Oh good. I missed a ticket I had out for a week because I didn't see that the GM wanted to speak with me.

Perhaps the most interesting thing about this patch is not the actual changes, but the method in which it has been applied. No notice, some nice changes - yet most importantly - breaks away from the 'lets wait until a major patch like 3.1 to make any changes' mentality. More frequent, smaller patches between the Big 3.1/3.2 style product updates every 4-6 months is something many players will eagerly embrace.

I think it's pretty clearly a "let's fix Arenas" patch with the changes to cast speed debuffs and the reduction of mage burst potential.

The thing that surprised me the most was that it did not go to the PTR at all.

Also they seem to be willing to use hotfixes to correct balance problems, not just for bug fixes (Arcane Blast Glyph, Explosive Shot coefficient, Deep Wounds). I just wish they'd come up with a way to give us patch notes for hotfixes.

The very reason there was no PTR time is because it's primarily an Arena patch. I forget if it was Kalgan or GC, but one of the devs said that they get almost no player testing in Arenas every time they do a PTR.

The thing that surprised me the most was the subtle mode to nerf stuff around, without make that much rumor.

Understandable, however anytime you are changing code you introduce the potential of unforseen issues. The point of a PTR is to test for things the devs never thought of.

I suspect we will have some new bugs creep up between now and 3.1.

World of Warcraft - English (NA) Forums -> 2009 WoW Arena Tournament Announced

is probably the reason for the patch & it's expedient treatment.

While that is certainly a potential reason for no PTR tests, it isn't like all of these talents/glyphs would be used only in arenas. Arena testing would only need to be done to test whether the changes fixed the balance issues (most of which can be solved through internal testing or simply theory). Regular PTR solo/group pve would solve some of the bug issues that crop up expectantly when they make these sort of changes. This could mark a potential change by Blizzard in the way they do class changes, although we will see if the trend continues.

Let's try to not get another infraction, I meant:

More changes in 3.0.9:
A last minute change was made to the mage Arcane Barrage spell which reduced its spell power coefficient. This change did not make it into the 3.0.9 patch notes. We will be carefully evaluating this change and its effects on game balance in both PvE and PvP.

A nasty bug has been added. A guildie who did the mushroom boss in The Old Kingdom can't get rid of the mushroom debuff. This leaves him with -500 defense and -75% damage. On the plus side, he also remains tiny!

A new bug came to our attention regarding the Ahn'Kahet optional boss. The "Tiny" debuff currently is not working as intended. It is not dispelled properly. Unfortunately this means that players who are debuffed will remain debuffed, even when they've died.

We're looking into this.

Are there any other undocumented changes recorded? Usually there's a separate thread, but I think this patch took us by surprise.

According to Worldofraids.com;

* Naxxramas
o Avoidance and similar effects for pets now work properly on Sapphiron's Frost Aura (Normal / Heroic).

Professions

* Alchemy
o [Mercurial Stone] is now a trinket.
* Jewelcrafting
o [Mercurial Stone] is no longer required in the creation of Mercurial Adamantite.

Mage

* Arcane Barrage - Coefficient has been reduced. (Source)
* Glyphs
o [Glyph of Arcane Blast] - Increases the damage from your Arcane Blast buff by 3%. (Was: 5%.)
o [Glyph of Arcane Missiles] - Increases the critical strike damage bonus of Arcane Missiles by 25%. (Was: Increases the range of Arcane Missiles by 5 yards.)
o [Glyph of Mana Gem] - Increases the mana recieved from using a mana gem by 40%. (Was: 30%.)

Paladin

* Glyphs
o [Glyph of Holy Light] - Your Holy Light grants 10% of its heal amount to up to 5 friendly targets within 8 yards of the initial target. (Was: 20 yards. This was just a tooltip fix, as it was already hotfixed shortly after 3.0.8 went live.)
o [Glyph of Seal of Righteousness] - Increases the damage done by Seal of Righteousness by 10%. (Was: Reduces the cost of your Judgement spells by 10% while Seal of Righteousness is active.)

Shaman

* Glyphs
o [Glyph of Windfury Weapon] - Increases the chance per swing for Windfury Weapon to trigger by 2%. (Was: 5%.)

EDIT; Added: Sapphiron is now immune to taunt.

I'm fairly sure that Sapphiron has always been immune to taunt (along with Patchwerk, if memory serves me correctly)

As far as I'm aware, Naxx 10 Sapphiron has always been immune to taunt -- at least, it has been since Naxxramas was updated for Wrath. My guild learned this the hard way when our resident tankadin (In his DPS gear for the encounter) forgot to disable Righteous Fury before I aggroed the boss...

As for Patchwerk, I have no idea.

Actually, in our second or third run in Naxx-25, we lost MT on Saphiron and OT somehow picked him up without any further causalities. So, i was under impression, what Sapphiron is tauntable.

But Patchwerk always was immune to taunt. I know this for sure (tried taunt him couple of times).

A more likely explanation is that the OT was 2nd on the threat list. Do you happen to remember if he was?

Since there is so much misinformation floating around: Saph and Patchkwerk are definitely not tauntable. Our Ret Paladins even use Hand of Reckoning macroed into their Judgements there to get a little bit of extra DPS.

It was back in early december, so no. But most likely OT was just 2nd on the threat list, indeed.

Obviously not mentioned in the patch notes, and alluded to only briefly (in German) on the Euro WoW boards - does anyone know anything about the supposed change to allow any class to carry Thunderfury? There's an Armory profile floating around of a Warlock carrying it.

I don't know about the whole sword, but as early as patch 2.3 or so my Druid was able to loot a Thunderfury binding and begin the quest (he now has the Essence of the Firelord), and I don't see why the rest of the quest wouldn't be finishable - and the sword itself doesn't have any class requirement. Honestly, I'm not sure there ever was a class limitation, and rather guilds just never gave a binding to someone who wasn't the listed class.
