal of time spent smelting if you're buying the ore, crafting, vendoring and running to the mail box.
Given 30 ore and 10 crystallized earth, rather than making 5 Legplates of Conquest for ~2g per, you could prospect the ore and make at least 5 rings to disenchant + get extra green gems, and any blue gems would rocket the value.

Unfortunately for me the ore never drops below 20G/stack. Avg is 22g/stack and eternal earth has been soaring as high as 8g/each.
On Earthen Ring (EU) horde side, Saronite Ore is never ever below 20g. Average price I'd say is around 27g with Eternal Earth rarely below 10g. I still make money buying and doing schemes on that though. Currently I'm breaking even, or a slight profit, stocking up on gems for Ulduar. I think the Saronite Ore market will be pretty non-existant as every JCers without a big stack wants to get gems to sell.
I'm too lazy to cut the useless gems though, proof from my alt's guildbank:
Given 30 ore and 10 crystallized earth, rather than making 5 Legplates of Conquest for ~2g per, you could prospect the ore and make at least 5 rings to disenchant + get extra green gems, and any blue gems would rocket the value.
At least on my server, most blue gems are plummeting in value to the point where I don't dare to stockpile more of it. (Talking autumn glow at ~10g, scarlet ruby at ~35g etc)
1x Legplates of Conquest = 3 saronite bars and 2x Crystallized earth
3x saronite bar = ~6g
2x C. earth = ~1,6g
Now if you have an armorsmith/DE (like I do), you can diss these into a Dream shard. Which currently sells for about 15g, and the price will hopefully increase slightly when we see Ulduar dropping.
So that's 7,6g investment ~15g each. With what the AH takes for selling it you should get about 7g each.
Pretty fair if you ask me.
