Is it really necessary to have every single member in the raid on screen like that? It seems like even if a hunter saw someone taking a fair amount of damage, there wouldn't be much they could do anyway.

Then again, I'm more used to alliances in FFXI where at most you have 18 people in a group and they're all listed in little boxes in a corner. Plus, the most I've ever been in is a 10-man raid.

I'm convinced that you could take away the game graphics, and just have windows of various types showing raid data and whatnot, and some people wouldn't even notice.

I actually thought about that question, Kaubel, but the in-game graphics are an extremely high-bandwidth means of conveying what people are doing. I know that when I'm hit with a Halloween costume I have a harder time playing my character because I subconciously cue off the animations to see whether or not I've performed a particular action like SS, kick, evis, whatever.

A cool test would be to have a character performing a bunch of actions in a movie and see if people could correctly identify all of the stuff going on. I suspect that most people could.

For rogues, I'd agree. It drives me crazy when farming the blood elves in Azshara and I can't see their response to things like cheap shot and gouge.

But just looking at some people's interfaces makes me think the only thing they use the actual game graphics for is to avoid running into trees. It's just all window clutter, and it's a wonder they get a frame rate above 6 with all that crap.

I had a similar issue when fighting the Blood Elves in Azshara. Since the animations are gone it was really awkward timing kicks since I'm so used to monsters taking up some pose when casting. It just threw my rhythm totallt out of wack. After killing 600 that changed, but fuck it was awkward at first.

That's quite true. Doing Vael/Firemaw the first few time really threw me off, as there are multiple near-identical people standing on top of each other.

Yeah, I like as much clear space on my screen as possible. Transparent backgrounds for titan and CTRA, scaled-down versions of CTRA and flexbar buttons, no character portraits, etc.

My real estate is where the DM Summary window is...that isn't normally up, I took this SS while looking at my heal summary after a nefarian fight. Raid Asisst takes up most of my space, I might switch back to "class" display vs. "group" display.
