Emeraude is correct. I'm still concerned by the lack of a pvp weapon for anyone rated less than 2030. It appears to be intentional...but what the fuck?

Savage Gladiator's X (blue ilevel 200) was buyable in Beta in Wintergrasp for honor/arena points.

I went to Wintergrasp as well, nothing there but the trinkets/armor that you saw on MMO-Champion.

On the PTR I have the [Eternal Quintessence], and it gave me credit for having the Aqual. I suppose this means there was no extra step for getting Eternal.

From that evidence, it seems likely that the achievement is tied to the quest, not specifically to either of the items.

It's been about 3 years+ since I've done that quest, totally forgot about it.
Hands of the Enemy - Quest - World of Warcraft didn't actually reward the Essence however. But after completing it you could get the Essence from the Duke in flavor dialog.

There were a few patch note changes.
Druids can train Polearms (part of the feral AP change I assume) and Mental Quickness and Static Shock swapped places (to make sure Elemental Shaman spec into the correct tree).

i think people are seriously confused about the ptr's relation to the arena season and pvp vendors that are going live today. as in, there is none. patch is not today. who knows when and where that ptr build is from. the last few had pvp vendors with free gear, or merciless sets back to arena points and requirements, or brutal w/o reqs, all kinds of crazy stuff.
the blue sticky from yesterday has the savage set requiring arena points, and the lowest level of epic offset pieces requiring "medium" arena rating. that to me is way more valid than a ptr build with vendors from late beta.

Since the blue post coincides precisely with what is being observed on the PTR right now, it is extremely likely that today S5 will go live with the same prices as Emeraude has posted from the current PTR, even if the rest of the patch is not being applied for 1-2 more weeks.

if by "coincides precisely' you mean "very very different" then I agree completely.
otherwise the blue post pretty clearly states that the blue set requires arena points and the hateful offset epics require medium arena rating... which would be the opposite of "coincides precisely to the ptr"

On the PTR, the blue set is available for either "High Honor cost" or "Low Honor cost + Low Arena point cost".
It seems more likely to me that the blue post made a single mistake and left out the secondary availability of the blue items from strict honor.

Also, after messing around on the PTR during downtime, I saw that Emeraude's list missed two nice PvP items that were fairly easily accessible in Wintergrasp: epic helms and epic boots.
The helm was purchasable for 40 Wintergrasp marks, the boots for 15. There were also epic resilience trinkets (or at least one, with 84 passive and an AP proc). I remember reading about these earlier, but did not see their prices or locations verified. I just have.
Lastly, on the PTR at least, they did not increase the honor cap. I was still stuck at 75000 even after winning Wintergrasp with several HKs.

The honor cap not being raised at level 80 has been a massive failure, really. I understand them not wanting to reward people for banking honor pre-80, but I've gotten almost nothing for any PvP I've done *at* 80 because I was at 72000 already just from farming PvP mounts before WLK hit.
Also:
On the PTR, none of the offset gear now requires Marks of Honor to purchase. This means that the "For Great Honor" quest is now the only use for those items...except that AV marks are no longer on the quest. What are AV marks going to be used for now then? Tabards?

In my opinion the failure was more in that there was nothing to spend the honor on once you got to 80. If the savage gear was available at launch of WOTLK it would not have mattered if they had raised the cap. Personally I think the cap is a good thing because it does prevent people from storing up honor between seasons.

We can only hope. Needing to do your least favorite battleground a bunch of times to get an item was awful design.

My druid tried to test this on the PTR this morning. Couldn't find a weapon trainer who would train him in pole arms. I went to Stormwind, Ironforge (tried both the gnome and the dwarf), and Darnassus (hurrah for "Teleport: Moonglade"), since I couldn't remember which one was supposed to. But I turned on "show trainable, not yet available, and already known", and it didn't show up on any of them under any category.
This was on the "North American Spanish PvP" PTR server, due to that craziness with character copies.

As of 3.0.8, will S4 gear still be available at 70? I was hoping to grab some of it later on because I thought the set looked really nice. Will the gear still be accessible to players? With rating requirement (that could make it difficult)?

In TBC, if they hadn't had those mark requirements. nobody would ever have run anything besides AV.

Servers are up, the prices/ratings I posted earlier are in fact accurate.
Edit: Wintergrasp rewards for Wintergrasp Marks of Honor are not however up, I imagine they're tied to the next patch.

Seems that Wintergrasp Mark of Honor items (trinket/helm/boots) are patch material though for anyone who wasn't sure and is unable to check due to zone control.
Edit: ahh beat to it!

All S5 Tier 1 and Tier2 gear is buyable for Marks of Heroism and Valor respectively. 45 for the expensive pieces and 30 for the cheap ones (shoulders, gloves). These are on vendors now.
