I haven't actually seen the Alliance turnins posted anywhere, and R&D seems to be down for the count.
What are they?

Yeah, it's nice that we don't share a number of the turnins. Should allow for a more maximized collection rate. I'd wager we're going to have to help the alliance with their parts, near the end, if both sides have to finish all their collections before the opening.
The things you gotta do to kill bugs these days, I swear.

Is it a collaborative thing -- i.e., do both Alliance AND Horde have to be adequately supplied before the event can proceed? -- or are the factions racing against each other?

Collaboration. :(
There's already several people on Horde side either already there, or very very close. I just hope MF is doin' thier part and this happens soon. I for one have not killed a single one of them to hopefully help speed thier progress. Such restraints one must make for the progress of the whole. :P

Is that confirmed? If so, we should probably consider trying to set up some kind of cross-server exchange via Gadgetzan. We list silk and linen, Alliance lists wool and mageweave, etc... at reasonable market rates. And so on down the line.

Is this list the same for all servers, or does it vary by population?

Really, really not looking forward to gathering those fish. Could of course hope more people would help with fishing, but if it continues the trend for getting eels we're at most 10% in my guild that actually helps with that. I fear the same may be true of many guilds.

I can see this taking a long time on a lot of servers. Theres no real incentive to hand in all that stuff if your guild is still progressing in MC or BWL. By the time your ready to start learning a new instance the gates will most likely have opened automatically.

I'd also be willing to help out with goods Gadgetzan trading. I know in farming you'll probably pick up alot of the alliance turn-ins that could go to waste.
If you want to work something out PM me for my contact info so we can get these gates open :P.
And maybe me and Rums can team up! Team LoH up up and away!

AQ20 is actually pretty accessible. People done with ZG who need something to do would do well to help with the opening.

As far as fishing goes, in my experience the best place to catch loads of spotted yellowtails is in Steamwheedle Port, Tanaris. If I recall, this is also where the recipe is sold to cook them.
