I was wondering what you and your forum barns (no offense intended ;) are thinking about giving the mighty mace to a Shaman instead of a Warrior.
I read that your first hammer went to Beef and you second aint done yet, so why did you give it to a Warrior the first time (only because he would have killed you all if you didnt ? :) and which class will get your second one ?
I mean I have read all that stuff about sword/axe spec being far better than mace (although mace gets buffed, at least for pvp, in 1.9) and I know that many other guilds have chosen to give their Sulfuras to Shammys and Paladins but I, as a Shaman, am still wondering if it really can be justified to claim it.
Of course windfury will provide nice burst and crit damage but I guess that is not really what a class without any aggro reduction (pre 1.9) is trying to achieve in pve, is it ? And constant meleeing will mean more total (raid)dmg received than before while losing at least half an healer (no more chain heal spamming on giants for example). It also could be quite a hassle to get the right items needed for a melee orientied Shaman (rolling against Hunters and in some cases Warriors).
Another open question is the right talent spec for a pve raiding shaman weilding Sulfuras, most guys on the official boards are only careing about pvp specs and their huge crits. I was thinking about going 11/19/21 with which I'd only miss one point in Flurry, Parry and two in Imp. Windfury, while still being able to heal and bring the +spellcrit +dmg modifiers of the T1 and T2 sets to good use.
So any Shaman arround who are actually using this legendary and could provide some first hand experience or some of your players who theorized about getting it, too ?

Beef got the first one because 1) he's a warrior, and 2) because he's Beef. Gurgthock, a shaman, is close to completing his.

Funny you ask....
I currently have an Eye of Sulfuras, 50 Arcanite Bars, 25 Essences of Fire, 20 Dark Iron Bars, 10 Fiery Cores, 10 Lava Cores, 10 Blood of the Mountain, and 6 Sulfuron Ingots in my bank.
We got our first Sulfuras in June, and it was by far the first on the server and one of the first gamewide. At the time, we'd seen maybe one Spinal Reaper from Rag, but otherwise no weapons better than an OEB. Sulfuras was an incredible improvement over OEB. Remember, that was before weapon-speed normalization, too.
Today, however, we have a deeper pool of Rag weapons. We have Untamed Blades. We have Drake Talon Cleavers. And of course that little toy called Ash'kandi.
For PvE DPS, mace spec sucks. On top of weapon-speed changes, those other weapons are all swords and axes, which makes them rival Sulfuras despite being lower DPS, and Ash'kandi is just plain better than Sulfuras. Today, in December 2005, it doesn't make nearly as much sense. If you have access to BWL (and soon A'Q) weaponry, the effort and cost of making Sulfuras seems silly. Going down the list of the 17 most active warriors in our guild, 15 of them have Spinal, Bonereaver's, Untamed, Drake Talon, or Ash'kandi (+Sulfuras in one case). The other two have Zin'rokh from Zul'gurub. It doesn't make sense to give a Sulfuras to a warrior at this point, really.
As for shamans, in EJ we don't let shamans get stuff like Spinal Reaper or Drake Talon Cleaver unless no warrior needs it (and we're a ways away from that happening, still), so for raw DPS, the only option that even comes close is the Herald of Woe, and that's damn rare anyway.
So yeah, I don't think it's crazy at all.

You do need to institue a policy that as soon as any Shaman gets a Sulfuras made he immiedately respecs to elemental/restoration with no points in enhancement at all.

and it looks really cool. I was in a raid that gave it to a shaman. For many it seems like a travesty(there was some other issues also but I try not to get into that). It is one of the really great DPS weapons for a shaman and with the right gear can really pack a punch as an enhancement shaman. As gurgthock said though for the effort it is not much of an upgrade from other weapons for a warrior so I personally think it is mainly a epeen item.

On Magtheridon (Where I play now, RIP Shinsoku) they give Ashkhandi's to paladins. Great stuff right?
