Consider the +spirit of shadowcraft. Allocating the same number of item points to something actually useful for the intended class is not mudflation, its desisting items better.
I'm pretty sure the +spirit on shadowcraft is a legacy from the days of beta when spirit used to give melee classes a better chance to have weapon procs occur. I certainly don't remember them changing the stats any when retail hit.

Yep. That was why old NS had all the spirit as well. It used to boost the proc rate on poisons and your current "out of combat" regen happened all the time. Spirit was really damn good.

I think the retail change is a good thing because it just simplifies what kind of gear you need to get.

The loot there is also better because the itemization team has been getting better at their job, but that would happen in new instances regardless of a level cap raise.
I find this last statement a bit naive given the previous evidence. First, the itemization team simply making items better and more appealing is not an individual getting better at their job, it's just the mudflation associated with ANY mmorpg. Making a 90 dps sword doesn't make you a good itemizer, it's just something to keep the warriors playing (this becomes frighteningly apparent in that "Pat rank 14 warrior" video)

Granted level 70 greens being better than BWL loot is dramatic license on my part, but if you think about it, what's to say the level 70 blues will make wrath armor, or dragonstalkers, or stormrage look like a joke? Every patch with new items has followed the trend of giving things more bang for their item-level-buck. I find it ironic that a tank is supposed to use their bloodlord's defender that they got from ZG to tank onyxia for his guild in order to "upgrade" to quel serrar.
would you want more items like lapidis tankard of tidesippe

I'd love to see the epics that come out of AQ if they follow some of the smarter point allocation that came from ZG. Just imagine an epic version of the bloodtiger gear.

It's going to be cool when warlocks finally get to the point that the occasional blue or green isn't a better raiding item than your epic setpieces. Or the day (at least) when "sweet" epic items aren't a tiny, near-negligible upgrade from the blue you already had. (Ask Zibro about his boots.)

I'm gonna dig that. As-is, for months in MC I've been in full epics and have been consistantly outdamaged by warlocks who chose to load up on largely green items with only +dmg stat on them. Sure I could usually outlive them when stuff was beating on me, but woopie. In a full suit of epics, I should generally be able to outdamage, outlive, and pretty much out-everything someone of the same class who is wearing blue/green gear and has the same general build, IMO.

That's where caster itemization remains heavily broken, in my eyes. I could exchange about 3 of my current pieces for greens that have crappy armor and only +dmg on them and gain around 100 +damage. I'd lose a number of stats and a 5-piece set bonus (that doesn't matter for much of squat), but there's a pretty noticable increase in damage. The idea that I'd ever actually want to remove epics for level 56+ greens so I could do my job better is pretty damned sad, to me.

It's becoming far less of a problem with the new epics in the game, but I could see it remaining a problem in expansion greens/blues if they don't do something to actually fix the general issues they're trying to band-aid at current.

Sad but true, but they're going to have to do something about it soon. The ONLY stat worth anything to a raiding warlock is +damage. We don't run out of mana, and we still have enough hp to survive the odd shadowflame freakout back when that was a issue.

I currently got about 80% of the theoretical maximum +damage possible with the current ingame items, so you'd think that by now going for other stats would be a good thing, but outside of pvp and such, it just doesn't pay off.

The Stormrage BP is such an insignificant upgrade to the Cenarion, the biggest reason to loot the former is for its contribution to the set bonuses.
Or because Golemagg is a whore and quit dropping Cenarion vestments so you end up going from blue-> purple chest and feeling pretty badass after that particular Nef kill.

I have been 7/8 for over 3 months! This shouldn't happen to a Druid!

Everyone says this, but I think it just seems that way because I bet you have fewer warlocks and druids than other classes.

When's the last time you took 6-7 warlocks on a raid?

How about 6-7 warriors?

Well... the first raid I ever went on with MF (this was before there was a team A) had seven warlocks. Needless to say, Garr wasn't very challenging. And if I remember correctly, a bunch of pally junk dropped.

I think at this point everyone takes a lot of warriors. They are a fun class to play and stack well in a raid now that deep wounds can't knock off curse of shadows (this makes playing a warrior a little less fun but doesn't detract from the overall experience.)
