Quick question for whoever did the animated avatars for Gurg and Kaubel. What are you using to get rid of the background? Shake? Some other compositing program? Or doing frame by frame in something like Photoshop/Gimp/ect. Just wondering if there is a decent free compositing program out there.
I used the free trial of Ulead Gif animator to make my background transparent.
What do you mean by removing the background? All of the animated gifs (as far as I know) we have were made with the WoW model viewing program, screenshotted frame by frame of the animation then moved into Photoshop to edit/resize the image, then Ulead to finish up and make it a gif.
Lately when I make mine I've been cutting them out with Magic Wand in Image Ready right before I send them through to be finish. There is probably a quicker way to do it, but I prefer to just do everything in IR and I'm not sure how other than that. :P I think you can replace the color white with transparency, but I haven't found the option.
I made Gurg and Kau's avatars, and Brownbread made them all see through (and cut off poor Kau's foot! ;;). I did it by loading up the animation in ModelViewer with a white background, slowing down the desired animation and print-screen/pasting into ImageReady and editing it from there. :P
Der, I didn't even think about Model Viewer.... I just got done with compositing class at school so I am stuck on that. Figured someone took video footage of what ever motion and just made the background transparent.

Way too much work. They also wouldn't look nearly as nice.
