I've been trying to put together some general principles on loot in WoW(as opposed to the specific intricacies of DKP for example) and such and thought I would throw it out there. To often people (like say me) come here asking "How does EJ deal with X" instead of looking at a more general problem.
- Items have no intrinsic value, they serve to make us able to enjoy content in the game we would otherwise not be able to to. Specifically they permit us to progress in raids and dungeons.
- Items are thus distrusted in a manner that best allows for that progression. The overriding considerations for distribution is thus time spent raiding and ability to make use of the item while raiding.
- The guild can not fix itemization problems, real or imagined. Speak to Blizzard about a redress of grievances.
- All items are upgrades and will in all likely hood drop again. Not receiving an item at a certain time does not make or break your character.
