lol I got a nice laugh out of that.
I'd like to ask a question though, has anyone 'championed' all of the different factions yet? Once that happens are you unable to take the valiant dailies? Because while I'd like to champion all of the different factions, the way the valiant and champion dalies double up is just too convenient and profitable.

I just became Exalted Argent Champion of the Alliance.. and nothing happened. No new quests opened up. Shame. I guess we'll have to wait for 3.2 (or 3.3->) to interact with Quel'Delar etcetera.
Edit; I'll add to this post when I find out if I can still do any Valiant quests. Though I really doubt it.
Update: After finishing all champion titles you cannot pick up any valiant quests.

With that in mind, would the most efficient course of action be to ignore the Grand Melee and the weapon quests that involve traveling outside of Icecrown, only doing the Valiant quests that can be done concurrently with the Champion quests? While it would take a lot longer to reach Champion status, if you're going for all the mounts you'll still reach Exalted Champion with all 5 factions long before you collect enough tokens, and it would shave a good 5-10 minutes a day off the routine.

That's correct (unfortunately I came to that realization a bit too late). Instead of getting all five done in ~25 days, it takes something like 42, give or take some slop when you change over. It's safe to say that the next phase won't be put in until well after that, so do it once to get credit for that eventual quest achievement and then ignore it safely.

On the efficiency front, the Vrykul in Ymirheim count as Scourge, and so can be paired with Blood of the Chosen - Quest - World of Warcraft (or Horde equivalent) to maximise gold return.

Unfortunately the mobs that attack you while doing the escort quest don't count as scourge for the Argent Tournament quests.

Oh, lame. I was unaware of that. They do count toward Blood of the Chosen, so I assumed they'd count for both Normally I just turn my brain off when doing those dailies and hadn't noticed. I'd say it's still worth doing both, though, as the AT quest has you killing 15 and Blood of the Chosen has you killing 20 Vrykul, so there's some excess killing to do either way, and the quest is right there.
Thanks for the correction, though!

It seems they forgot to flag a lot of mobs as scourge, espscially those involved with phasing. Some mobs count for the quest in one phase, but not in others (for example the Skeletal Runesmiths around Malykriss).

I'm not sure we will have to wait for 3.2. Based on recent performance, 3.2 will be 4-5 months away - and the existing quests were clearly going to become stale and "boring" a long time before that. The existing tournament includes a lot of unused, but purposeful NPCs, such as the Ebon Blade characters. Not to mention a construction site that could evolve in many stages. My hope if that new quests will open up in a minor patch.
A couple of tips, which are so obvious one might miss them:
1. The faction tokens also improve other friendly (Alliance or Horde) reputations by a lesser amount. So if you have a lot of reps to work on, start with the rep that is lowest, and the others may fall into place.
2. The minipets are not bound. So "completionists" can buy pets at auction (or gather them on an alt), saving their own tokens for bound items. Minipets should be increasingly widely sold (with a lot of cross-faction potential). Each pet sells for around 5000g (your server may vary), where one pet takes about 20 minutes x 8 days - almost 2k gold per hour, which compares favourably with most get-rich-quick schemes.
(For, erm, legal reasons, I should add some caveats regarding forward looking market predictions and get rich-quick-schemes: (1) Prices will decline over time as hardcore collectors (for whom 5k gold for something aesthetic is considered rational) gain all 10 pets. (2) Blizzard have indicated there will be additional ways to gain tokens in future, which make pets easier to obtain, so lowering prices. (3) Very long term, minipets are expansion-inflation busting, since they will remain valuable to those at the level cap, so continue to be valued as the same proportion of a level-capped player's earning potential, which tends to roughly double each expansion.)

The Ebon Blade NPCs aren't actually unused - Death Knights recieve their champion-tier dailies from them instead of from the Argent Crusade NPCs (see Crok Scourgebane - NPC - World of Warcraft etc). It's actually a really nice flavorful touch, though seeing more would be quite welcome!

Ah, the tournament. Fun and exciting, right? There are plenty of guides and explanations out there, including charts of rewards, progress for your time, and all that nonsense. However, here's what it comes down to in terms of Valiant/Champion quest pairing: Becoming a champion of all five city factions for your side of the fence removes valiant quests. So, if you're obsessed with maximizing your gold intake from dailies, you want to NOT get the achievement. Go ahead and become a champion with four factions, but don't turn in your seals for the fifth. Since valiant seals can be destroyed, and you don't care about them, you can just delete them. This means that every day you can get double-jousting duty, as well as the following lineup that I found to be pretty cake:
1) Valiant's Field Training [10 Icecrown Scourge]
2) Taking Battle to the Enemy [15 Icecrown Scourge]
3) Assault by Ground [escort, not in any way hard, ambusher's count for 4, but not 1 and 2]
4) Blood of the Chosen [20 Vyrkul]
Pick up from the faction tent and AT tent [EB non-tent if you're a DK], fly to your faction's skyship for Blood of the Chosen, fly down to your faction's staging point east of Ymirheim. Talk to your ready ground commander and commence the escort. If you're feeling lazy, you only need to get credit for five kills on ambushers (they count as Vyrkul but not Icecrown scourge). Stick around until the escort is over, then work your way through Ymirheim. This then puts you within a stone's throw of the Chillmaw area and the jousting area. As a personal preference, people tend to group for Chillmaw then head to joust, so I do it as 5) Threat from Above, 6) At the Enemey's Gates, 7) Battle Before the citdael, but you can do it the other way just fine. It's not Funwell, but it's seven dailies in short order while getting your seals. Fly back to your Ymirheim staging ground to turn in, then to your skyship, then to the grounds to finish jousting and tournament turn-ins. You're now free to do whatever else floats your boat. Even if you don't have Valiant quests anymore, this is a pretty efficient use of quest-time.
As a side note, this is the perfect excuse to establish rounds of Icecrown as a miner or herbalist [or both].
When it comes to Argent tournament rewards, most EJ mains will only find them of interest for mount/pet collections [and tabards and flags, if you're into that]. However, it's worth noting that the epic weapons and blues are on par with pre-raid BiS gear and Naxx-10 weapons in many cases. Since you can start the tournament process at level 77, this is a great way to step into raiding or heroics with one [or two] less items to get crafted. As has been discovered and confirmed, there is CURRENTLY nothing past the champion dailies. This will change with Patch 3.2.
In other news, this is my fail-safe jousting strategy, that never fails except under extreme lag [which usually causes joutsting to be impossible/buggy] and has occasionally let me run through four champions without healing my own mount:
1) Pre-stack three Defend [duh]
2) Start the fight almost overlapping the champion's model and hit Thrust immediately [minor, but it's free!]
3) Allow the champion to walk out a bit, giving you a free Shield Breaker. Move as you throw so you don't get one yourself
4) Start a movement/jump cycle: Thrust -> run away to Shield Breaker -> move back in immediately -> repeat. Re-stack defend when you get hit. As long as you tail the Champion so they can't run away to charge you, you will quickly have three stacks of Defend while the Champion has zero.
5) Once you have 3 Defend and the Champion has 0 Defend, your cycle becomes Shield Break [to break refreshed Defend] -> move -> Thrust -> move-Charge -> move-Thrust -> repeat
It gets easy and repetetive...just the way we like it @_@

It's easier, faster and more profitable to take the three Ebon Blade dailies from the Shadow Vault, as you're flying past there anyway to kill Chillmaw.

Blood of the Chosen gives Warsong Offensive rep which is a big draw for many who are already exalted with the Ebon Blade. You can also hit up the Slaves to Saronite, Assault by Ground and King of the Mountain whilst you're there, and Assault by Air if you can be bothered though I find that more of a pain than the others.
