Hello, my name is Rydan from Burning Legion. I am the guild master of Poreia and we are made up of the top raiders from a few ex top ranked guilds put together.

We all have lots oh history together in raiding molten core all the way through and killin onyxia and all that.

Well yesterday we made a 28 man attempt at onyxia durring our holiday break for the fun of it and we all have done her before and for some reason we got deep breathed about 6 times in stage two.. we dodged the first couple cause we have fire resistance but the last ones just crushed our chances to finish this attempt.

Do you know if its just a LACK of dps on her that causes a deep breath, is it because we may be clumped up (which we were not) or lack of dots (which we were doing just fine on) ?

Keep in mind ive done this more times then i can count in my past guild (undercon which happends to be consequence now). And another guild Evident and i had never had this much problem killing her or getting past stage two ever.

One more question. When knock back happends, how much does she really de-agro ?.

I am the MT (missing 2 pieces of might, and i have full FR gear).

Deep Breaths are totally random. They have nothing to do with the dots or DPS on her.

The problem with your knockback question is that you need to determine every abilities threat level before placing an arbitrary number on mob knockbacks. It's significant enough that further along in the fight the knockback will cause agro to switch to a healer or damage class. That is until the tank can regain agro past the healers/damage classes.

ok. Ya i found it wierd cause ive never lost argo in a mc boss fight, in mc, out door raid bosses nothing and then onyxia.. onyxia is just odd lol.

So your telling me stage 2 is completly based on luck ?.

im assuming the best way to dodge the deepbreath looking past the fact that its random. is just massive dps.

I suspected this was true but our raid leaders believe it is a lack of DPS, but even when we pour on the DoTs, she would Deep Breath and once she Deep Breathed about 5 seconds into Stage 2... ugh random.

Everybody just has to stay on their toes to avoid being deep breathed, i.e. be prepared to run to the sides at all times. That's how the EJ ten man (except for kaubel) survived somewhere in the neighborhood of ten deep breaths.
